This game will certainly show us what type of team the Giants are. Will this be a classic trap game or will the Giants continue to defeat opponents that they are expected to. Helping us break down this matchup is Peter Panacy, he is the co-editor of NinerNoise.com his opinion is that the Niners might squeak away with a win.

For the Niners.

If the 49ers Defense Replicates Its Week 4 Effort.
Holding quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to 17 points is no easy feat. San Francisco’s defense did a solid job of creating pressure, and a lot of that came from second-year linebacker Aaron Lynch. The 49ers’ questionable secondary did well in limiting Rodgers’ receivers as well. The coverage was pretty good all around. The Giants run a similar West Coast offense, as pointed out by safety Eric Reid on KNBR 680, so the 49ers defense should have some continuity here in its efforts to limit quarterback Eli Manning, wide receiver Odell Beckham and a dangerous New York offense.

If the 49ers Win the Battle Up Front.

San Francisco’s offensive line has been atrocious this season, and especially along the right side. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick is on pace to surpass the 52 sacks taken in 2014. New York’s run defense is No. 1 in the league, so the 49ers might not have the best shot to establish a strong running attack. But the Giants pass rush isn’t exactly stellar, so the 49ers O-line may get a little breathing room when it comes to protecting its quarterback. On the flip side, the 49ers defensive front will need to impose its will against a Giants O-line currently doing a great job of protecting Manning.

If Colin Kaepernick Can Take Advantage of New York’s Pass Defense.

The Giants are dead last in the league in total yards allowed through the air with 1,265 yards allowed. Kaepernick’s 2015 efforts have been abysmal. And the 49ers quarterback could be losing his receiver corps. But a permeable secondary, combined with a questionable Giants pass rush, presents the opportunity for Kaepernick and the aerial attack to post some big numbers. The Giants do clamp down in the red zone though, so a big X-factor will be whether or not the 49ers can find paydirt within the 20-yard line.

For the Giants
Defensive stops & improving play.
Under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, the Giants have steadily improved over the first four games. Essential to this improvement has been their focus on stopping the run. Currently the Gmen hold the No. 1 rushing defense (69.8 yards allowed per game), including some clutch goal line stances.

The Giants will look to bottle up San Francisco’s running game and prevent Colin Kaepernick from making big runs outside the pocket.

Running Back Mix.

Distributing the carries between Rashad Jennings, Shane Vereen, and Andre Williams has proven to be a good strategy. The Giants running backs have remained fresh with the split workload. Against the bills the Giants rushed for 92 yards in 28 attempts. Both Jennings and Vereen have proved pivotal in the passing attack as witnessed by Jennings 50 yard catch and run for a score last Sunday. The Giants will look to dial up both inside and outside running plays just to keep the wounded Niners defense honest.

O-Line Protecting Eli & Creating Lanes.

What was once seen as a weakness has proven many doubters wrong. The O-Line has played as a cohesive unit with multiple players pitching in. Eli Manning has dropped back 150 times this year and only saw pressure on 32 plays. Left Tackle & 1st Round pick Ereck Flowers looks ready to go for Sunday night.

Giants will search for help sealing the edge now that TE Dainel Fells was placed on the IR with an ankle infection. Fells primarily played on running downs, but the Giants expect the same effort from the remaining players to help the O-Line.

Summary
Even though the their record reflects 2-2 the Gmen have shown up to every game and play hard. Minus the two fourth quarter miscues The Giants have been in the driver seat of all their games. Let’s hope we get a loud MetLife stadium, & a big blue win.

The post Giants Vs. 49ers Preview first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

 <post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">4707</post-id>

Giants Beat Washington 32-21

Bill Mcauliffe

Deep Thoughts

New York Giants Game Recap

New York Giants News

NFL News

Takeaways from Section 123

Andre Williams

Eli Manning

Headline

Odell Beckham Jr

Rashad Jennings

Rueben Randle

Shane Vereen

Giants Beat Washington 32-21 Takeaways from section 123 1. The front seven (especially the d-line) do not get to the quarterback.

No matter the situation they lack push. Too often Cousins had 5-7 seconds to complete passes. (They performed better against the run.) The Redskins are not one of the better offenses in the NFL and they were able to make 3rd down conversions and complete long pass plays.

2. The running game continues to be in slow motion with Jennings.

He fails to get holes quickly. Regularly if you watch close he dances and stutter steps. He had one nice run but that does not make up for another poor performance overall. Vereen is a better running back period. Vereen is their best option. Andre Williams also put forth a solid effort and can tough to take down. Nice touchdown run for him in the 1st quarter.

