Beloved Giants Conner Back Terrell Thomas Announced his retirement on Thursday. The 30-year-old Thomas tallied 60 regular season games with the Giants, 298 tackles and 12 interceptions from 2008 through 2013. Thomas known for fighting his way back from 3 ACL injures was a proven leader in the giants locker room.

Knowing the game of football, being 29 with three ACL (injuries), I just figured my time is short. I can keep chasing a dream, but I was blessed to be able to come back and play that one year. To be able to show my family and fans, my daughter and myself that I worked hard enough to overcome some significant injuries and I became the second player in NFL history to come back from three ACLs. I didn’t play with a brace. I am proud of my accomplishments. I have been through a lot and I overcame it. I am a smart dude and I am not going to chase football. Football is not chasing me. I feel like my time is over. I was blessed enough to play six years in the NFL. I lived my dream, and now it is time for the next chapter of my life.

Thomas a former second-round pick out of USC in 2008 is hopeful his NFL playing days will not haunt him.

That is hopefully not going to haunt me til my days end, but that is just lifeThat is probably the hardest part that I had to deal with, that I was on the verge of being a very great player. The Giants, coach (former cornerbacks coach Peter) Giunta, coach (safeties coach David) Merritt, (former defensive coordinator) Perry Fewell and Tom Coughlin really instilled confidence in me and made me believe in myself and really brought out the best of me as a football player. I just felt like I left something out there. I felt that I had a lot to prove for myself and the organization. I am so thankful for the opportunity that they gave me. When I realized the time was over, I always wanted to retire a Giant. Once you are a Giant, you are always a Giant. I was just so grateful for the organization, for one, drafting me and for two, sticking with and believing in me all those years. Because if I was with any other organization, I don’t think I would have had the chance to come back in 2013.

his third ACL repair Terrell Thomas is set to make his 2013 return vs the Jets Saturday Night. This will be Thomas’ first game since August 22, 2011 preseason game vs the Bears. Thomas once showed potential to be The Giants shutdown corner, now looks for his own space in Big Blue scheme.

“I’m coming back as a football player,” Thomas said. “I don’t know what they’re going to do with me. We’ve talked about the safeties role, the nickel role, the corner role. I think it’s whatever I can take.”

Jerry Reese Risk vs Reward.

For Jerry Reese, does risk equal reward? Maybe that is what separates him from other GM’s. Do not think his moves are just blind risks, they are well planned maneuvers and calculations. With two Super Bowl rings on his fingers, risk equals reward.

Reese’s reputation to recognize talent and not be scared off faults on a pros and cons list. Known to take a flyer on an injured player. Finding the right mixture of talent, motivation and team roll.

Here are a few players in the risk vs reward category.

Safety Cooper Taylor, taken in the 5th round of this years draft,

was passed on by many due to a prior heart condition named Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. The Giants found his size, 6’4″ 228-pounds, and talent to be a great value in those late rounds.

Linebacker Aaron Curry, who was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft by Seattle and considered a draft day lock, has found him self on the PUP list. He looks to make the giants squad and prove doubters wrong.

Linebacker Mark Herzlich, with a well documented battle with Ewing’s sarcoma, has become the 1st ever NFL player to play with a prior cancer history.
