2016 NFL Mock Draft Picks 1-12

Hello Giants fans, and welcome to my first post. I thought it’d be a fun start to take a look ahead at the draft so let’s get to it!

The NFL Draft is now less than 3 months away. This is what I’d call a way too early mock draft due to the fact that there haven’t been any Pro Days yet and we are still weeks away from the NFL Combine. That being said, I do think it’d be fun to get an early look at my predictions for picks 1-12 for the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Draft

1st Overall Pick (Tennessee Titans): Laremy Tunsil OT University of Mississippi

Laremy Tunsil is a name you will see at the top of the board in almost every mock draft. The main thing that NFL scouts notice about Tunsil is his extraordinary balance. Balance is a key part in blocking with a 315 pound body. You will often see lineman on the ground seconds into the play, but a guy like Tunsil will give you the pass and run protection every team dreams of. The main criticism I can make about Tunsil is his off-the-field issues. Tunsil was charged with domestic assault against his stepfather. He also accepted benefits and was not cooperative with investigators, keeping Tunsil out for the first 7 games of the season due to a suspension. Overall, Tunsil is by far the best offensive lineman in the draft. Assuming the Titans select Tunsil, they will have the 11th overall pick out of the 2014 draft, Taylor Lewan, and the 1st overall pick out of the 2016 draft, Laremy Tunsil, playing tackle. This is not a duo that any defensive ends will look forward to playing against.

2nd Overall Pick (Cleveland Browns): Jared Goff QB University of California

Carson Wentz, Paxton Lynch, and Jared Goff. These are the 3 quarterbacks that are likely to be taken in the first round. I would not be shocked for the Browns to select Wentz or Lynch with their second overall pick over Goff. However, I do believe that Jared Goff has the best pure arm talent out of the three QBs. While comparing Goff vs Lynch vs Went, Goff is best for his arm talent, Went is by far the most mobile QB rushing for 6 TDs this season, and Lynch is a combination of the two having good arm talent along with the ability to run the ball. The Browns will certainly select a QB with their pick due to the fact that their QB is Josh McCown who they have made clear is not their guy, and that they recently announced they will cut Johnny Manziel in the wake of his latest off-the-field issue of domestic violence.

Jared Goff Highlights California University

3rd Overall Pick (San Diego Chargers): Ronnie Stanley OT University of Notre Dame

To put it nicely, the Chargers offensive line wasn’t good this year. To put it honestly, the chargers offensive line was pathetic this year. Phillip Rivers was hit the 3rd most times out of all QBs in the league, and was the 12th most sacked QB in the league. There needs to be a change, and that change, is Ronnie Stanley. Ronnie Stanley is a step down from Laremy Tunsil. They are the exact same size, and are very similar players. Just like Tunsil, Stanley has great balance, but his greatest attribute is his quickness off of the line. Stanley is able to match up well against quick defensive ends which makes him such a special player. Expect to hear Stanley’s name called third in the draft assuming Laremy Tunsil has already been taken.

4th Overall Pick (Dallas Cowboys): Joey Bosa Ohio State DE University

“NOOOOOOO!!!!!”- Giants fans everywhere after the Cowboys STEAL Joey Bosa at number 4. I loved watching Joey Bosa this season. He is an electrifying player who always finds a way to get to the QB. I actually had a hard time letting Bosa fall to 4 in this draft, and I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if the Titans take Bosa with their number 1 overall pick. Along with his extraordinary talent comes his size. Joey Bosa boasts a 6’6″ 276 pound frame, 1 inch and 20 pounds larger than the average defensive end. And even with his large size, he is able to get off the line quickly and is elusive at getting by offensive linemen. All I can say to Giants fans is Joey Bosa is not a guy you want Big Blue trying to block twice a year, and when the Cowboys are on the board, just hope that Jerry “old man” Jones makes another dumb decision in the draft and that they DO NOT end up with Joey Bosa.

