JPP played solid playing in 46 of 63 defensive snaps (73 percent). The numbers show he had two solo tackles, but this does not account for his pressure on Tampas’ quarterback Jameis Winston.

“We definitely made him uncomfortable, He is a good quarterback, he can run, he can scramble. A couple times he got out (of the pocket) and scrambled on us, but we kept our composure and played some good football.” said Pierre-Paul

Coach Coughlin was happy to see JPP back on the field, and felt he was a critical addition to the struggling Giants defense.

“I think the players were excited to have him as a part of our team and have him active tonight, I think he made a couple of outstanding rushes, particularly at the end, when the quarterback was forced to roll right and heave the ball up. That was critical at that time. We didn’t get a sack, but we did pressure. He needs to get his timing down, obviously. He made a couple real good rushes coming up and under. So I think he is just going to get better and better.” said head coach Tom Coughlin

In one of Bucs last possession, they started on their own 20-yard line with 7:18 remaining. They ran eight plays and gained a total of 31 yards, Giants defenders with the hep of JPP pressure they were forced to punt.

“It’s time to win the game,”When it comes down to the fourth quarter, you just have to give everything you got. You got to give everything you got in the game.” JPP said.

With this win the Giants were able to keep their lead in the NFC East. Hopefully G PP can continue to strengthen this Giants defense and hope for a run into the playoffs. Eli Manning felt JPP was disruptive against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and happy to see him out there.

“It was just fun seeing him out there chasing the quarterback,” quarterback Eli Manning said. “We wanted him to get a sack … I definitely saw him chasing the quarterback around, and getting him out of the pocket and making him move. So he was a presence and that’s just after two weeks of practicing. The more practice that he gets, getting back in the lineup, getting more game playing time, will help him, but he was definitely disruptive today and it was good to see that.”

Next week the Giants will play New England which will surely bring up memories of prior Super Bowls. The Giants now stand at 2-2 and are in a three way tie for the NFC East.

We knew it was going to be a tough game. They’re a good team. They played very well. They’re the number one rushing team in the league. We knew all those things. We knew it was going to be a battle, and it was a battle. I thought the offense did a great job in the first half. I thought the defense did a great job throughout the game. We didn’t get the big break on field position today, but we hung in there and we did our job on special teams as well – we eventually covered well. Our punter did an outstanding job. Our kicker came back on that last kickoff and kicked it out of the end zone, so I was pleased with that. The atmosphere out there; the environment was super. I thought it was an electric environment prior to the game. It was an exciting time, a great place to be and I was just thankful to win

The Giants were fueled by an amazing goal line stance that finally shifted momentum their way. Head coach Tom Coughlin saw that as a tremendous series.

No question there because there was plenty of time. There was time left to do whatever they needed to do. I wasn’t pleased with us not getting a first down, but when you’re back against the wall, you’re careful about what you do there. There’s no question about it, it was a tremendous series right there.

Coughlin Looking at the NFC East standings knows the Giants are right in the mix now.

It’s wide open. It’s still too early to say anybody is the favorite, which is a good thing. You start off 0-2, it’s tough to stay in the race, especially when you lose a divisional game, but we’re just excited to win this game and now all the focus is on the 49ers.

This past win was probably one of our biggest in the past two years, but now we welcome San Francisco to MetLife Stadium.

Please leave a comment below!

The post Giants Defeat Buffalo, 24-10 first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

 <post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">4650</post-id>

For the Love of the Giants

Guest Blogger

Giants Pride

Guest Writers

New York Giants News

Headline

Michael Strahan

For the Love of the Giants As I stand amongst my family…

The post For the Love of the Giants first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

For the Love of the Giants

As I stand amongst my family and friends dressed in my favorite blue and white jersey with the name Strahan written across the back, I stare ever so patiently watching the empty tunnel on the field that will soon be filled with the mighty men that make up my favorite team the New York Football Giants.

As I wait I think about the anticipation that I feel to watch the Giants play, then I feel anxious. Anxious that the game isn’t going to turn out in favor of the Giants, then it happens! I see the team that I love leaving the tunnel. I can see the players dressed in the same blue and white jerseys that I wear and at that moment all I feel is pride!

All of the anxiousness that I once possessed is gone in that moment. The mere sight of this team and the amount of passion that I feel for them, in that instant everything else is obsolete. I know that with every completed pass and every run that converts to a 1st down it takes the Giants one step closer to that end zone. And when they make it down that long field into that end zone and I see the ref signal that there is a touch down the elation that I feel consumes me!

Every play that is called and is executed perfectly from beginning to end shows me the amount of skill and talent that this team truly does posses. I know that every play won’t be successful, but it’s the fight and will that the Giants have to always improve that makes me love and respect them so much. Even when they have played a terrible game where hardly anything has went their way they always strive to improve, and us as fans have to always stand behind our boys in blue and white and support them in every way that we know how.

