The second round of interviews for their general manager position concluded on Thursday and there will be no need for a third round. The three finalists this week were all given ample opportunity to state their cases in full-day meetings. By Friday, the Giants should have their choice and then the heavy lifting will begin to find their next head coach.

A formal press conference to introduce the new general manager will not happen until Monday, at the earliest, but the work to begin rebuilding a broken franchise begins as soon as the hiring is made official.

Seems like the 1st round of candidates for the vacant New York Giants GM job has closed, and the have moved on to the second round of interviews. Multiple reports have Joe Schoen getting the 1st to crack 2nd interview.

Carthon spoke with president John Mara, chairman Steve Tisch and senior vice president of player personnel Chris Mara this morning by videoconference. The initial interviews with candidates are being conducted remotely.

Carthon, 40, is completing his first season as the San Francisco 49ers’ director of player personnel after serving four seasons as the club’s director of pro personnel. In his role, Carthon manages the pro scouting department in evaluating players among professional leagues while continuing his duties of advance scouting the 49ers’ upcoming opponents. In addition, he prepares the club for acquisitions through free agency, trades and the daily waiver wire.

Hortiz spoke with president John Mara, chairman Steve Tisch and senior vice president of player personnel Chris Mara this morning by videoconference. The initial interviews with candidates are being conducted remotely.

Hortiz, 46, is completing his 24th season with the Baltimore Ravens and third as director of player personnel. He works closely with George Kokinis, the team’s other director of player personnel, to oversee all aspects of college and pro scouting for Baltimore. The pair serve as general manager Eric DeCosta’s chief personnel evaluators.
