Desean Jackson – Redskins – Playing his former team on the road and this guy loves playing the villain.  Tough to sit him this week.

Marquis Colston – Saints – Colston had a off game last week but will get healthy against the Vikings.

Mike Wallace – Dolphins – Looks like the old Wallace of late…the strong 2014 campaign continues.

Victor Cruz – Giants – Salsa anyone? – Cruz finds the end zone in week 3.

Fantasy Plays and Picks Against the Spread

A year ago I contacted some dude about writing for a website I wasn’t familiar with at all.  A year later, a beautiful friendship continues. I want to give a huge Bleed Big Blue shout out to the “CEO” of Bleed Big Blue, my man Marco.

As we get ready to kick-off another season, hopefully one better than what we went through last year, I wanted to take this time to say thank you.  You gave me a chance to write about the only thing, other than my little girl, that I am passionate about…and for that I can never repay you.

This opportunity to write about the franchise that we all love so much over the last year has opened new doors for me.  Seeing how what I write has inspired some and pissed off others at times makes me smile.   I write to do just that…piss you off, inspire you and make you think outside the box.  It is what I will continue to do in my own unique way and I will do my best to give you the honesty, passion and knowledge that has brought me this far.

Thank you Marco…Thank you for letting me rant and rave on your site.  Thank you for letting me write uncensored in my articles so that people can get the real and raw emotion of a fan who cares just as much as the person reading the article.  Thank you for giving me a chance.  Here is to season number #2…many more my good man. #TEAM 

Now enough of the sentimental shit, lets get to the picks against the spread and fantasy football plays for week one.

NFL PICKS WEEK ONE — New season and I am kicking it off picking every game against the spread.  Last year I went .500 on the season, but ended on a good note by predicting the dismantling of the Broncos in the Super Bowl.  What am I thinking this week?  UNDER!!  16 games and I picked the “under” in 12…why?

Week one is tough, 1st teamers haven’t played a full game yet and usually, earlier in the season the defense has the advantage….I’m rolling with it.

QB – JAY CUTLER – BEARS – Cutler goes HAM in week one at home against the Bills.  Anyone you have on Chicago, play em.

QB – JAKE LOCKER – TITANS – This kid might be putting it all together and he has some weapons.  Love him against the Chiefs.

QB – TOM BRADY – PATRIOTS – If last year was a down year for Brady, which is bullshit, he will totally redeem himself this season.  Brady last year had 6 WR’s tackled on the 1 yard line after completions (Tied for most in the NFL with Matt Stafford) and had 40+ passes straight up dropped on him.  The man they call Handsome can be in store for an MVP type season.

RB – MARK INGRAM – SAINTS – I’m buying the hype.  Ingram has passed the “eye” test all preseason long. Looks like the light finally went on for him.  The fact that it’s a contract year don’t hurt either.

RB – FRANK GORE – 49ERS – Whoever plays that Dallas D you start.  Period, end of sentence.

RB – ZAC STACY – RAMS – Bradford is out and Stacy is at home against suspect Vikings D.  Stacy showed enough last year to be pugged into your lineups no questions asked.

WR – CORDARELLE PATERSON – VIKINGS – See what Norv Turner did for Josh Gordon last year?  Now watch this kid.

WR – ALSHON JEFFREY – BEARS – See Jay Cutler

WR – CODY LATIMER – BRONCOS – Impressed everyone during camp and was in line to get snaps before Welker got all “Molly’d” up.  Beat your buddies to the waiver wire for this kid now.

WR – BRANDON LAFELL –  PATRIOTS – Brady loves him and from reports, Lafell could line up all over the place in this offense.  Play him! You’re welcome.

WR – SANTONIO HOLMES – BEARS – Yep, Santonio is on the Bears…and he will be wide up open with defenses trying to stop Forte, Marshall and Jeffrey.

TE – ZACH ERTZ – EAGLES –  I am the leader of the Zach Ertz band wagon, remember you heard it here first.  Kid has an All-Pro season.

TE – GREG OLSON – PANTHERS -Olson should find room against the new Tampa 2 defensive being used by Lovie Smith in Tampa.

TE  – KYLE RUDOLPH – VIKINGS – Norv Turner did wonders for Novacek, Gates, Jordan Cameron and now Rudolph.