It’s the fans that drive the Giants to constantly want to fight harder and do better. They know the undying love that their fans have for them, and they never want to disappoint us or ever let us down. We all stand together as one unit fighting towards the same goal, to be Super Bowl Champs once again!

As the offseason ends and the start of a new season begins, we are all very excited and anxious to see what kind of season that Big Blue will have. After a few seasons of disappointment for this team and their fans, we all hang on to the hope that this upcoming season will be an outstanding one for the G-Men. Last season was squandered with many low scoring games and a team that was just racked with injuries. Even being down so many players, by the end of the season we all still saw the Giants fighting and improving. This is a team that will never give up. It’s for our love of the Giants why this team will keep on striving for greatness and will one day be champs once again!

“For the Love of the Giants” was written by Guest blogger Mandy Moses Please leave feedback in the comment field below, I would love to know what you think.

The post For the Love of the Giants first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

 <post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">4035</post-id>

The Giants Return

Guest Blogger

Giants Pride

New York Giants News

Odell Beckham Jr

Steve Spagnuolo

Victor Cruz

The Giants Return Now that the Giants season is over for this…

The post The Giants Return first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

The Giants Return

Now that the Giants season is over for this year many fans are wondering, what will the Giants season look like in the upcoming year? After three seasons with subpar records for the Giants many fans have been left with the question if the Giants will have a winning record in the follow season. In my opinion my reply is YES!!!!!!!!

At the start of last season Giants fans had a great deal of disappointment. With an 0-6 start to the prior season it didn’t leave us fans with much to cheer about. This past year the team was wracked with injuries to many key players who were out for the season (Victor Cruz was a huge loss for the G-Men). A new offensive scheme that really didn’t seem to be catching on. It made us all wonder if the Giants would even win a game (I know that I became extremely concerned that there was a slight possibility that might happen).

Then a great light hit the Giants with the return of rookie WR Odell Beckham Jr.! No fan had really had a chance to see his skills in the Giants offense previously, but when we did finally see Beckham Jr. in action the sight of his amazing athletic abilities left everyone speechless! When we saw Odell make that astonishing one handed three fingered catch against their rival Dallas it was a sight of pure beauty. I refer to that catch as the catch that was heard throughout the world. Not a person that saw it (Giants fan or not) will say that it was an amazing moment in football. After the loss of Cruz for the season, the beginning of Beckham Jr.’s professional career was exactly what the offense needed. Looking forward into next season, I can see many awe-inspiring catches and touchdowns in store for Beckham Jr. and the Giants once struggling offense.

Besides Odell and his many talents Eli Manning’s stats became increasingly better and his passes much more accurate by the end of the season. I believe with Manning on track, and with the return of a healthy Victor Cruz, who will be playing up to the caliber that us fans are already accustom to it will help the offense immensely. Then we add in Odell Beckham Jr. to play opposite Cruz the outcome will be magnificent! The offense will look like the Giants of old. Fans will see a fast moving high scoring offense that will leave us all chanting GO Big Blue!

The defense was in the average last season I would say. They had games where their great strengths had kept the Giants in the fight. Also there were games where the defense just couldn’t stop the oncoming offense. Like the offense, the Giants defense was also wracked with quite a few injuries this season, which makes it harder for the defense to stop some of the outstanding offensive talents that the Giants have faced this past season. I think that everyone would agree that the Giants schedule was not the easiest last season. However, with the recent rehire of the Giants previous defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo (He coached the Giants D to their last Super bowl Title in 2011) and a strong and healthy defense I can see next season going much smoother for the team.

With many decisions still left to be made this off season regarding trades and also the upcoming draft in May we still don’t have all of our answers set in stone. All I know is that after watching the Giants improve greatly by the end of the season. The offense was really starting to come together with Ben Macadoo’s new scheme for them and with smart changes being made on behalf of the owners, GM, and coaches I can already see the upcoming year being a winning one for Big Blue. Hopefully fans will see our G-Men fighting for another Super bowl title next season!

The Giants Return. was written by Guest blogger Mandy Moses Please leave feedback in the comment field below, I would love to know what you think.

The post The Giants Return first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

 <post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">3735</post-id>

The Giants Should Sign Eli Manning To A Contract Extension

Jon

Giants Pride

In Reese We Trust

New York Giants News

Off Season

Eli Manning

Headline

The Giants Should Sign Eli Manning to a Contract Extension. Unless changed he will start the 2015 season with one year remaining on his current contract. He is scheduled to make $17.5 million next season and will count $19.75 million against the salary cap next season. He’s more than willing to enter 2015 without an extension that guarantees his job security past next season

“I don’t mind playing on the final year of the contract. It does not bother or me or make me worry about one thing,” Manning said. NJ Advance Media

However, the Giants should sign him to a contract extension.