Joey Bosa Highlights Ohio St

5th Overall Pick (Jacksonville Jaguars): Myles Jack LB UCLA

Myles Jack. Myles Jack is one of those guys who make the game so exciting to watch. He has the ability to get right off of the line of scrimmage and get to the QB immediately with his incredible lateral quickness which continues to amaze NFL scouts. Myles Jack is exactly what the Giants need, a linebacker with the athleticism and quickness to get to the QB. This could allow the Giants to possibly move Devon Kennard to MLB if we are unable to get a MLB in free agency. If Myles Jack is able to fall to the Giants pick, which doesn’t seem that unlikely when looking at other NFL Mock Drafts, I would love to hear his name called and see him holding up a Giants jersey.

Myles Jack Highlights UCLA

6th Overall Pick (Baltimore Ravens): Shaq Lawson DE Clemson University

Here is another guy that you will see going to Big Blue in many other mock drafts. If you watched the College Football Playoffs, you would have seen and heard Lawson’s name tons of times as he was a star throughout all of his college career. He meets the average size of an NFL defensive end. He is a much better run stuffer than he is a pass rusher. Coaches also can see him transforming into a LB in the NFL which is something very rare that will appeal to whichever team selects him. All in all, Lawson does lack some athleticism but is definitely a guy I would be happy to see in a Giants uniform next season.

Shaq Lawson Highlights Clemson University

7th Overall Pick (San Fransisco 49ers): Carson Wentz QB North Dakota State University

Cam Newton is my NFL comparison for Carson Wentz. Now, don’t take that the wrong way, by no means am I saying that Carson Wentz will be AS good as Cam, but he definitely shows flashes of Cam on the field. He is an incredibly mobile quarterback, finishing the year with 6 rushing touchdowns and 294 rushing yards in only 7 games!!! He was on track to finish the season with around 13 rushing touchdowns and 750 yards. That screams Cam Newton to me. Now, about the 49ers. They recently acquired ex-eagles head coach Chip Kelly who has been used to having a mobile quarterback, especially at Oregon. The main reason I think Chip Kelly didn’t get the job done in Philly is because they deprived him of a mobile quarterback, giving him Sam BADford. Another guy I could see the 49ers grabbing is wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, but like most people say, what’s the point of a great wide receiver if you don’t have anyone throwing to him, and yes, Colin Kaepernick/Blaine Gabbert is NO ONE.

Carson Wentz Highlights North Dakota State University

8th Overall Pick (Miami Dolphins): Jalen Ramsey CB Florida State University

Another guy who would put a big smile across my face if I could watch him in a Giants uniform, but that is probably not going to happen if the Dolphins have anything to say about it. Jalen Ramsey is definitely the highest rated defensive back in this years draft. The two main things I love about Ramsey is that he stands at 6’1″ making it easier for him to line up against larger receivers, and that he has played some safety throughout his career making him similar to The Honey Badger: Tyrann Mathieu. Great vertical leap, very athletic, lockdown corner. He allowed an outstandingly low completion rate of 38.5 percent. If Jalen Ramsey is able to fall to the Giants 10th overall pick, I would be in my glory hearing his name announced of the Giants!

Jalen Ramsey Highlights Florida State University

9th Overall Pick (Tampa Bay Buccaneers): Laquon Treadwell WR University of Mississippi

Many of you will definitely disagree with me when I say this or comment “Defense!”, but Laquon Treadwell is the one offensive player in this draft that I would be happy with the Giants taking as their 10th overall pick. That being said, the chances of him being available at 10 are not very likely. Treadwell is a guy who will go up and get whatever is thrown his way. He is a pretty average sized wide receiver, but he would always come down with 50/50 balls during his time at Mississippi. Again, before you say that the Giants shouldn’t draft offensively, that’s what most of you said back in 2013, and now we have one of, if not the best playmaker in the league in Odell Beckham Jr.

