When healthy, Amukamara proved that he can be a top cornerback in the league, but availability continues to be the primary concern. Missing 25 out of 80 games might be costly in the open marketplace. Amukamara spoke openly Sirius XM Radio

“I feel like I’ve put out on film that when I’m on the field, I can definitely play and play as good as anybody,” Amukamara said. “But . . . I do have that injury bug or whatever attached to me. But I think my film, like I said is great enough to put me in a position to be one of the top corners to be picked up.”

Rumors began to circulate that Amukamara was looking for $10 million per year, placing him in the top tier for cornerback salaries. These rumors have died down of late.

The Giants General Manager Jerry Reese has over $55 million to use this off season, and may choose to move in another direction because of the strong options at cornerback.

Panthers Josh Norman, Rams Janoris Jenkins & Bengals Leon Hall all could hit free agancy unless they are marked with their respected teams franchise tag.

“I do hope to be back,” Amukamara said during an interview on Sirius XM Radio. “I feel like the organization is a great fit for me, and I do feel like they have expressed an interest. … From what coach (Ben) McAdoo is saying, it looks like they’re going to build a great team. So I’m excited about that.”

Only time will tell how this would play out. I’m sure Jerry Reese would call this “due diligence”. The NFL continues to flirt with expansion into London and possible new avenues into playing in the NFL. Last year Jerry Reese signed Canadian Center Brett Jones, this year two European players will travel to New York for a work out.

NFL Draft Diamonds featured both players prior. Here are their findings.

Harry Innis is a 6’7 tight end who we have featured many times on NFL Draft Diamonds. Innis is a tall tight end with soft hands. He entered the new program assisted by the NFL and former NFL player Osi Umenyiora a few months ago. Innis has the same size/attributes as Rob Gronkowski. He has been playing American football overseas and was a stud for Kiel Baltic of the German Football League, and finished last season with Senajoki Crocodiles.

D’Anthony Dable’ the 6’4 physical wide out is another player who will be visiting the New York Giants next week. Dable’ is a very quick player with great hands. Both players played overseas and both were standouts in their conferences.

With Osi Umenyiora as an NFL ambassador in London maybe other foreign born players will get a few looks at making a roster.

The post Giants To Work Out Two European Players first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

 <post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">5468</post-id>

Barry Cofield Rejoining Giants

Marco Ceo

In Reese We Trust

New York Giants News

NFL News

Barry Cofield

Headline

Jerry Reese

Barry Cofield Rejoining Giants The Giants made it official this morning announcing…

The post Barry Cofield Rejoining Giants first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

Barry Cofield Rejoining Giants

The Giants made it official this morning announcing that they re-signed DT Barry Cofield. Zak DeOssie will miss time with a wrist injury and TE Larry Donnell will also be shut down with lingering neck issues, according to Giants.com

Long snapper Zak DeOssie, who has not missed a game in his eight-year career, was placed on injured reserve with a wrist injury. Since joining the Giants as a fourth-round draft choice in 2007, he has played in 140 consecutive games, the second-longest active streak on the team, behind only Eli Manning’s 179 straight appearances.
DeOssie is the second of the Giants’ three season-long captains to go in injured reserve, joining linebacker Jon Beason (who has been on I.R. since Nov. 7). Manning is the third team captain. DeOssie has been elected a captain by his teammates each of the last five seasons.
The Giants also placed tight end Larry Donnell on injured reserve because of the neck injury he suffered at New Orleans on Nov. 1. Donnell has missed the last four games.

There is a lot of talent on our injured reserve list.