FOOTBALL IS BACK!!! … THANK THE LORD OUR GOD

Hello Bleed Big Bluers and welcome the 1st annual Trifecta Awards. I got lucky at the track years ago and hit three Trifecta’s in a row…the nickname stuck, and calling the awards “The Trifecta’s“, sounds a lot cooler than calling them the “The Jimmies“…moving on. Before the last set of fantasy plays and picks vs. the spread, I’m giving out my season awards…”The Trifecta’s”.

This was initially supposed to be all about the Giants…but quite honestly, when I think about this season, no one on the Giants should get an award, a Pro Bowl spot, nothing. The only thing the Giants should be told is very similar to what Billy Madison is told after comparing the Industrial Revolution to the children’s book “The Puppy That Lost His Way”.

“”New York Giants, this season you have made us endure is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever witnessed. At no point in your pathetic, embarrassing attempt at winning football games were you even close to anything that could be considered a cohesive unit, instead you resembled a bad high school football team. Everyone in this fan base is now dumber for having watched this. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

AP MVP — Jamaal Charles – Running Back – Kansas City Chiefs —- Say what you want about Peyton Manning and the records he broke this season. My vote goes to Charles. I never really appreciated how good he really was until I had to keep track of him every week due drafting him in fantasy this year, but this dude is a beast. A weapon in both the running and passing game, Charles is the epitome of a every down back, and playing in a limited offense where he is the main option makes this season for Charles even more impressive. Let’s just take a look at the raw numbers….

Touches — 329 (259 carries, 70 receptions)

Yards from scrimmage — 1980 yards (1,287 rushing, 693 receiving)

Touchdown — 19 (12 rushing, 7 receiving)

Now take into consideration who else Kansas City has on their offense. The Trifecta goes to Jamaal Charles.. and now the best of the rest…

FANTASY PLAYS — CHAMPIONSHIP OF BUST —

ONE OF THE BEST PARTS ABOUT FANTASY FOOTBALL IS WHEN YOU MAKE IT TO TITLE GAME AND ONE OF YOUR “BEST GOOD FRIENDS” IS STANDING THEIR TO GREET YOU — SUCH IS MY SITUATION THIS SUNDAY — MY COUSIN, WHO MIGHT AS WELL BE MY BROTHER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER IS MY ENEMY FOR THE DAY. MY TEAM IS KA-KAAAAW, HIS TEAM IS LETS MAKE LEMONADE …. HERE IS WHO WE GO TO WAR WITH!!….WHO YA GOT???

With the Giants eliminated from the playoffs I had a hard time coming up with topics for this week. The big bad Seahawks are coming to town for a Super Bowl walk thru, and all the papers and sports talk I hear about is how the Giants are saying they better show up this weekend or the Seahawks will embarrass them.

Really?…I mean really?… Should we not be embarrassed already?

“The last thing you want to be is embarrassed,” Tuck said Wednesday. “This is a team if you’re not ready to play, they will embarrass you – and laugh about it. That’s point blank. I ain’t in the business of being embarrassed….I’m in the business of going out there and putting on a great show for our fans and helping us win football games.”

Hey Justin…FYI…this whole season has been an embarrassment.

The Giants shouldn’t be worried about being embarrassed on Sunday, they should be taking notes. The Seahawks play the game as it should be played…hard. They do not take weeks off. They do not lose games they should win. They intimidate, they run the ball, they don’t turn the ball over, they protect their quarterback. Their defenders swarm to ball, they create turnovers. They don’t make excuses. They don’t put the cart before the horse. They show up and play hard every week, and they win games by punishing teams for 60 minutes.

They have the eye of the tiger…the Seahawks are hungry, and after a tough hard-fought loss to a bitter rival they will show up at MetLife Stadium pissed off.

That used to be our Giants…now they are a shell of themselves. That game last week in San Diego, was that even football? I get that losing the Cowboys game took a lot out of them, but who’s fault is it that they were in that position in the first place? Who started 0-6? The Giants need to look themselves in the mirror. This is not Giants football, I’m not even sure this is football at all.

