He’s not coming into the NFL expected to be a star, but he has the size and strength to compete for snaps as a run-stuffing defensive tackle.

Bobby Jamison-Travis Took the Hard Road to the NFL

Jamison-Travis wasn’t an overnight success at Auburn.

After seeing very little playing time early in his college career, he worked his way up the depth chart through hard work and consistency. By 2024, he had earned a starting role, finishing the season with 14 tackles and a sack.

His biggest leap came during his senior season in 2025. Starting all 12 games at nose tackle, Jamison-Travis recorded 36 tackles and two tackles for loss while helping anchor one of the nation’s best run defenses. Auburn finished inside the top 10 nationally in rushing defense, and he played a big role in making that happen.

What Bobby Jamison-Travis Brings to the Giants

At 328 pounds with long arms, Jamison-Travis has the frame NFL teams look for in a true nose tackle.

His game starts with stopping the run. He fires off the ball quickly, uses his hands well, and does a good job occupying blockers at the point of attack. He’s built to clog running lanes, hold his ground inside, and free up linebackers to make plays.

While he isn’t going to rack up sacks, players like Jamison-Travis can still have an important role in today’s NFL by doing the dirty work that doesn’t always show up in the box score.

Areas That Need Development

Like many Day 3 draft picks, there’s a reason Jamison-Travis was available in the fifth round.

His biggest limitation is as a pass rusher. Right now, most of his success comes from simply bull-rushing offensive linemen, and he’ll need to develop more counter moves if he wants to become an every-down player.

His straight-line speed is also below average, limiting his range outside the tackles, and stronger NFL offensive lines will test his ability to consistently hold up against double teams.

At this stage, he projects primarily as an early-down run defender.

My Take

I’ll also be honest, once we get into the later rounds of the draft, I’m not as familiar with these prospects as I am with the Day 1 and Day 2 picks. At this point, my expectations change. You’re no longer looking for immediate starters, you’re looking for players who can compete for a roster spot, contribute on special teams, or develop into quality rotational pieces.

Bobby Jamison-Travis fits that mold. His ability to stop the run gives him a legitimate chance to earn a role, and that’s all you can really ask for from a fifth-round selection.

With John Harbaugh putting an emphasis on building a tougher, more physical football team, adding another big body to the defensive front makes sense. If Jamison-Travis develops into a reliable rotational nose tackle, this pick will have been well worth the investment.

Rep The Team No Matter What!

Through the highs and the lows, we bleed blue. Interestingly, this was the first of the Giants’ back-to-back selections late on Day 3 as they continued adding depth to the roster.

I’ll be honest, once you get into the later rounds of the draft, I’m not overly familiar with a lot of these prospects. That’s just the reality of Day 3. At this point in the draft, you’re looking for players who can compete, earn a roster spot, contribute on special teams, and hopefully develop into something more over time.

Jack Kelly is one of those players that I had to do some homework on after hearing his name called. I spent some time watching YouTube highlights, reading scouting reports, and trying to get a feel for the type of player the Giants are bringing in.

A Productive Career at BYU

Kelly transferred to BYU after beginning his college career at Weber State, and he quickly made an impact with the Cougars. During his final season, he earned First-Team All-Big 12 honors while leading the team with 10 sacks.

One thing that stood out while watching his film is his versatility. He doesn’t look like a linebacker who is limited to one role. He can rush the passer, drop into coverage when asked, and appears to have a relentless motor that coaches love.

Heading into the draft, Kelly was generally viewed as a Day 3 prospect, although some analysts believed he had the upside to come off the board much earlier.

Scouting Report

Strengths

Excellent timing as a blitzer.

High motor and relentless effort.

Shows good closing speed when attacking the quarterback.

Has the athletic profile to become a valuable special teams contributor.

Positional versatility gives coaches multiple ways to use him.

Areas to Improve

Like many sixth-round picks, Kelly is far from a finished product.