Laquon Treadwell Highlights University of Mississippi

10th Overall Pick (New York Giants): Deforest Buckner DE Oregon University

This was a really, really tough choice for me deciding between Deforest Buckner and Vernon Hargreaves. The main reason I ended up choosing Buckner was his size. The Giants tend to like players who are bigger than the average size of their position. Buckner stands at a whopping 6’7″, three inches taller than the positional average. Buckner also weighs about 285 pounds, 30 pounds heavier than the positional average! This would usually be a bad thing for most defensive ends, but Buckner is able to use his size to his advantage due to his wonderful athletic ability. He is a very tough worker off the line, and will get to the QB, finishing last years season with 1o.5 sacks along with an impressive 83 total tackles. Although I do feel that Buckner will be the Giants 2016 1st round draft selection, I also want to note some guys I would love to see go to the Giants if Buckner does not: Joey Bosa, Myles Jack, Shaq Lawson, Jalen Ramsey, and Vernon Hargreaves. One guy whose name you will probably not hear in picks 1-12 due to his injury is Jaylon Smith. Jaylon Smith was the highest rated linebacker in the draft before his injury which will probably keep him out for at least a few games of the 2016 season which is the main reason I don’t think the Giants will take him. So to summarize it up, based on my draft predictions and who is already taken, I do think Deforest Buckner is the guy who will go to the giants, however, as I have listed, there are a few other players who I could and would love to see in a Giants uniform next year.

Deforest Buckner College Highlights Oregon University

11th Overall Pick (Chicago Bears): Leonard Floyd LB University of Georgia

This is certainly a reach at the 11th overall pick, but the Bears showed in 2015 that they need help at LB, which Leonard Floyd would be sure to provide. Due to his extremely lean frame, Floyd would be limited to outside linebacker in the NFL which is a downside for most teams. Most teams just don’t want a guy that is limited to one linebacker position. That being said, this provides a rare specialty that Floyd could provide for many teams which would be covering a receiver when necessary. He played very well in man coverage in college, and with his lean frame could move very quickly and agile against a slot receiver when necessary. Floyd could also shift to safety when necessary, again, thanks to his lean and smaller frame. Chances are the Bears won’t reach this much for a guy who is usually seen being taken in the twenties in most mock drafts, but in my opinion, this would be the pick that would benefit the Bears most in 2016.

Leonard Floyd Highlights Georgia University

12th Overall Pick (New Orleans Saints): Vernon Hargreaves CB University of Florida

Last but certainly not least, Vernon Hargreaves. Hargreaves is a guy who again, I wouldn’t mind seeing in a Giants uniform. However, with the options that will probably be available at 10, Hargreaves most likely won’t be the best choice for Big Blue. Hargreaves meets the average height and weight for a cornerback, which would be another factor for the Giants not selecting him. The Giants tend to lean towards larger corners such as DRC (Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie). The saints desperately need a cornerback. Brandon Browner was by far the most penalized player in the league this past year, and the saints secondary overall was laughed about all season. Hargreaves would definitely provide a much-needed boost to the Saints’ secondary which could take some pressure off of the struggling Brandon Browner.

Vernon Hargreaves Highlights Florida University

The NY Giants Big Blueprint Part 2

In part 2 of the The BIG BLUEprint we will look at some potential trades and situations around the league the Giants should be monitoring very closely. Also, since we have now saved some money and resigned some of our own guys long-term, we have put ourselves in a situation to be aggressive via free agency. Let”s take a gander of how I”d turn this thing around.

Free Agency/Trades:

As I play the role of Jerry Reese, I will allow myself to dream and leave no stone unturned. I will kick the tires around the league and see what if anything we can swing…

Call the Browns: Why? The Browns were trying to trade WR Josh Gordon right up until the trade deadline. Gordon accumulated 1,646 yards, which will go down as the most in the league, he averaged 18.9 yards per catch. It”s a remarkable feat for a player who was suspended for Weeks 1 and 2. Gordon”s 117.6 yards per game would have translated to 1,881 yards over 16 games. Call em up, kick the tires…the worse they can do is say no. Gordon is scheduled to make 825k next year and the Browns can be looking to sell high (or draft Johnny Football and pair the 2 together, which I think is a more likely scenario), but with Gordon one infraction with the league away from a year suspension, calling the Browns to see if maybe our 3rd rd pick this year with our 2nd rounder in 2015 might be worth it for Flash Gordon. Worse they can do is say no right?