Jerry Reese last week after the loss to the Chargers discreetly removed the countdown to the Super Bowl clock. He should have left it there. These Giants don’t need to be coddled, they need to be put in time out. Enough with the “kid gloves”. Let them watch the days count down until another team celebrates in their stadium. Let them live with it like we do.

The Giants are worried about being embarrassed on Sunday, and we as Giants fans have been embarrassed all year. Part of me hopes that they lose out…we can use the higher picks. But there is some part of me that hopes not only do they lose, but that they do get embarrassed. And I pray that Mr. Mara and Jerry Reese watch every second so they are forced to realize that a decade has been enough, and it is time to start fresh, a clean slate.

These players have obviously loss touch with reality. Coach Coughlin brought in a Cancer survivor last week to help motivate the team, and then they show up in San Diego and play like punks. Voices in that locker are not motivating and carrying the same weight as they once did, and with players talking about getting embarrassed now after what we’ve seen for 14 weeks, you have to wonder just how out of touch with what this season has been like for Giants nation these players are…

We’ve been embarrassed, confused and disappointed all season long no matter what happens on Sunday. Happy Holidays Giants… thanks for nothing. Get affordable ticket rates here.

Kirk Cousins – Redskins – If you own Aaron Rodgers or say RGKnee this is a pick up you should have made days ago. Not only will Cousins be playing for the final three weeks, but you have to think Shanahan will do everything in his power to put Cousins in a position to make Dan Snyder and RGKnee look foolish. Cousins is must own if you’re in a QB pickle.

Cam Newton – Panthers – Goes off verse the Jets…It’s science.

***Toby Gerhart*** – Vikings — If you own Adrian Peterson hopefully you were smart enough to handcuff him with Toby. If you don’t own AP, hopefully you were able to get him off waivers before the guy who owns AP. Gerhart has a tweaked hammy, but you have to figure if AP don’t play Gerhart will. If that is the case, all Toby does when given a chance to play is produce. He’s at home and has a favorable match-up against the Eagles…if he plays, and AP doesnt…Gerhart is a must start.

OTHER RB’S I LIKE — DeMarco Murray – Cowboys — Pierre Thomas – Saints — Mike Tolbert – Panthers

Hey Bleed Big Bluers.  I hope you all had a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving, and didn’t kill anyone on Black Friday…only in this country on the day after giving thanks for things that mean so much to us do we go out and pummel people for an X-Box.  America the Beautiful indeed.

Before we get to the fantasy plays to help in your fantasy playoffs and the picks against the spread this week, I would like to answer a question from a Twitter follower.

I got a tweet the other day from NY BROWNBOMBER @Lar09NY  He tweeted..

“@Trifecta24 can we get a written piece on Eli the turnover machine this season.”

Well @Lar09NY, first off thank you for the question.  I really do appreciate the fact the you are enjoying my posts and actually care about what I think on the matter.

I addressed this matter back in week 6 after the loss to the Bears.  Eli had 15 picks at the time.  I broke it down like this dude…

15 INTERCEPTIONS—LETS TAKE A CLOSER LOOK –

MINUS 2 –  2 OF THOSE PICKS ARE OFF TERRIBLE BAD LUCK BOUNCES (DALLAS-OFF SCOTTS ARM – DENVER-OFF DUDES FOOT)

MINUS 6 – GO BACK AND WATCH THE FILM. 6 OF THE 15  INTERCEPTIONS ARE DUE TO WR’S (NICKS 1 TIME AND RANDLE 5 TIMES) RUNNING THE WRONG ROUTE.

MINUS 1 – CRUZ GET THE BALL PUT IN HIS HANDS AND THE BALL IS RIPPED AWAY FROM HIM. (Eagles game)  HOW IS THAT MANNINGS FAULT?

MINUS 1 –NICKS STOPS RUNINNG ON A SLANT ROUTE AND THE CORNERBACK PICKS IT OFF…

 THAT LEAVES 5 INTERCEPTIONS THAT ARE MANNINGS FAULT…INCLUDING THE ONE AT THE END OF THE BEARS GAME.

Is that the whole story?  No.  Eli hasn’t played well at all this season.  Rule 76 – No Excuses Play Like a Champion.

But I do have a hard time putting all the blame squarely on his shrugging shoulders.  Along with the bad routes, bad bounces and miscommunications, the most telling stat when talking about Eli Manning is this one…

Eli has been sacke 31 times with 4 games left.  His career high prior to this year for a full season is 30.  Let that sink in.

