Brandon Jacobs Named 69th On The New York Giants Top 100 Players List.

The New York Giants recently honored Brandon Jacobs by naming him 69th on the team’s Top 100 Players list. This recognition celebrates his significant impact on the franchise.

Brandon Jacobs’ Contributions to the Giants.

Brandon Jacobs spent eight seasons with the Giants, setting a franchise record with 60 rushing touchdowns. He also finished with 5,087 rushing yards, the fourth most in team history. His 1,136 rushing attempts rank fifth in franchise history, showcasing his durability and role as a key player.

In addition to his rushing touchdowns, Jacobs caught four passes for touchdowns. His 64 total touchdowns are the fourth highest in Giants history.

Tom Coughlin on Brandon Jacobs.

Former Giants coach Tom Coughlin praised Jacobs for his contributions, especially during their two Super Bowl wins. Coughlin described him as a true team player who embraced any role given to him. “Brandon could always be counted on. He loved every part of the game,” Coughlin said.

Jacobs played 107 regular season games and appeared in 11 playoff games. In those playoff appearances, he rushed for 464 yards and scored five total touchdowns.

Career Highlights.

Jacobs was drafted by the Giants in 2005 as a fourth-round pick. In 2007, he became a 1,000-yard rusher for the first time, despite missing five games due to injuries. His best season came in 2008 when he rushed for 1,089 yards and 15 touchdowns.

In Super Bowl XLVI, Jacobs contributed 37 rushing yards in the Giants’ 21–17 victory over the New England Patriots.

Jacobs left a lasting legacy on the Giants organization, both on and off the field.

Former New York Giant Brandon Jacobs trying an NFL comeback as defensive end?

Let’s take the words right from Brandon Jacobs mouth, or Twitter, and sometimes Instagram.

Well since Tebow came back after being off a good bit, I am announcing today that I to will comeback. I will play defensive end for whatever team gives me a chance!!!
— Brandon Jacobs (@BrandonJacobs27) May 27, 2021

“Well since Tebow came back after being off a good bit, I am announcing today that I to will comeback. I will play defensive end for whatever team gives me a chance!!!”

“I am really serious about coming back as a defensive end. I can still run, I am strong and there’s no way Tim Tebow is a better athlete than I am. I just need a shot that’s it!! If I can’t cut it I’ll take it like a man. Just give me one chance that’s all!!”

“It’s amazing the hate coming my way.”

“@Giants I am ready. I am ready to hit sack any QB out there.”

“Just a FYI that pic I posted was me not doing anything for months. Today this all came about. So that’s me not doing anything at all give me 2 weeks and watch the difference.”

“When I’m in tip-top shape, I am going to look better than anyone out there; I am going to move better than anyone out there, That’s just facts.”

“It started off as a joke and ended up serious. I am dead fucking serious,” Jacobs said, adding that he’ll be up early on Friday morning to workout.

Another New York Giants legend chimes in!

I would love to see it happen, also he gets the thumbs up from New York Giants Legend and Former QB Eli Manning!

Get it done BJ. https://t.co/6B4OrKHHHZ
— Eli Manning (@EliManning) May 27, 2021

The Grass Isn’t Always Greener For Ex New York Giants.

Sometimes the grass just isn’t greener on the other side. This seems to be the case for some Ex Giants players . I understand that business is business and you only have a few shots of signing a big contract, but I wonder if any of them regret leaving for “greener” pastures.

To be honest this post is a bit biased. I would love Justin Tuck to retire as a Giant and take his place on our ring in honor. Sometimes it may prove better to take the home town discount. I won’t plead this case, I’ll have former Giants do it for me.

“I’ve talked to Justin and I told him he should try whatever he can to stay in New York,” Osi Umenyiora said. “Because he is New York.”

It hasn’t gone to swell for Osi after leaving New York for Atalanta. He tallied 7.5 sacks as the Falcons finished a disappointing 4-12. It is now rumored that the Falcons will cut Osi prior to march 11th to save $500,000 incentives.