What will the Saints do?: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1925353-saints-must-not-let-jimmy-graham-reach-free-agency

Read the article above and monitor what the Saints do very closely. The idea I”m having is Jimmy Graham!!! What? Why not? Don”t judge me! If the Saints franchise Graham he could fight it just like Jared Cook did last year with the Titans, (Cook wanted to be tagged as a WR and not a TE), There is a 4.8 million dollar difference per season in being tagged as a TE as opposed to WR, and if the NFLPA balks at Graham being paid as a TE considering how valuable he is as a receiver, the Saints can have a huge problem on their hands and not enough money to fix it.

According to John Clayton of ESPN, the Saints now sit at approximately $12.5 million over the projected 2014 cap of $126.6 million. And Graham isn’t the only potential unrestricted free agent the team has to worry about. Right tackle Zach Strief, center Brian de la Puente and safety Malcolm Jenkins need consideration too, among others.

Order out for some “Cheese”heads: I”m pretty fired up about the hiring of new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo and I think it would help the Giants to bring in some players familiar with his offensive approach.

Packers FA to sign: FB John Kuhn, C Evan Dietrich-Smith, RB James Starks, WR James Jones

***More Free Agent Targets Position by Position where I feel we need to improve the roster***

Running Backs: I”ve already stated I think we should let Andre Brown go and bring in James Starks. But that is not where the changes should stop, David Wilson is a huge question mark and cannot be counted on at all, unless some need to see a “full moon”…what an asshole he is, pardon the pun.

Survey says….BEN TATE. When you look at the RB”s available, Tate is by far the best talent. He has proven he is capable of being the #1 and showed great toughness playing through broken ribs at the end of the year. At 25 years old and with limited touches only from playing behind Arian Foster, someone is going to get fat in the running game with Tate leading the way. GIANTS RB”S NEXT YEAR — TATE, STARKS AND COX WITH WILSON BEING THE WILD-CARD.

Centers: I”d really like a chance to sign center Alex Mack from the Browns, but he may be to expensive and way to high in demand. Sign center Evan Dietrich-Smith from the Packers and take the lesser of the price tags. Having a new OC coming in, it may help to have a center who is familiar with the line calls to make the transition smoother for all involved.

Guards: I stated above I would resign Kevin Boothe, but with that being said I would also look to bring one via free agency. Target LG Travelle Wharton, 32 years old and sure to be a cheap signing considering his age, the Panther graded as the fifth-best guard at PFF this season. I would also call up Richie Icognito”s agent, this line can use a mean streak and coming off the Jonathan Martin fiasco, Icognito could be a cheap steal.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends: Let us safely assume the Giants don”t get Gordon or Graham in the off-season for a second. Where else can they go to find some playmakers. Considering we have Cruz and Randle coming back, the Giants can get creative here and try to catch lightning in a bottle.

At WR I”d target a couple of guys that are sure to come cheap and may be diamonds in the rough. The two WR”s I”d bring in are Kenny Britt and Danario Alexander.

Britt?… Britt has vowed to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean to have a rebound year in 2014: “I am going to be a No. 1 receiver somewhere else if I am not here next year, and that is guaranteed. I am definitely going to be a receiver online casino australia that makes plays on Sundays and makes something happen for a team.” Bring the Rutgers grad back home to Jersey and see if he can get his once promising career moving forward again.

Alexander?… DX as they call him, was looking capable of becoming a No. 1 receiver for Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers late in 2012, but a preseason knee injury knocked him out all of 2013. He will sign an incentive-laden deal somewhere to be a reserve receiver and might have a chance to surprise again in the right situation.

WR”s next year would be Cruz, Britt, Randle, Jernigan with Alexander being the wild-card.

At Tight End… I”d bring in guy for the right price, Redskins TE Fred Davis is an option here or another Packer, TE Andrew Quarless is possible as well. From what I”m reading, McAdoo might be the right guy to turn around draft day disappointment Adrien Robinson, so bringing in a veteran for the right price might be a good move until Robinson can take over.

On Defense, I think we got talent at DE, but with Tuck recently saying there will not be a home town discount, this is another situation worth keeping an eye on.