This entire team has been a clusterfuck this season NYBROWNBOMBER.  I am not giving Eli a pass, I think his play this year at times has left much to be desired.  But I do not think he is alone, and a QB who thinks he is going to get smashed on every throw can not be successful on any team.  The Giants have underperformed as an entire offense.  The line, the backs, the receivers and Eli.  I don’t think you can blame all the turnovers on him at all.  That being said it would be nice to see Eli grab someone by the facemask after running the wrong route, but other than that, Eli is Eli.  If the Giants make the right moves this off season I see Eli as being a strength for this franchise for the better part of another decade.  IN REESE WE TRUST.

And most of all….I am thankful for December 2nd, 2003. The day my daughter Adriana was born. She turns 10 tomorrow. Where does the time go? Seems like the last decade has gone by so fast…not only for Coughlin, Eli and our Giants….but for a beautiful, smart and incredibly funny young lady. I have watched her grow in awe over the last ten years and still find myself staring at her in wonder at times. She is the one gift I have received that makes me think I did something right in my lifetime, and she enriches my life every single day more than she will ever realize. Deep Big Blue Thoughts Week 11

I do not believe he could do this to me. He calls himself my friend. I’m calling bullshit.

In my fantasy league this week I am playing for first place…the #1 seed is on the line. I’m in a bit of a bye week pickle but I got enough to get by hopefully. It is my buddy Wilsons team, Columbus Gold (8-3) vs. My team Ka-Kaaaaw (8-3).

Now I have to say…I love fantasy football. Not just because of my passion for the game itself, but because fantasy football brings us together as friends. In a way.

A lot of my friends in the league have kids now, families. Some are still partying like its 1999. Some are down south, some are up north. One thing brings us together every year, fantasy football. It gets hard to keep up during the course of the year. People are busy with their lives. However once July rolls around and my phone starts ringing, the laughs and the unruly behavior last until the New Year. We take great pleasure in not only beating each other, but making fun of each other along the way. And the only thing better than beating your friends, is making fun of them along the way. Fantasy football is a beautiful thing. If you think the Richie Icognito texts were bad you should see our message board…but it is all out of love.

There are no rules in fantasy football, so I can not be upset by the dirty trick that was played on me this week…but it has put me between a rock and a hard place.

“How can Wilson do this to me? He has turned me against my fantasy team.”

Wilson is dealing with a broken Aaron Rodgers. He had Big Ben go off last week and now…this week, he drops him.

For who? For Eli!!!!

My world is spinning…OH THE HUMANITY of it all.

So this Sunday, I will turn off my computer…turn off my phone and think back to time when there was no fantasy, just reality. When your team was the Giants, Cowboys, Raiders, Steelers or Patriots. The actual teams. Not Ka-Kaaaaaw, Columbus Gold, Lets Make Lemonade, 700 Suits, Slow Potion or Boobs (All team names in my league..lol).

This Sunday Bleed Big Bluers is about the Giants. Period, end of sentence. I will do my best to forget about fantasy implications or matchups, and let the chips for where they may.

I quite honestly have never wanted a QB to go off against my fantasy team so bad…I just hope the rest of Wilson’s team tears their ACL’s….

Hey Big Bluers, with our G-Men on a bye this week and amazingly right back in the thick of things in the NFC Least I’m starting to get the feeling that this season may have an exciting ending. I’m not suggesting we are Super Bowl bound, I’m just saying if we can find a way to take the next 3 games at home and get to 5-6, the games in December might have heart-attack written all over them.

I find myself fighting with…uuhhh myself, over the rest of this season? One minute I have hope, and the next I see climbing the huge mountain before us as too daunting a task. I tell myself

I am having “DeBLUEsions of Grandeur”….which is oddly enough, the title of my next article coming to get you ready for the 2^nd half of a so far disappointing season.

DeBLUEsions will take you inside the mind of a bi-polar Giants fan that is torn between hope and reality, and it should be hilarious. Look for it next week as we get ready for the DA RAIDERS.

Christian Ponder that one for a sec…buying stock and investing in players careers, both on and off the field.

