The Rumor received some validation from NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. The belief is that The Redskins like Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa, enough to move on from Dwayne Haskins.

It still seems out of reach for the New York Football Giants to land Young, as Detroit would love it if he fell to them with the 3rd pick in the draft.

“If you’re going to make a trade and you’re going to go back, that guy you’re going to take at that spot has to be able to make the kind of impact you need to validate missing an opportunity to take a player that’s a high-impact guy,” Rivera said, via NBC Sports Washington.

“In other words, if you’re going to pass up Player A and you go back and you’re going to take Player D, Player D has to be equal to Player A because if Player A is going to play for you for 10 years and Player D may not, then did you really get value or did you just get a whole bunch of picks? You’ve got to be able to sit there and say that the next guy that I’m going to take is going to be that high-impact guy, and that’s what I’m looking for. That’s what I believe we need is we need a guy that’s going to come in and really change our football team. To me, there’s a few guys on that board that are those kind of players.”

In connection with this rumor is another rumor that the Giants have contacted the Arizona Cardinals in order to trade up in order to get Dwayne Haskins (Who the Giants are “in love with”). Unfortunately, there is very little sustenance to either of these rumors. If this is indeed fact, what would that mean for us? Let’s consider a few possible options in this draft scenario. 1. We forfeit our 1^st round pick next season 2. We give up a key player

Let’s consider that first scenario. This upcoming draft class has already been called “quarterback lean”. Many of the scouting pros have already said that none of the quarterbacks that have declared for the draft thus far are day one starters. Many of those same scouts and analysts are predicting next year to be a much stronger draft class. Do we risk a pick on potential talent and forfeit an opportunity next year?

Now let’s look at that second scenario; giving up a key player, or first round talent. The two names that immediately pop into my head are Landon Collins and Odell Beckham Jr. Both are key players on each side of the ball and have established themselves as stars on the Giants. Again, can we afford to risk such talent for potential?

In my opinion, we have time. Eli is by no means what he was but he did get in stride near the end of the season. I believe we need to see what’s available at the 6^th pick. If a 1^st round caliber quarterback is available, then take him. If not, we have other holes throughout the team that need to be plugged. Our offensive line needs to be fixed up. We were able to get Nate Solder in free agency but it doesn’t seem as though it was the fix that we absolutely needed. Eli manning was still sacked 47 times, 6^th most in the NFL this season. Our pass rush is also an area that we need to further develop.

It’s rumored the New York Giants are in love with Dwayne Haskins, so much so that the have contacted the Arizona Cardinals looking to trade up. Now I’ve done a deep search to see if I can track this rumor down and it seems like it’s only stuck in the Instagram atmosphere.

There is a lot of hype and anxiety with Haskins, Murray, Eli, taking defensive player, taking an O-Lineman, or trading back. These are all rumors that people are putting out. They have the best intentions for the Giants, they want to see them succeed and win. 

This particular rumor doesn’t hold any weight, but let’s play out the scenario. I definitely think that there are teams out there willing to trade up for a quarter back. For the Giants to trade up for the number one pick it’s going to be costly.

They would have to give up their number six pick up this year And most likely Arizona would want a our number one pick next year. I think that’s too much.

If we can work out something where we keep next year’s 1st round pick them it’s a possibility for me.

If not and I hate to say it we should wait until 2020, But saying this is crazy risky because you never know who’s going to be available what quarterbacks would be coming out where we would be in the draft and hopefully we don’t have another crappy year like this year a lot of things would come into play.