Scouts noted that he can be inconsistent defending the run and doesn’t always have elite sideline-to-sideline speed. Those are areas the Giants coaching staff will undoubtedly look to improve as he develops.

My Take

This is another pick where I’m trusting the Giants’ scouting department more than my own opinion because I simply hadn’t watched much of Jack Kelly before the draft.

After spending some time watching his highlights, though, I can definitely see why New York was interested. He plays with energy, gets after the quarterback, and seems to have the type of motor that gives late-round players a chance to stick in the NFL.

Realistically, his first opportunity is probably going to come on special teams while he works his way into the defensive rotation. If he embraces that role and continues to develop, maybe this winds up being one of those late-round picks that quietly outperforms expectations.

You can never have enough linebackers who play hard and bring versatility. Hopefully Jack Kelly can blossom with the Giants and become another successful Day 3 find.

Rep The Team No Matter What!

Through the highs and the lows, we bleed blue. At this point in the draft, I’m really looking for players who have a chance to make the roster, compete for a backup role, or develop into contributors over time. So after the pick was announced, I did what most fans probably did, I watched some tape, checked out a few scouting reports, and tried to get a better feel for what the Giants are getting.

A Productive Career at Illinois

After transferring to Illinois, Davis became a fixture on the offensive line, starting all 25 games over his two seasons there. He finished his college career with an impressive 49 consecutive starts, showing the durability and consistency NFL teams love.

One of the more impressive notes from his résumé came in the Citrus Bowl against South Carolina, where he allowed zero pressures against a talented defensive front. He also finished the 2025 season as Pro Football Focus’ No. 3 graded left tackle in the country and earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors.

Those are accomplishments that certainly stand out for a Day 3 selection.

What Stands Out on Film?

The first thing you notice is his size. Davis has the thick frame, long arms, and strength that offensive line coaches like to work with.

He plays with good power in the run game and can move defenders once he gets his feet underneath him. He also appears comfortable recognizing stunts and twists, something that often gives young offensive linemen trouble. His experience really shows in those situations.

Another positive is his durability. Making 49 consecutive starts at the college level isn’t easy, and availability is an important trait for any offensive lineman trying to earn a roster spot.

Areas That Need Improvement

Like most sixth-round picks, there’s a reason Davis was still available.

The biggest concerns seem to revolve around his technique. His hand placement, balance, and posture can become inconsistent, which causes problems against better pass rushers. When his hands are late, he tends to lean forward, making it easier for defenders to counter with secondary moves.

The encouraging part is that these feel like coachable issues. The Giants’ coaching staff will have plenty to work on, but the physical tools are there.

My Take

This feels like exactly the type of pick you make late in the draft.

You’re not expecting an immediate starter. Instead, you’re drafting someone with size, experience, and enough upside to compete for a roster spot while developing behind the scenes.

After spending some time watching him and reading through the scouting reports, I can see why the Giants took a chance here. Davis has played a lot of football, has been durable throughout his career, and has shown he can hold his own against quality competition.

If the Giants can clean up some of his technical issues, there’s a path for him to become a valuable swing tackle who can provide depth at both tackle positions. That’s exactly the type of player you’re hoping to find in the sixth round, and if he develops into more than that, this could end up being one of those under-the-radar selections that pays off.

Rep The Team No Matter What!

Through the highs and the lows, we bleed blue. That’s exactly what happened here, as the Giants targeted one of the biggest receivers in this year’s class to add another weapon for rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Giants Add Size to the Wide Receiver Room

At 6-foot-4½ and 218 pounds, Fields immediately gives the Giants something they haven’t had much of in recent years, a true big-bodied receiver who can win contested catches and make life easier for his quarterback.

Fields spent most of his college career at Virginia before transferring to Notre Dame for his final season. The move paid off, as he averaged an impressive 17.5 yards per reception while becoming one of the better contested-catch receivers in college football.