I would have taken a bath on David Wilson, Jeremy Shockey and Jason Sehorn to name a few…

This would literally be a game changer. Being able to own a piece of an athlete. To quote Kanye, “that shit cray”.

But for as much potential as this phenomenal idea by Fantex Brokerage Services holds, it raises a troubling question.

First let me say that I am all for this. I have already started to put away a little “play fund” for a year or so once this thing catches some steam and gets off the ground. As of right now Arian Foster is the only player participating, and his stock isn’t to promising in my eyes. So watching how this progresses from the bottom could be interesting depending on which players choose to participate.

But is this a very dangerous idea/game to play as well?

Fuck yeah it is!

Why?

Weren’t Brandon Jacobs and his family just subject to death threats over a Fantasy Football game?

What if fantasy becomes reality?…Dangerous?

If people are threatening athletes based on the outcome of money/bragging right leagues with some friends, imagine the heights some people may take it to when real substantial money is on the line?

FANTASY PICKS OF THE WEEK – Gonna do it a little different this week cause it’s a Giants bye week and I’m feeling rather sassy. Instead of one player and some reasoning behind the pick, I’m going to give you a handful of players at each position…Leggo!!!!

QBs:

Phillip Rivers — SD Super Chargers – Redskins are just bad on defense. Rivers is completing 73% of his passes on the year.

Tony Romo – Cowboys — Big game coming for Tony, as in fear of being bitch slapped by Dez he throws to him early and often. The Minnesota secondary is in trouble.

Terrelle Pryor – Daaa Raiders – Not only does he make plays with his feet, he will make a play or two through the air on the Iggles.

RBs:

Zak Stacy –Rams — I’m buying his jersey, 134 yards last week. Love the way the 5^th round pick from Vanderbilt runs. Stacy is averaging 2.1 yards after contact per rush and the Titans are allowing a league worse 1.8 yards after contact to opposing RBs. It’s science.

Ryan Matthews – Danny Woodhead — SD Super Chargers – Playing the Redskins means you get them in your lineup.

Darren Mcfadden – Raiders — I think Mcfadden goes off against Philly. I actually inquired about trading for him in my league, could be in for a big 2^nd half of the year.

Adrian Peterson — Vikings — Don’t worry AP owners, this is the week you get your beast back. It could be one of those games against Dallas when AP keeps the Vikings in the game by himself.

WRs:

ALL SAN DIEGO SUPER CHARGERS WRs – Last week I said all Saints WRs and was actually right. This week I got a feeling about the three amigos of Allen, Brown and Royal.

ALL SAINTS WRs – With Cromartie expected to cover Jimmy Graham, like Talib did in New England, the Saints WRs could have a field day against the Jets less then stellar secondary.

Josh Gordon – Browns – Or as I call him, Flash Gordon, cause that how quick he can score. Need a 20+ yard TD?…Gordon is your guy… and if you need a D that gives up 20+ yard TDs the Ravens are your team.

Not a bad fantasy week last week and I went 4-2 with my picks against the spread…but before we get to the fun stuff, lets talk Big Blue business.

So because I am a crazy person, before the Giants play their games,  instead of watching the pregame show on TV, I like to listen to the Giants pregame show on WFAN radio.  It’s more Giants focused than the national shows are and I want as much information about our boys in blue as I can get before kick-off.  I heard something before the Vikings game on Monday night that made me the Big Blue wheels in my head start to spin.

Johnathan Hankins is a healthy scratch and will be inactive…

Now that may not seem as a life or death roster decision, but in the coming weeks this type of decisions can cost us in the long run.

How James?

Here’s how.  Let’s say the Giants lose against the Eagles on Sunday, I believe Jerry Reese and Tom Coughlin have some decisions to make in reference to the roster and who should be playing on Sundays.  At 1-7 the Giants would need to take the bye week and seriously consider looking at the players who are going to be here for a lot longer than just the rest of this season.

At 1-7 you could pretty much write off any chance of the play-offs, hell even at 2-6 it’s far fetched.  Until there is a winning streak to discuss, lets take the worst case scenario.  Let’s say we are out of it.  It is better that the Giants are playing Mike Patterson and Shaun Rogers as opposed to Johnathan Hankins?

I think the Giants have to look at the younger players on this roster to know what they have and what they need going into next season.

