Kelley played alongside Brad Van Pelt, Lawrence Taylor, and Harry Carson in the famous “Crunch Bunch” linebacker corps. This group became one of the most dominant units in NFL history. Drafted in the 14th round of the 1973 NFL Draft, Kelley was a fierce defender from California Lutheran.

Over 11 seasons, Kelley played in 143 games for the Giants. He also made a major contribution with 15 interceptions. His interception total is third among Giants linebackers, trailing only Van Pelt and Sam Huff, who each had 18.