His game isn’t built around blazing speed. Instead, Fields wins with size, body positioning, strong hands, and excellent body control, making him a reliable target on third down and in the red zone.

What Malachi Fields Brings to New York

Fields played primarily as an outside receiver during his college career, lining up on the perimeter for roughly 90 percent of his snaps. While he has the versatility to move inside as a big slot receiver, his frame and catch radius make him a natural fit on the outside.

The biggest concern entering the draft was his speed. Fields ran a 4.61-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, leading some scouts to question whether he can consistently separate from NFL cornerbacks.

Fortunately, not every receiver needs to win with speed. Plenty of successful NFL receivers have built long careers by using size, leverage, and physicality instead of elite acceleration.

My Take

The fact that the Giants traded up to get Malachi Fields tells me they saw something they didn’t think would still be available later in the third round. When a front office is willing to give up draft capital to move up, there’s usually a belief that the player’s upside is worth the investment.

Naturally, Giants fans are going to draw comparisons to Plaxico Burress. That’s probably unavoidable when you’re talking about a receiver with Fields’ size and ability to win contested catches. I’m not saying he’ll become the next Plaxico, that’s a high bar to clear, but you can certainly see why the comparison will come up.

Final Thoughts

Malachi Fields may not have entered the NFL as the fastest receiver in the draft, but he brings traits that are becoming increasingly valuable. His size, toughness, and ability to make difficult catches should give the Giants another dimension on offense.

If he develops the way New York believes he can, don’t be surprised if fans look back at the Giants’ decision to trade up in the third round as one of the smarter moves of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Rep The Team No Matter What!

Through the highs and the lows, we bleed blue. Many mock drafts had him coming off the board somewhere between picks No. 16 and No. 29, but he unexpectedly slipped into Day 2. For the Giants, that created an opportunity they couldn’t pass up.

A First-Round Talent Falls to the Giants

While Hood’s draft stock took a slight hit because of some inconsistent tape in off coverage and route recognition, there was never much debate about his physical ability.

At 6-foot with outstanding length, Hood has everything teams look for in a modern NFL cornerback. He’s physical at the line of scrimmage, plays with confidence in press-man coverage, and isn’t afraid to come downhill and make tackles in the run game.

That’s exactly the type of mentality John Harbaugh and this new coaching staff are trying to build.

Elite Athletic Traits

Hood backed up his film with an outstanding performance during the pre-draft process.

He ran a 4.44-second 40-yard dash while posting an impressive 40.5-inch vertical jump, earning an 84 Athleticism Score from Next Gen Stats. Those numbers confirm what shows up on film, he has the explosiveness and recovery speed to match up with NFL receivers.

His combination of size, speed, and physicality gives him one of the highest ceilings among cornerbacks in this draft class.

Physical Corner Who Loves to Compete

One of Hood’s biggest strengths is his ability to play press coverage.

He uses his length well to disrupt receivers at the line of scrimmage and has the footwork to mirror routes downfield. Wide receivers rarely get clean releases against him, making him a difficult matchup in one-on-one situations.

He’s also one of the better run-defending cornerbacks in this class. Hood isn’t afraid to stick his nose into the action and consistently works to set the edge and prevent big gains on the outside.

That toughness should make him an immediate favorite among Giants fans.

Production at Tennessee

After transferring to Tennessee, Hood quickly became one of the SEC’s top defensive backs.

He earned Second-Team All-SEC honors and was named a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award after putting together an impressive season that included both an interception return touchdown and a fumble return touchdown.

According to Pro Football Focus, Hood finished his final collegiate season with an outstanding 83.3 coverage grade, ranking second among SEC cornerbacks.

Those numbers back up the talent evaluators who viewed him as one of the best defensive backs available.

My Take

I think the Giants got good value here, but I also think where Colton Hood was selected feels about right.