If the Giants aren’t going to be players in the NFC LEast come November and December it makes perfect sense for the Jerry Reese to tell Tom Coughlin it’s time to play the New Kids in the Big Blue Hall.  Here are the players I look for the Giants to get some valuable playing time to in the 2nd half of the season, assuming of course they are healthy.

1. Johnathan Hankins – DT —   The rookie 2nd round pick was active a couple a weeks ago against the Eagles and performed very well.  5 tackles with one of them being for a loss in limited playing.  He seemed to be in the backfield getting penetration all day long.  Hankins has looked promising in limited time and has a lot more potential with the Giants long term then say Shaun Rogers, Mike Patterson and Cullen Jenkins.  Seeing if he has the ability to step into a starting role next season is a must.

 2. Adrien Robinson TE —  The promising 2nd year TE has been slowed by injuries this season.  It’s time for him to get healthy fast.  The Brandon Myers experiment has not been a success at all through 7 games and this is a position that has been key for Eli in the past.  It would be nice to know before next year what we have in the 6’4 264 lb freak who runs a 4.4 40-yard dash.  If Robinson can get healthy and show some flashes in the 2nd half of the year, we may not have to draft another TE or spend big on a free agent next season.

 3. Damontre Moore – DE — I love Justin Tuck and Kiwi as much as the next guy, but the athletic ability Moore has shines through whenever he steps on the field.  He has shown the ability to be a play maker on special teams and in his limited time at defensive end.  He has been slowed by a shoulder injury this season so far, but he’s been active a couple a weeks in a row now.  The Giants need to know if they found Tucks replacement next season in the 3rd round pick with 1st round talent, and making the tough decision to limit Tick and Kiwi for Da”Monster” might be a necessary evil.

4. Cooper Taylor – S — Trumaine McBride – CB — Jayron Hosley – CB — I’m going to throw all three of these guys in together.  The Giants need help in the secondary after this season and these 3 players are going to provide some answers to how Jerry Reese adds to this roster next year.  With Stevie Brown coming back and Corey Webster and Aaron Ross sure to be gone, this secondary is due for a make over.  At the corner position there is something about Trumaine McBride that I like, he seems like he isn’t intimidated on the field and has a fighters mentality.  Same for Hosley, the undersized yet feisty 2nd year corner from Virginia Tech shows flashes when he plays and looks like he can be a viable option for the slot corner role if he can stay on the field.  Cooper Taylor is another young guy who can not stay on the field.  The gifted 6’4 228 lb Safety who runs a 4.4 forty needs to show us something down the stretch this year.  The 23 year old started his college career at Georgia Tech before transferring and graduating from Richmond, so he has the smarts to pick up the playbook, and once healthy should contribute.  The opportunity for all three of these players are there to be taken advantage of. The Giants have to get them on the field and keep them there so we can get a enough of a look to see if we can  feel comfortable with them going in to next year.

5. Ryan Nassib – QB —  ***I AM NOT SAYING ELI SHOULD BE BENCHED AT ALL***  Far from it. I am saying this and only this.  The Giants have a lot of wholes to fill going into next season and QB is the one position they know they do not have to worry about.  If the Giants are losing big in any game during the 2nd half of the year, or God forbid, if the Giants are up big for once, the Giants should get Nassib in the game.  If Nassib can put some good things on tape against a 1st team defense in the regular season, even if it is garbage time, it might be enough for some team to offer you something in return for Nassib next season.  I don’t think this will happen at all, but it is food for thought.  Look at the trades around the leagues for quarterbacks over the last couple of seasons.  Teams have traded for Kevin Kolb, Matt Flynn and even Tim Tebow, if the Giants can get Nassib up to speed and get him on the field in good or bad mop up duty maybe some team takes the bait.  It never hurts to listen because when you are rebuilding, draft picks are gold.

FANTASY PLAYS FOR WEEK 8 – DIG IT –

QB – RGKNEE – Redskins — He has piled up 161 yards rushing on 20 rushing attempts over the last 2 weeks after averaging 18 yards on 4.5 attempts per game over the first 4.  That plus the Washington defense can not stop anyone.  With RGKnee constantly playing from behind he should rack up enough passing yards to make him a killer option to use this week with a shootout looming in Denver.

