This article comes much later than usual, as I struggle to process the disheartening state of the Giants’ season. Disgust and frustration with the team’s performance made it hard to gather my thoughts and write about another disappointing loss.

Frustration at MetLife Stadium

The Giants faced another tough defeat, losing 14-11 to the Saints. This loss marks a significant low in an already bad season. Fans at MetLife Stadium cheered when the Saints blocked the final kick. It was clear that many fans are now embracing the tank for a better draft pick. The atmosphere in the stadium reflected the team’s struggles, with low attendance and dwindling hope.

Struggles on the Field

Drew Lock’s performance was underwhelming throughout the game. His efforts to win were evident, especially towards the end when he tried to secure a tie and push the game into overtime. Despite his ability to scramble and gain yards, Lock was not supported by the team’s management. Fans reacted sharply when Tommy DeVito entered the game, cheering his play. However, they quickly turned to boos when DeVito left the field, showing their frustration with the coaching decisions.

Malik Nabers also showed his determination. He made several tough catches late in the game, helping the Giants get closer to field goal range. His effort was a bright spot in an otherwise bleak performance. Unfortunately, the team was plagued by too many penalties. These costly mistakes prevented them from scoring more points and ultimately losing to a struggling Saints team.

Declining Fan Support

The Giants’ woes extend beyond the field. Ticket prices dropped to as low as $1, highlighting the lack of interest from fans. The empty seats at MetLife Stadium are a testament to the declining support. It’s no surprise that fans have given up attending games regularly. The Giants are now 0-7 at home in 2024, with a strong possibility of going winless at home this season. Upcoming games against the Ravens and Colts seem unwinnable, pushing the team towards a potential 2-15 record.

A Season Gone Wrong

The Giants started the season with some hope, holding a 2-3 record. However, the team’s performance quickly deteriorated, resulting in 8 straight losses. The initial belief that a better quarterback could turn the season around now seems like a distant memory. With only four games left in 2024, the Giants face an uphill battle. None of the remaining games appear winnable, and the team might end the season with just 2 wins and 15 losses.

In conclusion, the Giants’ season has been one of the most disappointing in recent memory. From poor performances on the field to declining fan support, the team has struggled on multiple fronts. As the season wraps up, the hope for a turnaround seems slim, leaving fans and players alike to reflect on what went wrong.

Giants Thanksgiving Loss: A Disheartening 27-20 Performance Against the Cowboys

Offensive Struggles Continue.

The New York Giants’ quarterback room is the weakest in the league. While quarterback play isn’t the sole can I have a few options , it’s one of the biggest. Drew Lock, once a candidate for QB1 in Week 1, couldn’t even secure a win against a lackluster Dallas team. Lock showed slightly better mobility than Tommy DeVito but still fell short. Lock led the team in rushing with 57 yards, highlighting the offensive woes.

The Giants’ offensive line is another glaring issue. Without Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor, the line crumbled. Earlier this season, the line was at least serviceable. Against Dallas, it was downright abysmal. The Cowboys’ defense dominated, exposing the line’s vulnerabilities.

Defensive Failures Persist.

Missed tackles remain a constant problem for the Giants. Rico Dowdle, a relatively unknown player, recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game. The Giants’ run defense simply couldn’t contain him. Meanwhile, the pass rush was nonexistent, failing to register a single sack or even touch Cooper Rush.

Special Teams Show No Spark.

Graham Gano converted two field goals and both extra points, but special teams’ contributions ended there. The Giants’ kick and punt return units offered no meaningful production, continuing a season-long trend.

A Grim Outlook.

The Giants’ Thanksgiving struggles are well-documented. They haven’t won a Thanksgiving game since 1982 and are now 0-3 against the Cowboys on the holiday. At AT&T Stadium, their losing streak stretches back to Week 1 of 2016, with an 0-8 record since then.

Looking ahead, John Mara’s frustration in the press box was palpable. Changes could be imminent, and Black Friday might signal firings. With five games left, the Giants’ chances of winning another game appear bleak. The race for the No. 1 overall pick is on, a spot the Giants haven’t held since 1965. Could history repeat 60 years later?

The Offense Struggles Again

Tommy DeVito’s performance against the Buccaneers showed why he remains a third-string quarterback. Facing a tough Tampa Bay pass rush, DeVito held the ball too long, a recurring issue from last season. While he tried to make plays, he struggled against a solid defense.

The Giants’ offense looked lifeless. With just 245 total yards and seven points, it’s clear they couldn’t match Tampa Bay’s defensive intensity. Jermaine Eluemunor’s exit during the game didn’t help the offensive line, which was outclassed throughout the contest. The Giants’ offensive woes at home continue to haunt them.

The Defense Falls Flat

The Buccaneers offense moved the ball at will, exposing the Giants’ defensive vulnerabilities. The Giants managed zero sacks against Baker Mayfield, a disappointing statistic for a team that once led the league in sacks.

Tampa Bay’s offensive success highlighted how far the Giants’ defense has fallen. At times, it seemed as though they couldn’t have stopped a college team, let alone an NFL opponent.