What Giants fans are going to love is the way he plays. Hood brings a fiery attitude, plays with confidence, celebrates big plays, and isn’t afraid to get physical. That swagger is something this defense has been missing at times.

It feels like Giants fans have been searching for a true lockdown cornerback forever. That’s a big expectation to put on any rookie, but Hood has the athletic ability and competitive mindset to give himself a chance. If this coaching staff can help polish the rough edges of his game, the Giants may have found their long-term answer at cornerback.

Rep The Team No Matter What!

Through the highs and the lows, we bleed blue. More importantly, his selection continues a clear trend under head coach John Harbaugh: build a tougher, more physical football team from the trenches out.

The Giants Continue to Invest in the Offensive Line

You don’t draft an offensive lineman in the top 10 unless you believe he can make an immediate impact.

The Giants clearly viewed Mauigoa as a Day 1 starter, someone capable of protecting franchise quarterback Jaxson Dart while helping establish the physical running game Harbaugh wants to build.

Over the last few seasons, the offensive line has been one of the biggest question marks on the roster. Drafting Mauigoa shows the organization is committed to changing that.

An Elite College Resume

Mauigoa leaves Miami as one of the most decorated offensive linemen in college football.

During the 2025 season, he earned First-Team All-American honors while taking home the ACC’s prestigious Jacobs Blocking Trophy, awarded annually to the conference’s top offensive lineman.

His consistency was just as impressive as his accolades. Mauigoa started 42 consecutive games for the Hurricanes and surrendered only three sacks over his final two collegiate seasons.

That’s exactly the type of reliability NFL teams look for when investing a premium draft pick.

Built for the NFL

One of the first things that jumps out when watching Mauigoa is his size and power.

He possesses the thick frame, natural strength, and anchor needed to handle NFL pass rushers. Bull rushes rarely move him off his spot, and his footwork allows him to stay balanced against speed rushers as well.

He’s also an effective run blocker, using his strength to create movement at the line of scrimmage while finishing plays with a physical edge.

Those traits fit perfectly with the identity the Giants appear to be building.

My Take

I like this pick.

I’ll admit, when the Giants were on the clock I was expecting them to take Caleb Downs. Then, watching him go to the Cowboys with the very next pick was a little tough to stomach.

That said, the more I think about it, the more I believe Francis Mauigoa may end up being the better selection.

John Harbaugh has made it clear he wants to build this team from the line of scrimmage out. You don’t become a physical football team without investing in the offensive line, and Mauigoa has all the tools to be a cornerstone player for the next decade.

If Jaxson Dart is going to become the franchise quarterback Giants fans hope he can be, protecting him has to be the priority. A dominant offensive tackle impacts every single offensive snap, and Mauigoa has the talent to be that kind of player.

It may have been difficult watching Downs land in Dallas, but a few years from now we could be looking back and saying the Giants made the right call.

Rep The Team No Matter What!

Through the highs and the lows, we bleed blue. It was about adding a player who fits exactly what head coach John Harbaugh wants to build on defense.

A Defensive Chess Piece

At 6-foot-4 and 243 pounds, Reese has the size to hold his own in the middle of the defense, but what really separates him is his athleticism. He reportedly ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash, giving him rare speed for a player of his size.

That combination allows the Giants to move him all over the field. He can line up as an off-ball linebacker on one play, then rush the quarterback off the edge on the next. That kind of versatility is something defensive coordinators love because it makes life much harder on opposing offenses.

Built for John Harbaugh’s Defense

One thing we’ve already seen from John Harbaugh is that he wants to build a physical, aggressive football team. Reese checks every one of those boxes.

His speed, size, and ability to close on the football should make him a dangerous weapon in blitz packages, while also giving the Giants another defender capable of making plays in space.

The Giants aren’t asking Reese to do just one job. They’re bringing him in to be a difference-maker all over the field.