 RB – Le’veon Bell – Steelers — The kid runs hard and downhill.  If you take the fact the Steelers have no one else to run the ball and couple that with the match up against the Raiders and Bell becomes attractive option this week.   Gotta figure he runs for at least 80 yards and a score this week.

 RB—Knowshon Moreno – Broncos – Moreno continues to shine this season pounding ou yardage and consistently finding the end zone this year.  Ronnie Hillman is on the verge of becoming a non-factor due to his fumbling woes, and Montee Ball has done nothing to make himself stand out to the Broncos coaching staff.  The fruits of this juicy matchup against the Redskins are all Morenos.

 WR – Terrence Williams – Cowboys – He is coming off a monster game of 151 yards receiving and a TD.  All the talk this week has been about Dez vs. Megatron, but with the scoreboard sure to be lit up in Detroit, the rookie big play threat from Baylor should get targeted plenty.  This is total bullshit because I am playing him this weekend.  DAMN YOU DEAR BROTHER FOR YOUR TREMENDOUS WAIVER WIRE PICK UP!!!

 WR – ALL SAINTS WRs – Saints – Buffalo is giving up the 2^nd most fantasy points to opposing wide-outs.  If you have Colston, Kenny Stills or even if you can pick up Lance Moore who is available in a lot of leagues, with a lot of fantasy owners in bye week hell you can do a lot worse than these 3.  Oh, and Jimmy Graham is a game time decision and Drew Brees is averaging 370 yards thru the air at home this year.

 TE – Jordan Reed – Redskins – His targets and production keep going up.  Reed is now locked into the old Shannon Sharpe role in the Shanahan offense. He will be the 2^nd option in the passing game behind Pierre Garcon the rest of the way.  Denver gives up a ton of points to opposing fantasy TE’s….just saying.

PICKS OF THE WEEK – Redeemed myself following my worst week of picks in WK 6, going 4-2 in week 7. Let’s see if I can stay hot….

RECORD FOR THE SEASON – 17-15-2 – Going with the less is more theme again this week.  Didn’t like a lot of the spreads and if you don’t like it you don’t bet it.

LIONS -3 over the Cowboys — Okay, this is the game I love this week.  No logic or trends to support my madness. Lions are physical in the trenches and I think they will beat up the Cowboys during the course of 4 quarters.  Cowboys D should have fits with Bush more then Megatron as the Cowboys give up the 2^nd most receiving yards to opposing running backs.

 SAINTS -10.5 over the Bills – Saints area a juggernaut at home and are coming off a loss and a bye week.  Expect the Saints to move the ball at will through the air and for Rob Ryan’s defense to give fits to a Thad Lewis and the Bills offense.

REDSKINS +14 over the Broncos — I do not think the Redskins win this game at all. However, when you take into account the improved play from RGKnee, the emergence of Jordan Reed, the Broncos defense and what should be an emotional return home for Mike Shanahan. I’m going take the 14 points and figure this one comes down who has the ball last.

Hello Bleed Big Bluers… Hope all is well as we move towards week 7 in the NFL.

Before we get to my weekly fantasy plays and picks of the week against the spread for week 7,  I’d like to share some Deep Thoughts on a vice that I am sure most of us indulge in;  fantasy football.

I have been playing for over a decade now.  Whether it is a money league, free league, a league with strangers or a league with friends, there is one thing that is sure to be debated in all leagues, TRADES.

No matter what you’re opinion on this touchy subject is I would like to offer you my unique stand point on this matter.  Please apply common sense.

Fantasy owners throughout the land…I give you…

THE TRADE CONUNDRUM — TO VETO OR NOT TO VETO

1.  Any team eliminated from playoff contention should be “locked” out and not allowed to make any more moves, period.  Trades…adds…drops…nothing.

2.  Every team owner should be allowed to make any move said owner desires.

I equate a man who “vetos” a trade in fantasy football to the ugly friend at the bar.

She plays hard to get at first but finally admits she wants to come home with you…and then it happens.

The ugly freind that no one wants to go home with at all.  Not even your wingman can help you.

She annoyingly says something like, “Uh, sorry but she’s coming home with us.  We all came together and we promised that we would all leave together.  Sorry, call her tomorrow.”

