The Giants announced that Brian Daboll will become the 20th head coach in franchise history.
Daboll, 46, spent the previous four seasons as the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator. He joins Joe Schoen, who was hired as general manager a week ago, in a leadership tandem that seeks to improve the fortunes of a franchise that has endured five consecutive losing seasons. Schoen was Buffalo’s assistant general manager during Daboll’s entire tenure with the team.

Daboll also added a statement via the press release.

It is an honor and a privilege to be named head coach of the New York Giants,” said Daboll. “Thank you to Joe Schoen for believing in me and to John Mara and Steve Tisch and their families for entrusting me with this position. My immediate goal is to assemble a coaching staff – a strong staff that emphasizes teaching and collaboration and making sure our players are put in the position to be their best and, ultimately, to win games. That’s why all of us do this. To teach, to be successful, to develop talent, and to win. I have a pretty good idea where our fan base’s feelings are right now, and I get it. I promise we will work our tails off to put a team on the field that you will be proud to support and give us the results we all want.”

Leslie Frazier, who coordinated the NFL’s top-ranked defense in 2021 and whose 23-year NFL coaching career includes a stint as a head coach, today had his second interview for the Giants head coaching position.
Frazier, 62, had his initial conversation with the team on Saturday when he spoke via video conference with team president John Mara, chairman Steve Tisch and Joe Schoen, who was hired a week ago as the Giants’ new general manager.

The New York Giants also added.

Today, Frazier met at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center with Mara, Tisch, Schoen and senior vice president of player personnel Chris Mara. He also met with other members of the front office and toured the team’s facility.

Brian Flores, a four-time Super Bowl winner as an assistant in New England and the Miami Dolphins’ head coach the previous three seasons, today interviewed for the Giants’ head coach position.
Flores, a 40-year-old Brooklyn native, met at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center with team president John Mara, chairman Steve Tisch, senior vice president of player personnel Chris Mara and Joe Schoen, who was formally introduced yesterday as the Giants’ new general manager. He also met with other members of the front office and toured the team’s facility.

The New York Giants also added.

He is the sixth candidate to interview with the Giants’ front office, joining Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, Lou Anarumo of Cincinnati, Dan Quinn of the Cowboys and the Giants’ Patrick Graham. Daboll initially interviewed via teleconference and had a second in-person discussion at team headquarters Tuesday. The meetings with Frazier and Anarumo were done remotely. Frazier is scheduled for a face-to-face follow-up tomorrow. Quinn and Graham were interviewed in the Giants’ facility.

Dan Quinn has informed teams that he’s staying with the #Cowboys, per sources.

Six teams requested head-coaching interviews with Quinn, who decided he wanted to return to Dallas and try to win a Super Bowl. He should be a hot name again next year.

Daboll joined the Bills in 2018 after helping lead Alabama to its 17th national championship in 2017. He was the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach that season.

Daboll has 20 years of NFL coaching experience. He spent 11 seasons with the New England Patriots (2000-06, 2013-16) in a variety of roles and helped the franchise win five Super Bowls (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX and LI). Daboll has been an offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns (2009-10), Miami Dolphins (2011) and Chiefs (2012). He was also the Jets’ quarterbacks coach in 2007-08.

Dan Quinn, a New Jersey native whose stint as the Atlanta Falcons’ coach included a trip to Super Bowl LI, today became the fourth candidate to interview for the Giants’ head coaching position.

Quinn, 51, spent the day at the team’s Quest Diagnostics Training Center and met with team president John Mara, chairman Steve Tisch, senior vice president of player personnel Chris Mara and Joe Schoen, who was hired last week as the Giants’ new general manager. The contenders who preceded him were Buffalo Bills coordinators Brian Daboll (offense) and Leslie Frazier (defense) and Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, who was the Giants’ defensive backs coach in 2018.

The New York Giants also added.

Quinn spent the 2021 season as the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, who won the NFC East title with a 12-5 record. Dallas allowed 21.1 points a game, the NFL’s seventh-lowest figure. The Cowboys were second in third-down defense, allowing conversions on just 34.1% of their opportunities (76 of 223). Dallas had league-high totals of 34 takeaways and 26 interceptions, significant improvements after posting 23 takeaways and 10 picks in 2020, the year prior to Quinn’s arrival.

Tons of moving parts here but it appears that Patrick Graham is interested in staying as the New York Giants defensive coordinator if the situation fits, as reported by Ralph Vacchiano.

The 42-year-old Graham, who will be interviewed for the Giants head coaching vacancy, is interested in staying on as the defensive coordinator under a new head coach, according to someone familiar with his thinking. And many believe the Giants would be open to his return in the right situation.

Here is the New York Giants upcoming week as far as we know. They are scheduled to interview Dan Quinn today. Also on the interview schedule is Brian Flores and Patrick Graham, The exact timing of these interviews are not known at this moment.

The Giants will have to fulfill the Rooney rule and have an in-person interview with a minority coaching candidate before making a hire, according to multiple sources, including Dan Duggan of the Athletic.

So, Daboll is now available to be hired. Giants are interviewing Dan Quinn tomorrow and reportedly will meet with Brian Flores and Patrick Graham. Can’t hire anyone until they do an in-person interview with a minority due to Rooney Rule
