Two veterans released yesterday – linebacker Trent Harris and wide receiver Dante Pettis – were added. Harris is a practice squad exception and Pettis is a practice squad veteran. A team may carry up to six veterans on its practice squad.

Also signed were quarterback Brian Lewerke and running back Dexter Williams.

Free agent Brian Lewerke was added to the roster and Clayton Thorson (concussion) was waived/injured. Thorson was injured on the Giants’ final offensive play in their 12-7 preseason-opening loss to the Jets Saturday night.

The moves also makes official the Brian Lewerke signing.

The New York Giants have signed former Michigan State QB Brian Lewerke.

Undrafted free agent out of Michigan State who spent last offseason with the Patriots. Giants needed a QB with Clayton Thorson getting banged up last night.

Thorson was injured late during the preseason opener, we are awaiting further info regarding his injury status.