What?…This was a done deal. I put in time, effort and bought 5 drinks for this chic.  WTF?

See what I mean.  Trade blockers and cock blockers… one in the same.

Two team owners see each others rosters from across a crowded room.  There is an instant connection…You want his players…he wants yours.  Electricity fills the air.

You negotiate for a week and finally come to an agreement you both are happy with.

You consummate the trade.  It was as good for him as it was for you.

And then some dude comes out of nowhere and says NO… he hits the “veto” button.

See the similiarities?

Run your team.  Not everyone’s elses.  If you are aggressive and love to make trades, awesome, that is your strategy.  If you are not aggressive in making trades that is fine to.  That is how you run your team.  It’s your perogative, but don’t be hating on others for having the balls to pull the trigger on a trade.  Trade envy is ugly.

Also, in reference to the infamous “trade rape”… This is also a scenario where all you can do is shake your head at the player who was hoodwinked.  This again is none of your concern.  The art of negotiation, bluffing, putting out misinformation, asking for a player who you have no chance of acquiring only to settle on the player you really wanted, these are skills.  And these skills should be encouraged in all leagues.

Dont hate the players…hate the game.  The goal of fantasy football is to humiliate and embarrass your friends so you can brag all off season long, and to win.  No holds barred.

When it comes down to it these players are like stocks and the fantasy football world is our stock market.  Buying low and selling high is an art, and just as in real life, some do it better than others.

FANTASY PLAYS OF THE WEEK — last week I researched a lot and my fantasy picks and picks of the week sucked.  I can admit it.  So this week, all gut calls.  Lets Go!!

QB – Nick Foles – Eagles — Foles has played great for 2 weeks and there is no reason to think that will change with a banged up Cowboys team limping into Philly on Sunday.  I look for a big game for the Eagles QB….300+ yards and 2 TDs.

RB – Giovanni Bernard — Bengals — His touches have increased every week and he had 21 touches in week 6.  Benard is a must start this week and should be primed for a huge 2nd half.

RB – Eddie Lacy — Packers — Kid is a beast and with Randall Cobb and James Jones banged up, you can look for Lacy to get fed early and often.  Especially with Joe Haden shadowing Jordy Nelson all day.

WR – Keenan Allen — Chargers —  Allen is playing lights out and should have a lot of chances to make plays against the Jaguars.  Phillip Rivers should light up Jacksonville yardage wise and that means big games for Allen and Vincent Brown as well.

WR — Kenbrell Thompkins — Patriots — GRONK SMASH is back and having him in the game should open things up considerably for the younger Pats wide outs.  Thompkins is getting plenty of targets as is and has shown the ability to make plays.  Gronk coming back makes this kid a must start.

TE – Kyle Rudolph — Vikings — Best game of the year last week and he is playing the Giants.  Nuff said.  But here is one more thing, Josh Freeman is now starting for the Vikings and until he gets used to these wide outs I look for Rudolph to get involved in the reindeer games a lot.

PICKS OF THE WEEK — 1-3 LAST WEEK — DISGUSTING.  1st week I went under .500 so it’s time to redeem myself –all gut picks here…no rhyme or reason.

RECORD AGAINST THE SPREAD — 13-13-2

Chiefs -6.5 over the Texans —  Chiefs D verse a rookie QB in Kansas City.  Let it ride.

Redskins and Bears OVER 50 — Usually don’t take Over/Unders on here but love this one.  Bears are banged up on D and Skins straight suck on D.  Lots of points here.

Colts +6.5 over the Broncos — I know Peyton is coming home and he is pissed but I just got a feeling this is gonna be closer than people think.  Luck is coming off a poor week against San Diego and the Super Chargers and I think he will be just as fired up as Peyton.  Should be a great game.

Panthers -6 over the Rams — Panthers D is no joke and should have little trouble against Sam Bradford and the Rams pedestrian offense.  Love Cam this week as well.

Eagles -1 over the Cowboys — Philly will be rocking and Cowboys without Murray and Ware may be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

UPSET OF THE WEEK —

GIANTS -3 over the Vikings — They have to win this week right?  Boomer and Carton are sacrificing a pig to the lift the malocchio (pronounced “maloik”) off our beloved Big Blue.  If this doens’t work I don’t know what will.