Despite the 6-10 record of his team, Manning was one of the few bright spots. Statistically this year was one of the best seasons of Manning’s career despite learning a new offense for the first time since his rookie season. He finished with 30 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in the first-year offense coordinated by Ben McAdoo. The 30 touchdowns and 4,410 yards passing were also the second most of his career. Despite attempting the most passes of his career, he threw the second fewest interceptions in his career, only behind 2008 when he threw only ten. If the Giants intend for Manning to be their quarterback for the foreseeable future, which is in the best interest of the team, it would befit them to sign him to an extension. The additional years would allow them to lower his salary cap number considerably and allow for the team to address glaring needs on defense in free agency.

Manning and the Giants offense improved considerably as the season went on. They averaged 29.8 points over the final five games and won 3 of those contests. Manning averaged 315 yards passing in those contests, and looked substantially more comfortable in the West Coast-style offense. In one of the wins, they scored 37 points and gained 514 total yards against a stout Rams’ defense that was one of the best in the league. In that game, Manning threw for 391 yards and 3 touchdowns without throwing a single interception.
He has also developed great chemistry with young stud wide receiver and Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite Odell Beckham Jr. They have developed great trust in one another despite only playing three-quarters of the season together. This chemistry will continue to progress for years to come. Manning will also have a full offseason to perfect his understanding of the intricacies of the offense heading into 2015, unlike last offseason where he had to start from scratch.

Manning is clearly the best option at quarterback for the Giants moving forward. Coming off of the worst season of his career in 2013, there was uncertainty if he was the Giants’ best option for the present and future at quarterback. But, his 2014 campaign hushed all of the concern. Eli Manning gives them the best chance to win over any replacement they may acquire. The 2-time Super Bowl winning quarterback who has started 167 straight games is still the Giants’ franchise quarterback and should be the franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future.

The post The Giants Should Sign Eli Manning To A Contract Extension first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

 <post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">3652</post-id>

Giants And Eagles Play For Pride

tmerritt51

Giants Pride

New York Giants Game Preview

New York Giants News

Ben McAdoo

Headline

Odell Beckham Jr

Giants And Eagles Play For Pride It is week 17 and this…

The post Giants And Eagles Play For Pride first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

Giants And Eagles Play For Pride

It is week 17 and this is the end of a tough, rebuilding season for the Giants. But they are on a 3 game winning streak right now and want to end the season by extending that number to 4. The Giants face the Eagles who beat them easily earlier in the season but I will give you my reasons why the Giants will extend that winning streak along with getting revenge on the Eagles.

The momentum is with the Giants:

Both teams are riding 3 game streaks the difference is that the Giants are on a winning one and the Eagles on a losing one. The Giants are gaining confidence with every victory while also gaining hope for what they are capable of next season. The Eagles went from almost a lock to win the division to being completely out of the playoffs. Eli is coming off his best game of the year while Mark Sanchez ended the Eagles playoff hopes with an interception at the end of the game that gave that game away. Odell Beckham Jr. is on one of the best receiving runs of all time while the Eagles secondary continues to get torched, which is a big reason for their losing streak. Everything is starting to go right for the Giants and the exact opposite is happing for the Eagles to end this season.

Giants continue to ride this winning momentum Giants and Eagles play for pride= Giants win.

The Giants offensive system is finally working:

Ben McAdoo came in with an offensive system from Green Bay, which was supposed to allow them to be more explosive while also decreasing the amount of turnovers. Well it took awhile but the Giants have learned the system. The Giants just faced a defense that did not give up an offensive touchdown in the 3 games prior but they put up 37 points on them. The Giants had a 391 yards passer, 2 100+ yard Wrs and 100+ yard rusher in that game. The biggest thing that you should take out of the game against the Rams, which have one of the defensive fronts in the league, the Giants only gave up one sack. The Giants are getting better on offense facing an Eagles team that is 25th in passing defense and have given up 29 passing touchdowns. The better the offense plays the more time the defense gets to rest so they can perform at the top of their game.

Giants offense passing all over the Eagles = Giants win.

The Giants want revenge:

The Giants were humiliated in Philadelphia when they were shut out 27-0 in week 6. The Giants not only lost the game but also lost Victor Cruz with a season ending injury. The Giants have since learned how to play without Cruz and it allowed Odell Beckham Jr. to fill that number 1 Wr role, which he has done as well as anyone has ever done. The Eagles started the Giants on that 7 game losing streak and based on comments made by players this week that is not forgotten. The Giants have come together since that game showing that they are learning the systems put in place, showing an excitement/ want to win, and they are playing for one another. There was a brawl in this past game with the Rams but it was teammates sticking up for one another and Tom Coughlin didn’t even have a problem with it, showing that he knows it is a good thing. There was a big turnover in the roster this past offseason but now it seems that have bought in and playing together granted it was too late to make a difference for this season. This game is at home for the Giants not only will they want to avenge the shut out loss, but also they will want to show the fans what kind of team they can expect next year.