A Stronger Front Seven

Reese also walks into a great situation. Instead of being asked to carry the defense by himself, he’ll join a talented front seven that already features veterans like Tremaine Edmunds, Brian Burns, and Abdul Carter.

With offenses forced to account for multiple pass rushers, Reese should have plenty of opportunities to make an impact as both a run defender and pass rusher.

Final Thoughts

I really like this pick. Reese gives the Giants another versatile athlete who fits the identity Harbaugh is trying to establish. He’s physical, explosive, and has the flexibility to line up in multiple roles.

If he develops the way many expect, Arvell Reese could become one of the key building blocks of the Giants’ defense for years to come.

Rep The Team No Matter What!

Through the highs and the lows, we bleed blue. Black stands 6 feet tall and weighs 192 pounds, bringing solid size and youth to the Giants’ secondary.

The Giants had already added key players like Abdul Carter, Jaxson Dart, Darius Alexander, Cam Skattebo, Marcus Mbow, and Thomas Fidone before rounding out their draft class with Black. His arrival adds more depth to the cornerback room and could help shore up the back end of the defense.

Korie Black’s Strong College Career

Black spent five years with the Cowboys, appearing in 62 games and making 38 starts. His final season in 2024 was impressive: he was voted a team captain, earned All-Big 12 honorable mention honors, and started all 12 games. He led his team with three interceptions, ranking eighth in the Big 12 and 53rd in the FBS.

In 2023, Black allowed just 16 receptions across more than 350 coverage snaps, ranking third among FBS cornerbacks per PFF. He also earned the title of OSU’s Defensive MVP against Central Arkansas, where he showed his all-around ability with a tackle for loss, a pass breakup, a forced fumble, and a blocked field goal.

Scouting Report Highlights.

According to ESPN, Black shows good recovery speed and the ability to make plays even when out of position. He has a knack for reaching around receivers to break up passes without drawing penalties. Although he doesn’t catch every ball he contests, he’s reliable at extending and plucking passes out of the air.

While Black wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine, he impressed at his pro day, showing off his athleticism. The Giants are hopeful that his instincts and competitive play will make him a valuable contributor.

🛍️ Rep the Team, No Matter What!

Even through the ups and downs, we bleed blue. After suffering two knee injuries early in his college career, he worked hard to rehab and earned a starting role for Nebraska over the past two seasons. Instead of returning for another year of eligibility, he made the bold decision to enter the NFL Draft.

Strong Academic and Athletic Background.

Fidone’s accomplishments extend beyond the football field. He was named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team three years in a row (2022–2024) and earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll eight times. His work in the community also stands out, earning him spots on the Brook Berringer and Tom Osborne Citizenship Teams.

On the field, Fidone impressed scouts at the NFL Combine. His Relative Athletic Score (RAS) was an eye-popping 9.37 out of 10, ranking him 78th among 1,216 tight ends tested since 1987.

He even considered retesting at Nebraska’s Pro Day, simply because of his competitive spirit.

A Skill Set That Fits New York’s Future Plans.

Fidone finished the 2024 season with 373 receiving yards on 36 catches, following a 2023 season where he tallied 260 yards on 25 receptions. Scouts love his ability to run crisp routes, break cleanly, and contribute both as a blocker and a receiver.

As Fidone said, “A lot of teams like that I’m a more complete tight end.”

The Giants’ tight end room, featuring Theo Johnson, Daniel Bellinger, Chris Manhertz, and Greg Dulcich, could see major changes after this season. Three are entering the final year of their contracts. This leaves Fidone with a clear path to more playing time in 2026 and beyond.

The future looks bright for this talented and hard-working young Giant.

🛍️ Rep the Team, No Matter What!

Even through the ups and downs, we bleed blue. His strong play earned him Second Team Freshman All-America honors in 2022 and three straight All-Big Ten Honorable Mentions from 2022 to 2024.

Although many expected him to be drafted earlier, Mbow found himself waiting longer than anticipated.