Special Teams and Future Outlook

Special teams offered no relief for the Giants. The kick and punt return units have struggled all season, and Sunday’s game was no exception. The Giants failed in all three phases of the game.

With just 60 points scored in six home games, the Giants’ offense ranks dead last in the league. Their 0-6 record at MetLife Stadium raises doubts about whether they’ll secure a home win this season.

The Giants face a short turnaround with a Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Cowboys. With a 2-10 record looming, draft pick watch is officially underway. Fans are left wondering if brighter days are ahead for this struggling team.

A Difficult Decision for Both Parties

The New York Giants made a surprising announcement today regarding quarterback Daniel Jones. Giants President John Mara shared an official statement addressing Jones’ departure from the team.

“Daniel came to see me this morning and asked if we would release him,” said Mara. “We mutually agreed that this decision was best for him and for the team.”

This decision marks a significant change for both the organization and Jones, who has been with the team since being drafted in 2019.

High Praise for Jones’ Character

Mara did not hold back his admiration for Jones’ professionalism.

“Daniel has been a great representative of our organization, first class in every way. His handling of this situation yesterday exemplifies just that,” Mara explained.

Despite the challenges leading to this moment, Mara made it clear that the team still holds Jones in high regard.

“We are all disappointed in how things have worked out,” he said. “We hold Daniel in high regard and have a great appreciation for him. We wish him nothing but the best in the future.”

Benched in Favor of Tommy DeVito

Earlier this week, Jones was benched in favor of third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito. The move hinted at a shift in the Giants’ strategy and raised questions about Jones’ future with the team. This release now confirms that the Giants are moving in a new direction.

While the decision may be difficult for fans and the organization, it underscores the Giants’ focus on their long-term plans. As for Jones, his next chapter awaits, and he leaves New York with the respect and gratitude of the franchise.

Giants Bench Daniel Jones After Disappointing Season.

The New York Giants made a decisive move on Monday, benching quarterback Daniel Jones and demoting him to QB3. This effectively marks the end of his career in East Rutherford. The decision came after a Week 10 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Germany, a performance that left fans and analysts alike questioning Jones’ future.

Giants Promote Tommy DeVito to QB1

Instead of elevating Drew Lock to the starting role, the Giants opted to promote Tommy DeVito to QB1. Head coach Brian Daboll explained the reasoning behind the move during a press conference:

“After evaluating a bunch of things and looking at a lot of tape and being around Tommy last year where he created a little bit of a spark for us, that’s the reason why we’re going with Tommy,” Daboll stated. “Drew will be the backup. Continue to work with him. He’s been nothing but a pro and as was Daniel.”

While Daboll avoided specifics about Jones’ demotion, financial considerations are likely a factor. The team faces an injury clause and a $23 million guaranteed salary for Jones in 2025. Acknowledging this openly could lead to complications with the NFLPA.

Daniel Jones Addresses the Fans

On Wednesday, Daniel Jones shared his thoughts in a prepared statement, expressing gratitude for his time with the Giants:

“The opportunity to play for the New York Giants was truly a dream come true,” Jones said. “I’m extremely grateful to the Mara and Tisch families for the chance to play here. The Giants are truly a first-class organization, and I have nothing but genuine respect and appreciation for the people who have built it and who helped carry on that tradition.”

Jones acknowledged his struggles this season and took accountability for the team’s lack of success:

“Of course, this season has been disappointing for all and, of course, I wish I could have done more. I’m 100% accountable for my part. I did not play well enough, consistently enough to help the team get the results.”

What’s Next for the Giants?

The Giants now turn to DeVito to create a spark as they prepare for their next game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fans will watch closely to see if this bold move can salvage the remainder of the season and set a new direction for the future.

Daniel Jones Remains the Starter, but Pressure Mounts on Giants

The New York Giants are sticking with Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback, according to head coach Brian Daboll. However, the pressure is building. Fans are already frustrated, as seen by the boos heard throughout the season opener.

Fans Divided Over Booing Daniel Jones.

Some fans feel it’s too early to boo Daniel Jones, while others are tired of waiting for results. The last time Jones threw a touchdown at MetLife Stadium was against the Colts in 2022. Many are eager to see him succeed but are losing patience.

Daboll Acknowledges Team’s Poor Start.

When asked about Jones’ confidence, Brian Daboll didn’t sugarcoat the situation. “We’ve played one game, no one did good enough that first game,” he said. This statement reflects the team’s poor start, with many players not performing up to par.

Jones’ Worrisome Stats Over the Last 8 Games.

Daniel Jones has struggled in his last eight NFL games, throwing 2 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, and 3 pick-sixes. He’s also had 5 fumbles, adding to the team’s offensive woes.

Could Change Be Coming?

With Daniel Jones’ performance under the microscope, Coach Daboll is also feeling the heat. If the struggles continue, there could be a push to try other quarterbacks like Drew Lock or Tommy DeVito in the coming weeks.

The Giants need results, and fast. How long will the team and fans wait for a turnaround?