The Giants playing for more than a game = Giants win.

The post Giants And Eagles Play For Pride first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

 <post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">3628</post-id>

Giants Pride

Guest Blogger

Giants Pride

Guest Writers

New York Giants News

New York Giants

Giants Pride A pride is a group of lions who are willing…

The post Giants Pride first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

Giants Pride

A pride is a group of lions who are willing to defend their territory from any intruders. These magestic and loyal animals will protect the other members of their group at any cost. Every member of the pride is equally important and they all work together as one unit. Lions in the wild have adapted these traits as a means of survival. Lions are also one of the most powerful and intellegent animals on the planet. Working as a “team” is imparititve to the prides survival. Like the lions, professional football players have also conformed many of the same traits as these mighty animals, but the New York Giants have adapted the word pride as part of their motto.

Giants pride is a phrase that many football fans have most likely heard, however only Giants fans truly know what the phrase means. This team has made this phrase part of who they are and what their team stands for. Not any one individual on that team is anymore important then any other member. Each of those men will protect the others to the best of their abilities. Also, the pride means to have feelings of self-respect and personal worth. In the case of the New York Giants every person on that team must have “pride” in themselves and their individual skills that they bring to the team, but at the same time they need to be part of the “pride” and work together as one unit.
As the Giants prepare to take the field every week not one practice will end nor will one game begin until every person on that team has tapped the sign on the wall to their right that reads Giants Pride. This simple action symbolizes that every member of that team is willing and ready to protect any other member to the best of their abilities, and every person is completely prepared to give it everything that they have. They win as a team and they lose as a team. They have and always will stand as a united front.

This is why I am such a dedicated Giants fan. When I hear the phrase Giants pride I know what it stands for. When I see the members of the team that I love tap that sign it brings tears to my eyes. The act itself is just so inspiring. At that point, win the game or lose the game, it doesn’t really matter. Of course you always want to see them be victorious, but it is the teamwork and respect that they have for each other that makes the New York Giants such an inspiration to watch. Giants Pride each and everyday!

Giants Pride was written by Guest blogger Mandy Moses Please leave feedback in the comment field below, I would love to know what you think.

The post Giants Pride first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

 <post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">3589</post-id>

MY ALL TIME NY GIANTS TEAM

James Doino

Giants Pride

Giants Stadium

Hall of Fame

New York Giants News

Bill Parcells

Eli Manning

My All Time NY Giants Team Hello Bleed Big Bluers… I was…

The post MY ALL TIME NY GIANTS TEAM first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

My All Time NY Giants Team

Hello Bleed Big Bluers…

I was recently asked by our fearless leader Marco here at Bleed Big Blue to put together my All Time Giants team. That leaves a lot of room for debate among anyone who Bleeds Big Blue, I mean we are a pretty passionate bunch to say the least. So I decided to stay true to myself. This is my All-Time Giants Team right? I’m pretty sure every fan of every team has an all time greatest team. So you make yours, but this my friends, is mine.

Lets start with this…

Got chills?…We all have a passion for this team and the memories they have brought us. No matter your age, if you are a fan, you have an idea in your head of who the greatest players in said teams franchise history are…Let the debate rage on….

Coach – Bill Parcells – Coughlin gets a lot of consideration, but let’s not forget who taught him.

Offensive Coordinator – Tom Coughlin

Defensive Coordinator – Vince Lombardi

Offense:

QB – Phil Simms – I know all about Eli, but I’m a Simms guy, and I still say if he had as many WR’s to throw to as Eli, or even Kerri Collins for that matter, Simms might have a Bust in Canton. The other thing is, with the personalities I have on this team, I need a QB who isn’t afraid to grab a guy by the face mask and curse him out every now and again. #22of25

Back-Up QB – Eli Manning – This is probably the area of the team where I will be most criticized, Eli is in the midst of probably, if not already, becoming the Giants greatest QB of all time. He handles himself with class and I’m proud that he is the face of this franchise today. He is the only Giants QB with two Super Bowl MVP’s and has accounted for some of the most memorable plays of our history of our storied franchise, and in only the last decade…I get the argument here….but again, I’m a Simms guy.

RB – Tiki Barber – I have a genuine dislike for Tiki Barber, but hard to argue with what he did on the field. The numbers speak for themselves…We forget how good he was.

Goal Line RB – O.J.