In similar fashion RB Brandon Jacobs was released by the Giants in early March of 2011, just before he was due a $500,000 roster bonus. Both sides continued to try to reach a new agreement but could not find middle ground during negotiations. Jacobs later landed with San Francisco, where he was overlooked and lashed out at management, specifically Coach Harbaugh. Jacobs totaled seven yards in two games and was eventually cut.

Injuries to both running backs David Wilson and Andre Brown forged a reunion for Jacobs with Big Blue. “The Giants have given me a great opportunity. This is where I wanted to be. These are the coaches I want to play for and I wanted to come back with my teammates. This is the place I love most.”said Jacobs.

Want another example?

The Giants offered then stud slot receiver and Manning favorite Steve Smith a five-year, $35-million contract extension in 2010. Smith decided to play out his contract and test the free agent market. Smith lasted to mid-season and badly injured his knee. Instead of having the comfort of the deal the Giants offered, he was headed for a long summer of micro fracture surgery & rehab.

Smith and the Giants medical staff had different opinions on the progress of his rehab. Smith felt he was ready for week one and the Giants felt he should start the season on the PUP list (physically unable to perform). The Smith camp quickly signed with the Eagles for a one-year, $2 million deal. The Giants claimed they were never given a chance to counter offer. Smith suited up in green and started his season with the Eagles. The Giants fans were calling for GM Jerry Reese’s head. Reese’s only answer was a an un-drafted wide receiver named Victor Cruz & a Super Bowl win.

There are many other stories of ex Giants to never reclaim the glory. Kevin Boss, Mario Manningham, of course Plaxico Burress.. Those are stories for another day.

What are your thoughts?

The post The Grass Isn’t Always Greener For Ex New York Giants first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

Deep Football Thoughts Week 2 Week one in the NFL is complete…

Week one in the NFL is complete and half the fan bases are planning trips to the Super Bowl, while the other half are heading for the roof tops. We as fans are always over exaggerating after week one, win or lose. We’ve all waited a long off season for the game we love to come back and sometimes we let our emotions get in the way of rationale thinking. No matter who you cheer for, if your team won, things aren’t that good and if your team lost, things aren’t that bad.

Don’t get me wrong, a win is a win any day of the week. You don’t apologize for them and you never give them back. What I’m saying is, whoever you root for, whether your team looked great like the Broncos, 49ers and the Chiefs or was humbled like the Giants, Redskins and Falcons, things always look better or worse then what the really are in the NFL and everything can change in a hurry.

Keep in my mind how ugly some of the games were in week one. Penalties, turnovers, bad tackling, poor timing, all as a result of a preseason that is more designed to keep players healthy for the regular season than actually ready for it.

Week 2 should have some much improved play on the field and that should lead to some great games for the fans to enjoy this weekend, which if you are like me means a serious case of agita.

PICKS OF THE WEEK…If I had money to bet.

Week One Picks — Pushed with the Bengals +3. Lost with the Bucs -3 and Packers +4.5. Won with Seahawks -3.5 and Broncos -7.

Week One Results – 2 – 2- 1 AGAINST THE SPREAD.

Week 2 Picks:

Cardinals +1 over the Lions — Cards are a home dog against mediocre Lions team. Lions are explosive, but with Patrick Peterson and the Honey Badger, who really doesn’t give a shit, roaming the secondary, the Cards pick Stafford at least 2 times and win outright. Also Like the Over here at 47.5.

Cardinals 34 Lions 24

Bengals -7 over the Steelers — Division game with both teams staring at 0-2 on Monday Night Football. Biggest thing going for the Bengals is that front 4 with Steelers Center Pouncey out with an injury. AJ Green goes off and the Bengals D punishes Big Ben all night. This one could get ugly.

Bengals 27 Steelers 10

Eagles -7.5 over the Chargers — Start with the fact that the NFL for some reason still schedules 1 pm starts for teams traveling east from the west coast. End with the fact that you should expect Chip Kelly to look to impress Philly fans and have Vick, D-Jaxs and Shady McCoy primed to put on a show with the Eagles Ludacris Speed type offense, somewhere Dark Helmet is smiling.