3. Defensive backs played well.

They blocked passes, interceptions, and made numerous tackles in the open field. Which brings me back to point number one. The de- backs are making too many tackles which means the front 7 are getting pushed around and not making tackles. This is not a good trend.

4. Randle got the memo

Whether it was Parker being released, maybe a conversation with Eli during the short week or studying the playbook. Ruben Randle had a nice game. Highlighted by his touchdown late in the game to put the cherry on tonight’s victory. Gave Eli another option.

5. Eli Manning

He takes a lot of the heat when the team plays poorly. He gets a lot of the credit when they win-deservedly so. This guy was so solid it was scary. He makes the plays. Joining us once again is Cowboysblog.net. You can find them on twitter @Cowboysblognet. Let’s start!

For The Cowboys

Cowboys Offense vs Giants Defense
The Giants brought back a familiar face when they hired Steve Spagnuolo as their Defensive Coordinator, but he won’t have the menacing squad they had back when they were winning championships and contending. The Giants will undoubtedly have their hands full with the Cowboys offensive line and aerial attack led by Dez Bryant. If this was two or three seasons ago, I’d concede the Giants defense would stifle the Cowboys offense. Times have changed and the Giants defensive line is going the opposite way while the Cowboys offensive line is looking like a championship line. JPP will not be available for a few more weeks, so that helps as well. That being said, I feel good about the Cowboys ability to win most of the battles in the trenches, which in turn will open up the passing game.

Cowboys Defensive line vs Giants Offensive line
Eli Manning turned the ball over with a mixbag of INTs/fumbles and I’m not so sure they have shored up the offensive line enough to give Eli a clean pocket this season. Conversely, the Cowboys knew they needed to fix their lack of a pass rush and they have improved this significantly this offseason. The Giants won’t need to worry about Greg Hardy as he’ll be serving his 4-game suspension; however, the Cowboys have 2nd year player Demarcus Lawrence who has had a very nice camp and preseason. The addition of Randy Gregory will be another weapon for Rod Marinelli. In the middle of that d-line, the Cowboys are expecting big things from Tyrone Crawford who will be bringing it more in his contract year. I think what Giants fans will notice from the Cowboys this year will be the constant pass rush and fresh legs. The Cowboys have legitimate depth that will bring pressure on any given down this year.

Cole Beasley/Jason Witten vs Giants secondary
The Cowboys will be putting a lot of pressure on this Giants secondary with Dez Bryant commanding double teams, and Terrance Williams. Additionally, the Cowboys have Cole Beasley who has become a nuisance for defenders. Beasley should have some nice catches in this game. And let’s not forget the crafty vet Jason Witten, he is still Romo’s escape valve, and I like Witten’s match ups against the Giants linebackers and safeties.

For The Giants

It hasn’t been that bright for season openers as the Giants have dropped the past four. This year the G-men open up against Dallas in Jerry World and will play the role of the underdog. No worries this is a comfortable role for them.

Surprising Offensive Line
It seems that the carousel of movement in the Offensive Line this preseason has come to an end. First-round pick Eric Flowers will now anchor the left tackle position a little bit earlier than Giants fans expected. Even with a juggled line last season the giant still managed to score 380 points placing them in the top third of the league in scoring. Expect quick passes and dumping the ball off at times to ease the pressure.

Time of possession
A lot of doubts swirl around The Giants defense this year. One possible game plan is to slow down the game by pounding the rock. Rashad Jennings, Andre Williams and Shane Vereen will all get multiple touches in hopes to keep our defense off the field and win the time of possession. Win the time of possession and win the game.

Odell, Randle & Shane
I can guarantee that the Cowboys defense is going to focus on Odell Beckham Jr. Opportunities for Rueben Randle will pop up with all that shifted coverage. Giants fans are anxious to see how Odell starts off his second. One more 90 yard game from Odell would only add to the history of this heated rivalry.

OBJ can set NFL record on Sunday. He finished 2014 w/ 9 straight games of 90+ receiving yards, tying NFL mark set by Michael Irvin in 1995.

— Gil Brandt (@Gil_Brandt) September 11, 2015

Shane Vereen should put the Giants offense good motion with some key 3rd down saves. The Cowboys have their share of question marks to start the season, but still are favored by 6 points. It will be a tight game no matter what the point spread or end score reads.