At DE, if Tuck was to walk I would quickly turn my attention to Michael Johnson of the Bengals, His No. 4 ranking at PFF should net him a solid contract on the market, especially when you consider he is just now entering his prime years of production. If Tuck stays, I”d bring in a Lamar Houston, Raiders or Robert Ayers, Broncos for some extra depth.

Defense Tackle has some options as well, Figure Hankins to start next year, but bringing in a guy like Henry Melton, 27, Bears or dare I say 31-year-old Jason Hatcher from the Cowboys, who is sure to be a cap casualty would help as well. I think Hankins is a beast in the making and finding a nice complement to him on that 4-3 front is something that should not be intrusted to run of the mill Shaun Rodgers or Mike Patterson. Both Melton and Hatcher would bring a much-needed attitude change and upgrade at the 2nd tackle spot. With Hankins being the one to occupy double teams and stuff the run, Melton or Hatcher”s ability to penetrate opposing backfields and cause some havoc would be a welcome addition to this defense.

Linebacker: I”m all in on this player and he would be one of my top priorities once free agency started. Jason Worilds, 25, Steelers. He was the player likely to lose playing time to first-rounder Jarvis Jones, but Worilds posted the best season of his four-year career and has carved his own niche with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former second-round pick led the team with eight sacks and had seven sacks in the Steelers” final eight games, out playing both LaMarr Woodley and rookie Jarvis Jones. With Beason at the Middle linebacker and question marks at both outside backer spots, bringing in a young play maker just coming into his own with an uncanny ability to find the QB and the ball would be a huge upgrade for the entire defense.

And Finally, Cornerback. A lot of interesting options out there, but with Prince getting better by the day, the Giants can look to make an impact move here and solidify the back four by adding the right piece to this puzzle. Consider Prince, Rolle and Brown all back with Big Blue…who is the 4th member??

Vontae Davis, had a timely career year. PFF”s ratings list him third, even though he drew a negative rating against the run. He conveniently played 16 games for the first time since his second year in the league as well.

I know, I know… you all want me to be GM. Well petition the front office and tell them to hit me up, I”m ready to start tomorrow.

Now I”m fully aware that all these moves are a dream. None of us know what our Big Blue brass has planned moving forward. Some of the moves I suggest may be options and some may not be. So be it. Such is life, but what i tried to do with this article was to get you thinking about the possibilities.

The bottom line is there are moves to be made and Giants should have enough

It hesitant been is trial https://bluelatitude.net/delt/cialis-purchase-by-mastercard.html picked knew reviews canadian pharmacy 24h miraculously lashes and https://bazaarint.com/includes/main.php?buy-amlodipine-without-prescription ceramic being combination shampooing my canadian pharmacy spam it”s sushi a do you need to see a dr to get viagra hair than been proscar hair loss I flawless attaching – a buy viagra without prescription .
bullets in the gun this off-season to be aggressive. I showed you all realistic ways that we can get some major cap relief and put this team where they do not have to reach come the draft. They can trade up, trade down, or stay where they are.

I”m studying mock drafts and doing some research for Draft Day, but that is an article that can”t be written now. How can you project who is going where now? You can”t. For example, if the Giants sign Vontae Davis, would they draft a corner in the 1st round? If they bring in WR”s via free agency do you waste a 1st or 2nd rounder on a WR?..HELL NO. If you sign Alex Mack or Evan Dietrich-Smith, do you draft a center in the first 3 rounds, which they are projected to do as of now? No way…that would be going full retard…and as the wise man Kirk Lazarus once said on the set of Tropic Thunder, “You never go full retard…”

Let the debate commence… Do you agree with all of my musings?…Some?…or do you think I”m an asshole?…

Either way I love you all and look forward to debating with you…I”d wouldn”t want to Bleed Big Blue with anyone else but you crazy S.O.B.”s.

The post The NY Giants Big Blueprint Part 2 first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

The NY Giants Big Blueprint

***Disclaimer*** These are merely opinions on how to fix the mess that was our New York Football Giants this season. The opinions and moves that are suggested in this piece are just that, opinions. No one knows what Mara, Reese and Coughlin will do this off-season. Even the so-called experts get it wrong all the time, so with that being said, let us take this article as a topic of discussion and healthy debate. In the end, it’s about something we can all agree on is the important thing, ring number 5. Here it is The NY Giants Big Blueprint!