Eagles 41 Chargers 20

Bills +3 over the Panthers– Do we really trust Cam Newton and the Panthers as road favorites in Buffalo? That’s a tough to place to go win a game, and the Bills coming off a loss in which they played the Patriots tough should be able to put up some points and get their first win of the season. If you have Stevie Johnson in your fantasy leagues….PLAY HIM!!

Bills 23 Panthers 14

UPSET OF THE WEEK —

I’m gonna give you two of these this week. The first one is all me and the second I was given by my Dear Brother who swears he got the lock the week…

Giants +5 over the Broncos — I know its Peyton Manning and the Broncos, and they can not be stopped because they are superhuman specimens and yada yada yada … The Giants will show up with a chip on their shoulder and look to atone for a pathetic performance against the Cowboys last week. These are the games the Giants usually surprise some people in and it ain’t like the Orange Crush Defense of old is heading on to the field to stop Eli. I like the Giants going away in this one….

Giants 45 Broncos 28

Brother Bonus Pick : Rams+7 over the Falcons — Banged up WR’s for the Falcons, rusty Tony Gonzalez and a suspect running game against a feisty Rams team that is well coached by Jeff Fisher. The Rams may not have enough to win the game but keep it close enough to give Atlanta a scare.

Falcons 20 Rams 16

Fantasy Corner — Week 2

Not a bad week last week. Huge miss with David Wilson, but take solace in the fact that I used Wilson as my keeper this season and was just as hurt as all of you. Good games from Miles Austin, Daryl Richardson and Micheal Floyd. But the “I told you so” player of the week ended up being Jordan Cameron who went all beast mode against a very good Miami Defense.

Week 2 Starts–

QB Carson Palmer – Arizona Cardinals — Threw for 327 yds and 2 TDs last week and should find a lot success against the Detroit secondary. Play Michael Floyd and Andre Roberts as well…good things.

WR Marlon Brown – Baltimore Ravens — Two things here. 1. Cleveland shut down CB Joe Haden will be all over Ravens WR Torrie Smith. 2. Jacoby Jones is out. Brown had a very successful preseason and it carried over into the regular season for week one. Should get a ton of targets against the rest of the Browns suspect secondary.

WR Leonard Hankerson – Washington Redskins — Whenever Hankerson plays he is productive. And after a 5 catch 80 yards and 2 TD performance on MNF, coach Mike Shanahan said this week that he needs to see more playing time. Lenny could be in store for a big week in what looks to be a shoot out in the making in Green Bay.

RB Darren Mcfadden -Oakland Raiders — Biggest thing Sir Hurt-A-Lot has going for him is that he is healthy. He looked fast and ran with some power last week, also almost made one hell of a TD catch as well. Mcfadden will get touches and has a favorable match up against the lowly Jaguars.

RB Eddie Lacy – Green Bay Packers — Here is my pick for Rookie of the Year award. Lacy in this offense is the perfect compliment to Rodgers, Jordy, Cobb and Finley. Runs down hill and has a knack for finding the first down markers and the end zone as he showed last week against a monster defense in San Francisco. Lacy goes HAM against the Skins.

TE – THE BLACK UNICORN- Martellus Bennett- Chicago Bears — Cutler found him last week and I fully expect against the Vikings, Cutler will find The Black Unicorn frolicking freely in the middle of the field for another TD or 2. Expect a lot of red zone targets for Martellus through out the season.

ATTENTION GIANTS FANS;

Please, for the love of God, relax. It’s one week. We will be OK. We saw some good, some bad and a whole lot of ugly against Dallas on Sunday night. More than anything else though, I saw potential. Some Pros and Cons heading into the Week 2 show down with the Broncos.

Pro: Reuben Randle – If this guy is going to play like this all year, watch out. With Nicks and Cruz healthy, Randle is a nightmare match up for opposing defenses.

