The Giants rise in the draft order after loss
The loss to the Saints brought the Giants’ winning streak to a screeching halt and likely put paid to the Giants’ playoff hopes. It did, however, help their position in the upcoming draft. The Giants had slipped to eighth overall following their win over the Green Bay Packers. A win over the Saints would have dropped the Giants out of the top 10 and down to 13th overall, between the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Rams.
Instead, the Giants will stay in the top 10 for another week.
While the Giants’ playoff chances were likely dashed by the loss, it does keep them in the range to potentially get a “Blue Chip” player.
They could choose from offensive players like LSU WR Malik Nabers, Washington WR Rome Odunze, FSU WR Keon Coleman, Penn State OT Olu Fashanu, or Notre Dame OT Joe Alt. Defenders like Penn State EDGE Chop Robinson, Clemson CB Nate Wiggins, or Illinois DL Jer’Zhan Newton could be in consideration, as well.
The Giants could also still be in the range where a quarterback could fall to them, or a trade up with the Arizona Cardinals might not be too expensive.
The Giants will now return home to East Rutherford, N.J, and get ready to host the Philadelphia Eagles on Christmas.