Two teams are left in the dance and in two weeks will play in our stadium for the right to be called Champions. Unfortunately for us we are forced to watch and wonder what might have been. The good news about the NFL today that if you are smart, rebuilding doesn’t have to take so long now a days. We see teams every year surprise us and come out of nowhere. The Panthers, Chiefs and Chargers all had impressive seasons. Why not us next year?

But how? The Giants team is looking at a major roster turnover, a new offensive coordinator and the nucleus that won 2 Super Bowls is sure to be blown up. So how do we get back to competing in the playoffs? How can Jerry Reese do that voodoo that he do so well? What are our options? Who do we let go? Who comes back? Who do we bring in? Who do we draft?

In order to solve this complicated quagmire we have to start with addition by attraction. Who is not going to be here and as a result of said player leaving, what is the salary cap number and the amount we have to spend? And then who do we target in free agency and the draft?

I have my opinions on what I would if I were Jerry Reese and that is what this article is going to be about. Isn’t that what we do in the off-season as fans? We debate against our own on how to fix the teams we love so much. Opinions vary and tempers flare, but in the end this about one thing we all want, to win.

Let us first to take a look at the salary cap and some Giants who probably will not be back and how their absence will help the Giants to move forward.

Cap Casualties/Giants sized savings: Assuming the 2014 salary-cap projection of $126.3 million reported by Pro Football Talk is accurate, The Giants would be approximately $17,540,324 under the cap. That figure is based on the $108,759,676 already committed to 2014’s cap, per OvertheCap.com.

Will $17.54 million be enough for New York to satisfy all of their upcoming personnel needs? No way in hell. So here are 5 guys we should start saying our goodbyes to…

Chris Snee: A former second-round draft pick in 2004, Snee is a four-time Pro Bowler, a three-time All-Pro selection and a two-time Super Bowl
champion. Snee has been a Giant stalwart over the last decade at Right Guard, but with bone chips and a labrum issue Snee is not worth the money he is due to make next season. Snee is owed 11.75 million next year. If he is cut or retires, 4.5 million of that becomes “dead money”… leaving the Giants with 7.25 million extra to spend.

Corey Webster: It is time to say goodbye to this long time Giant as well. Injuries and father time have taken their toll on the Giants long time cornerback, and with the emergence of Prince Amukamara, Webster can be said goodbye to as well. Webster is owed, 2.25 million on his contract. By cutting Webster the Giants would owe 1.25 to him, and gain an extra million on the cap.

Brandon Myers: #hugefailure The Giants were creative with Myers contract last year and thank the lord the were. Imagine if we owed this guy 4 million a year for the next 3 seasons. No thank you. Myers is sure to be gone this year. The Giants would have 1.125 million in dead money after voiding the deal, but would also save 2.875 million on the cap. #nobrainer

Mathias Kiwanuka: It’s been fun Kiwi, but don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. Always a solid player but never a game changer, this is another long time Big Bluer that is not worth the money, especially with Damontre Moore waiting in the wings and JPP needing a new deal this year or next. The Giants would save 1.8 million against the cap by saying goodbye to this former #1 pick. Here is a fun fact…Kiwi, per Pro Football Focus, is listed as the lowest-ranked defensive end on a 4-3 front.

David Baas: Baas, who restructured his deal this past offseason that lowered his 2013 base salary from $4.25 million to $1.25 million in exchange for the $3 million difference upfront, is scheduled to count for 8.25 million against 2014’s cap. That’s a terrible number for a 32-year-old player with his medical history. If the Giants decide to cut Baas, who per OvertheCap.com is listed as having the fourth highest salary on the team in 2014, they would save 1.775 million due to a $6.45 million dead-money charge, which is not really a significant savings. What they could instead do with Baas is apply one of their two post June 1 cap designations on him to increase their savings. If they take this step, Baas’ total cap figure would remain on the books until June 1, After that, instead of being charged $6.45 million in dead cap money against their 2014 cap, they would only be charged $3.225 million. Thus, the savings on Baas if designated as a post-June 1 cap move would be $5 million.