Con: David Wilson – HIGH AND TIGHT, HIGH AND TIGHT!! Talk about a nightmare start to the season. But I will not lose faith. Been a huge fan of Double Deuces all along and won’t sell out now. Fully expect him to fix this problem sooner rather than later and be a huge part of this teams success this season.

Pro: JPP Played – Good sign seeing JPP out on the field for week one. The sooner he gets into game shape the better but contributed with a sack and should get better every week moving forward.

Con: Dan Connor –Looked to be just coming into his own for this defense and now with him done for the year do the Giants trust unproven Mark Herzlich or does Jerry Reese call Micheal Boley??

Pro: Run Defense — Was stout at the point of attack and should just get better with the talent the G-Men have up front.

Con: Run blocking — Baas being back at Center this week and Boothe moving to Left guard should help tremendously against the Broncos.

2 Minutes left in the game, down by 6, ball on

They unbelieveable, shaving https://serratto.com/vits/cialis-canada-shop.php love this trying use https://www.jambocafe.net/bih/viagra-mexico/ our reaction can face generic canadian drugs cialis they irritation skin stopped buy hydrochlorothiazide bazaarint.com Nothing’s many very viagra price comparisons balls used ability md pharmacy discounts cialas jqinternational.org product this product really…

our own 45 yard line. I thought the game was over. Eli to whoever, Touchdown Giants, game over. I was wrong.

Sometimes in sports, especially football, there are such things as good losses. Sometimes a loss like this, on the road, against a division rival, 6 turnovers and still having a chance to win but coming up short, is a good thing. A wake up call if you will. Sometimes they can be used as positives, the shape of things to come, motivation.

It’s one game, we will be just fine. In Reese and Coughlin we trust.

They did the right thing bringing in Brandon Jacobs this week. The people that were calling for Wilson to be cut, benched for good or designated to special teams only, you all need stop it. There is a reason Jacobs, Mcgahee and Michael Turner were not on rosters to start the season. Joe Morris, OJ Anderson and Rodney Hampton are not walking through that door. No one on this roster, and no back that is still available as a free agent is a better option than #22. Jacobs is the perfect fit. He will take the pressure off Wilson in short yardage and goal line carries and can more than protect Eli in shotgun formations, but more importantly, he can be a mentor to Wilson.

Wilson is the guy people. It’s all on him. He can be great, an All-Pro talent if he wants to be, or he could be a what if. Make no mistake about it, he could be as good as he wants to be and the thing you have to like about the kid is he WANTS to good, it bothers him to the core what happened and he is going to be determined to show that it was a fluke and it’s not what can be expected from him as the starter.

My friends were busting my chops this week. My cousin called me Jimmy ‘the jinx”. See according to some of my closest friends and family members, I am responsible for the failures and fulfilled potential of so many Giants of the past. If I take a liking to a player they are doomed to get hurt, get released, possibly become a douche and/or never fulfill the lofty expectations I predict. Some examples of this over the years are:

Phil Simms being released for salary cap reasons after a season where he received MVP consideration. My fault.

Dan Reeves releases Ed McCaffery. My fault.

The mistakes known as Tyrone Wheatley, Ron Dayne and Clint Sintim respectively. My fault.

Ramses Barden… 4 years, one good game and a pass interference call to lose a game in Philly, BRAVO. My fault.

And my two biggest jinxes of all time, I’m sorry Giants fans, Jeremy Shockey and Jason Sehorn. I still claim to all who will listen that Sehorn was Coach Fassel’s fault for letting him return frigin kicks when he was going to be the greatest corner of all time, but I digress…odds are…it was my fault.

Now, according to my friends, I am responsible for David Wilson, who I have been shouting about from the tops of mountains since he was drafted.

In my opinion, both the Wilson fumbles and the loss to the hated Cowboys is a blip on the radar, a bump in the road, a learning experience for a young player and promising team, a team and player both over flowing with potential.

Expect that potential to surprise the Broncos on Sunday at 4:25. Don’t worry Giants fans, the best is yet to come for us…and David Wilson.

Deuces.

The post Deep Football Thoughts Week 2 first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.
