The 2024 NFL season is approaching, and Giants fans are building excitement. Training camp will kick off on July 24th for the veteran players. Let’s take a look at the Giants’ quarterback room as the team heads into training camp.

Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones is the Giants’ starting quarterback for the 2024 NFL season. He’s coming back from a torn ACL and will work with a group of talented young receivers and a new offensive line. This season is crucial for Jones to secure his spot as the Giants franchise quarterback.

If he underperforms or gets injured again, the Giants can move on from him with little financial trouble.

Jones should be ready for training camp and must quickly get used to his new teammates. This will be his third camp under head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, so he should be familiar with the offense by now.

Drew Lock

The Giants signed Drew Lock to a one-year, $5 million deal this March. Some experts criticized the move, while others think Lock could be a good long-term backup. Lock saw college success at Missouri, where he was a two-time All-SEC player and led the nation in touchdown passes in 2017. The Giants are hopeful this will translate into the NFL.

Lock’s pro career started slowly with Denver, and he was traded to Seattle in the Russell Wilson deal. Geno Smith’s success with the Seahawks kept Lock on the sidelines. Lock has starting experience, and under the Giants’ coaching staff, he could reach his potential if Jones gets injured or doesn’t perform well.

Tommy DeVito

The undrafted rookie free agent won three straight starts last year, capturing the attention of the fanbase. He played with heart and pride. There were flashes where he excelled, but also struggles.

Given the injury troubles last season, I could see the Giants carrying three QBs on the roster. Most likely, he won’t be named to the final 53-man roster and will start the season on the practice squad.

Nathan Rourke

The Giants claimed Nathan Rourke from the New England Patriots, with injuries to Jones there was a need for quarterbacks heading into training camp.

Rourke, spent some time with the New England Patriots, and Jacksonville Jaguars practice squads. Born in Victoria, British Columbia, and raised in Oakville, Ontario, the 6-foot-1, 210-pound Rourke previously played two seasons in the Canadian Football League with the BC Lions.

Rourke is a long shot for the main roster, but a practice squad placement is a possibility.
