Former Giants safety Antrel Rolle announced his retirement today on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football.

“I’m at total peace. Like I said, go out and you’re 33 years old and you’re on injured reserve last year—that’s going to scare a lot of teams away. I understand how the business works, and I’m fine with that,” Rolle said.

During his 11-year NFL career, Rolle tallied 705 tackles, 26 interceptions, 4 sacks, 4 defensive touchdowns, and was named to the pro bowl on 3 occasions.

With The Giants very thin at safety, some Giants fans are calling for former New York Giants and free-agent Antrel Rolle to be re-signed.

Rolle was released earlier in the off-season by The Chicago Bears. After his release Rolle was very vocal about returning to the New York Giants.

Currently to fill in the safety position in practice it is a rumored that Odell Beckham Jr is playing on the defensive side of the ball.

There is truly no downside to bringing in the vet who could teach the younger players.

Former New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle is still available on the free-agent market. Talks have been quiet, since being released by The Chicago Bears in early May.

Rolle had made it clear about his wishes to return to the New York Giants, having heard from several NFL teams, no maneuvers or signings have happened thus far.

As a season draws closer, it is becoming less likely that Rolle and The Giants will have some sort of reunion.

Giants GM Jerry Reese seems to be favoring younger players at this stage, unless there is an injury early on in the season I don’t anticipate a re-signing.

Former New York Giant safety Antrel Rolle was released by the Chicago Bears on Sunday, and the saying is, Once a Giant Always a Giant!

Rolle took to the airwaves (Sirius XM NFL radio) and other press outlets making his intentions pretty clear.

“New York is where my heart is, man,” Rolle said. “I think everyone knows that. I’ve never hidden it. New York is where the heart is. New York is where I feel comfortable. New York is a place where I would love to play. You know, there’s a difference playing for an organization, you know, you’re there to play and to win, and you’re there because that’s where your contract is. And there’s a difference in playing where your heart is. I would absolutely be open to the situation if it presents itself. Obviously it would have to make sense for both [sides]. The New York Giants, I think it would definitely make sense for both myself and the team. But let’s see what happens.”

As I sit back and reflect on Coach Tom Coughlin, I remember all the one on ones in your office talking football, game plan, etc. I think back to when I was named captain and I used to try and beat you to the facility. I would get there at 6, you where there. I got there at 530 and you were there. 5 am… I knew I would beat you then.. NOPE YOU WERE THERE. I remember feeling the hood of your car and it was cold. Come to find out there were nights you slept in the office. No one worked harder, no one demanded more and I LOVE YOU for it. I chose this picture for one reason and one reason only. REALLY? I mean fucking really? After two weeks the Giants need a players only meeting?  After two weeks no one knows their assignments? After two weeks Rolle needs to call a team meeting to tell guys to play with reckless abandon and expect to win? Big Blue nation your flat stomached Buddha here is very, very concerned.

I’ve seen the message boards lately.  I’ve heard the criticism oozing out of ignorant people’s mouths.  It seems the minute you criticize this team you are no longer a fan.  You are no longer able to voice real concern for real problems without a person questioning ones Fanhood.