Daniel Jones Struggles in Return

Daniel Jones played his first game since November and looked terrible. He failed to score and had two costly interceptions, including a pick-six. If Jones continues to struggle early this season, Coach Brian Daboll will have to bench him. The boos at MetLife were loud and relentless, beginning early in the game and following Jones as he left the stadium.

Giants Fans Want Change.

Jones’ poor performance, combined with Saquon Barkley’s strong debut for the Eagles, has fans frustrated. They’re already calling for Drew Lock or Tommy DeVito to replace Jones. Some are even looking ahead to the 2025 draft class for a new quarterback.

Running Game Woes Without Barkley.

The Giants’ running game was virtually non-existent. Devin Singletary managed just 37 yards on 10 carries, while Daniel Jones added only 15 yards on six carries. Barkley’s absence is clearly felt in the run game, even if paying a 27-year-old running back wasn’t the best long-term move.

Nabers’ Solid Debut.

Malik Nabers had a decent NFL debut with five catches for 66 yards. However, with the Giants’ offense struggling, nothing spectacular stood out.

Hyatt’s Quiet Game.

Jalin Hyatt was targeted only once and finished with no catches. A disappointing start for the promising young receiver.

Defensive Issues Persist.

The Giants’ defense had its struggles, too. Dexter Lawrence notched the team’s only sack and forced an interception. However, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns failed to record any sacks. The defense also struggled to contain Aaron Jones, who nearly reached 100 yards and scored a touchdown.

Gano Scores Giants’ Only Points.

Graham Gano was the only player to put points on the board for the Giants, going 2-for-2 in field goal attempts.

Fans Leave Early as Vikings Dominate.

Due to the blowout, many Giants fans left MetLife Stadium early, disappointed with the team’s performance. A large group of Vikings fans remained, celebrating their team’s dominant win in what felt like their home stadium.

Looking Ahead to Week 2.

The Giants can’t afford to start the season 0-2, especially with a tough schedule ahead. Next week’s game against the Commanders will be crucial.

As the Giants prepare for the season opener, fans can look forward to an exciting season with this talented roster.

With the initial 53-man roster set, the Giants will now focus on assembling their 16-man practice squad, starting on Wednesday. Once waivers clear at noon EDT, unclaimed players become free agents and can sign with any team, either for a spot on the 53-man roster or the practice squad.

Tough Night for the New York Football Giants in their preseason finale.

The New York Giants fell 10-6 to the New York Jets in their preseason finale. The game highlighted some significant concerns as the team prepares for the regular season.

DeVito Struggles, but Still Has a Chance.

Tommy DeVito struggled against the Jets’ backups, completing only 14 of 27 passes for 103 yards and getting sacked eight times. Despite these struggles, he led the team in rushing with 48 yards. With Daniel Jones’ injury history and Drew Lock currently sidelined, DeVito could still make the roster. However, if the Giants decide to part ways with him, it wouldn’t be surprising.

Evan Neal’s Rough Return.

Evan Neal’s return from the PUP List didn’t go as planned. Although he started off solid, his performance quickly declined. Neal allowed several sacks, looking like his old self rather than someone ready to reclaim his spot. It seems Jermaine Eluemunor is set to be the Giants’ right tackle going forward.

Bubble Players Face Uncertainty

Isaiah Hodgins’ roster spot is in jeopardy, and after tonight’s performance, it wouldn’t be shocking if he gets cut. The Giants’ defense also struggled with missed tackles, which could lead to many bubble players being released. However, K.J. Cloyd made a strong case for himself with 16 tackles, including eight solo and two for a loss.

Preparing for the Regular Season.

With preseason over, the focus shifts to the regular season opener against the Vikings on September 8th. The Giants will be monitoring waiver cuts and exploring potential trades, with needs at cornerback, backup offensive line, and possibly a young quarterback. Cutdown day is Tuesday, August 27th, when rosters must be trimmed to 53 players by 4 PM EST.

Giants Starters to Sit Out Preseason Finale Against The New York Jets

Get Ready for Game Day! Giants vs. Jets in the preseason finale kicks off at 7:30 PM at MetLife Stadium!

As per Jordan Raanan, most of the New York Giants starters will not play in today’s preseason finale against the Jets. According to Raanan’s sources, the coaching staff has decided to rest the majority of the first-string players in preparation for Week 1.

The Giants got their work in this week with a joint practice against the Jets. It was their second joint practices of the summer in addition to the starters playing in last week’s preseason game vs. Texans.

DeVito to Take the Lead in the Final Preseason Matchup

With the starters sitting out, the focus shifts to the rest of the roster. We speculated earlier that Tommy DeVito would take most of the snaps, with Drew Lock potentially serving as an emergency backup. This preseason finale offers a crucial opportunity for the backup players to make their case for a spot on the final 53-man roster.

Roster Spots Up for Grabs

Jordan Raanan’s report underscores the importance of tonight’s game for the players on the bubble. With the regular season just around the corner, this is the last chance for many to prove they belong on the roster. The coaching staff will be closely watching the back end of the roster to see who steps up and earns their place on the team.

By resting the starters, the Giants are prioritizing their health and readiness for the regular season kickoff. It also allows the coaching staff to evaluate the depth and talent they have as they prepare to finalize their roster.