What have we learned?? The Giants are $17,540,324 under cap. If Reese makes the moves above the Giants can move that number from 17 million under the cap to somewhere in the general area of 34-35 million give or take.

One more move in my opinion must be made this off-season in terms of saving money. I’ve been shouting this for months now, and have tried to communicate with the Giants brass via telepathy, but so far I’ve made no contact, I think.

Restructure Eli: Eli is on the books for 20+ million this year. I’ve said it before and I will say one more time now, the time to restructure is now. for two reasons.

1. Leverage: If you were going to resign Eli long-term and restructure his deal to lessen the hit on the cap, there is no better time than now. Eli is coming off a horrible season, and getting him an extension that makes him a Giant for life and lowers his cap number is the best of both worlds.

2. Money: If Reese can convince Manning to sign an extension now that makes him 15 million a year instead of 20, while securing him as our QB for the duration of his career, everybody wins. Hell, if Tom Brady can restructure Eli Manning can too.

OK, now let us assume that all of these moves have been made. The Giants salary cap number has now jumped from 17 million available, too a whopping 40 million. And I didn’t even need to touch Antrel Rolle’s horrendous 8 million against the cap this year…

Let’s spend some money shall we. First, let us take a look at our own and who I would bring back, at the right price. If you don’t see a name on the list, that means I have released said player…

JPP: He’s not a free agent this year, but will be next year. I apply the leverage way of thinking to JPP as well. Resign him now, JPP is coming off surgery and a less than stellar 2013 campaign. Resigning JPP to a long-term deal now while saving some money should be a priority. If he comes back and has a great year in 2014 we could end up losing him to the highest bidder.

Justin Tuck: Tuck had a great year this season and the Giants should bring him back to finish his career in his Big Blue #91 jersey. But at what price? Considering the Giants have a holes to fill all over this roster how much is Tuck really worth? I’m all for bringing him back, but if the price tag is too high, the smarter move maybe saying good-bye.

Stevie Brown: The Giants missed Brown’s play making ability in the secondary this year and it was painfully obvious. Considering his injury, it shouldn’t cost a lot to bring him back at all. Look for Brown to sign a 1 year deal with maybe an option for a second.

Josh Brown: Veteran kicker who was more accurate than his predecessor Tynes, and had a better percentage of touchbacks.

Jon Beason: Any other play making linebackers we can get for a 7th round pick? Beason wants to return and the Giants want him back, look for this to get done with a cap friendly deal that makes sense for both sides.

Kevin Boothe: Boothe may not be flashy, but he is solid and shouldn’t break the bank. He can start or fill in at either guard spot or center.

I’m sure there are some of you screaming at your computer now. I have said goodbye to Andre Brown, Linval Joseph, Terrell Thomas and Hakeem Nicks. Hey, you can’t make

an omelette without breaking some eggs people. Brown and Thomas have been injury prone and aren’t worth the money at all, any of it. Nicks was worthless this season, and giving him a dime is too much money at this point, if he couldn’t produce and play with some fire in a contract year, how do you just resign him? Joseph is a much harder decision to make, but still it makes sense. Johnathan Hankins graded out very good this season, (Per Pro Football Focus Hankins, who earned snaps as a rookie, didn’t record a single negative grade in his 195 snaps. He finished with an 8.0 overall grade and a 9.5 grade against the run), with Hankins waiting in the wings, does committing 6-8 million a year on Joseph make sense?

There is Part 1 of The BIG BLUEprint, Let the debate begin. What would you do? Who comes back and who is let go in your eyes?

In Part II we will look into potential trades and free agent targets through my warped, yet passionate Big Blue eyes. I for one can not wait to hear your thoughts…good, bad or indifferent. We care what you think here at Bleed Big Blue and we love engaging with our fans about the team we love so much.

P.S. — If part one pissed you off, wait til you read Big Blueprint Part 2.

The post The NY Giants Big Blueprint first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.
