Will the Giants make the Isaiah Wilson signing official today? Rumors have the former 1st round draft pick as the latest addition to the practice squad.

The Giants plan to sign Wilson to their practice squad after the former University of Georgia standout offensive lineman was part of their free agent workout Tuesday, two individuals with knowledge of the situation told NorthJersey.com and USA TODAY Network.

The individuals were granted anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation and they are not authorized to speak publicly prior to the Giants’ officially announcing the deal.

The Giants have lost 2 starters to season ending injuries, any additional help would be beneficial, but this seems to be a low risk, high reward type of deal for the tackle.

The Titans selected Wilson with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, but a myriad of issues — two stints on the reserve/COVID-19 list, a team suspension, and off-field concerns — marred his rookie campaign. Wilson famously played just three offensive snaps in one appearance with the Titans.

New York Giants’ Captain Nick Gates Suffered a possible career threatening leg injury and remains hospitalized as of yesterday afternoon.

“I’d be lying, if from my perspective, if I said no. I know that there are some comparisons to other players. These things are all different. I know he’s going to have the best medical care possible, here or elsewhere whatever we can do. So we are confident he’s going to be able to come back.”

Gates’ agent, Jon Perzley, boldly asserted that his client will make a full comeback.

“Mark my word, Nick will be back in blue next year. While in some cases these type of injuries can be career-threatening, Nick’s situation is not that. It doesn’t hurt that he is the toughest guy on the planet.”

Reports are that Blake Martinez has a torn ACL, and will miss the remainder of the season.

Two captains now out for the season in consecutive weeks.

Interesting. Per @KimJonesSports, the #Giants are shifting around their O-line. Newly acquired OL Billy Price will start at center tonight vs. WFT.

We’ve mentioned on the prior podcast that Shane Lemiuex was going to try and gut it out, and that was not a good sign, especially given the lack of depth at the O-Line.

The Giants named 7 team captains today: QB Daniel Jones, RB Saquon Barkley, C Nick Gates, LB Blake Martinez, S Jabrill Peppers, S Logan Ryan, and K Graham Gano.

It’s the most captains they’ve had since they began selecting season-long captains in 2007.