The post Cowboys Offense vs Giants Defense first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

 <post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">4493</post-id>

Giants Release RB Peyton Hillis

Marco Ceo

In Reese We Trust

New York Giants News

NFL News

Off Season

Andre Williams

Jerry Reese

Peyton Hillis

Rashad Jennings

Giants Release RB Peyton Hillis On Wednesday the Giants announced the release…

The post Giants Release RB Peyton Hillis first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

Giants Release RB Peyton Hillis

On Wednesday the Giants announced the release of the veteran running Peyton Hillis after two seasons with the team. His career totals include 696 rushing attempts for 2,832 yards and 23 touchdowns and 134 receptions for 1,050 yards and three scores.

The Giants continue clearing out roster and cap space releasing Hillis saves New York $945,000 against the Giants salary cap for 2015.

Hillis Originally joined the Giants in October 2013 after David Wilson suffered a season-ending neck injury. It’s not how Giants fans wanted to end this season, but it happened. The Giants finished this season with a 6- 10 record. While many have been fustrated with them this season; I have hope for NY Giants next season.

It’s no secret the offense has been the biggest thorn in NYG’s side and needed some changes. The Giants got that change with a new offensive coordinate who presented the team with a whole new offensive scheme which offers a much faster pace and quicker ball release. Another change was the running game. Last season it was scarce at best, but this season we saw our runningbacks grab some yards. Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams both have over 500 rushing yards this season. This may not be the same yardage of DeMarco Murray, but I can certainly see potential and it was better than last season.

Our receivers have been dynamic, especially with the addition of rookie Odell Beckham. I don’t think i have to reiterated the superb athleticism that Beckham has shown. His amazing catches, his quickness, and his ability to make plays; has me very excited to see what he can do next season. He got eleven touchdowns this season to boot. He has uplifted the team in more ways than one can imagine, and considering he’s just a rookie: the future with him on the Giants is looking very bright. Our tight end, Larry Donnell, has made a pretty impressive impact on our team as well. In the beginning of the season, he caught six touchdowns passes*. Sadly, Ruben Randle has been quiet this season with only three touchdowns as opposed to six touchdowns last season. Ruben was benched in the previous game, and then was put in against the Eagles in which he showed us that he is worthy of a spot on this team.

The offensive line, since last season, needed the most help. Last season Eli was sacked a total of 39 times*. This left Giants fans fuming, and wondering why the offensive line was so porous. This season, Eli has been sacked 28 times which averages out to be 2 sacks a game*. This number can be a lot worst. Yet, it still needs improvement. We can’t forget about Geoff Schwartz who has made an impact this season. Unfortunately, injuries kept him off the field. Pugh seemed to be struggling, but , maybe, repostioning him on the line may help. Does this mean that the offensive line is improving? Yes, but not where it needs to be in order to be on par with other incredible, fast pace, offensives like: the Eagles, Cowboys, and Packers.

One can argue that NY Giants defense was not all what’s it’s cracked up to be either, but there were some notable players on the defense: Jason Pierre Paul with the 11 sacks, and Jonathan Hankins, Jameel McClain, and Devon Kennard, had a good year with a number of sacks*. Many can argue that JPP was not himself much in the beginning of season. Fans were waiting for him to step up and start making some plays. It was later in the season that JPP seemed to be re-energized and proved to be the menace to opposing team’s quarterbacks. However, the Giants are ranked twenty-eighth in yards allowed per game and twenty-first for points allowed each game. These stats alone could verify that even the Defense struggled this season as well. Jason Pierre- Paul will be a free agent after this season, and it remains to be seen if he stays or leaves. Can’t deny that JPP is a big ,athletic, and is pretty dangerous. The defensive line can use a player like him, a healthy JPP, to give a much needed boost in the next season.

Overall, i am optimistic for the Giants next season. At first, it was quite scary, but we have to remember that Giants had many injured players and getting to know a new offensive scheme takes time. The key is to keep the players healthy. Cruz’s devastating injury hurt the team, not only losing another talented player, but for morale. They were lucky that Beckham came back after being out for the beginning of the season and being so explosive. I see potential. I see a team, if organized, and gelled together properly, can definitely rebuild themselves. There is no telling what next season as in store for the Giants, but i am hoping for the best. I am looking forward to see a super offense and a power defense with so many weapons and talented players.

Here’s to an exciting 2015 NY GIANTS season!

Stat sources: NFL.com, ESPN.com & Sport Illustrated.com

NY Giants Positive Outlook For 2015 was written by Guest blogger Angela Whiting Please leave feedback in the comment field below, I would love to know what you think.

The post NY Giants Positive Outlook For 2015 first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

 <post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">3664</post-id>
