Giants Better Pick Up the Phone Before Trade Deadline

New York Giants Eye Wide Receiver Help

With the 2025 NFL trade deadline quickly approaching on Tuesday, November 4 at 4 p.m. ET, the New York Giants continue to explore ways to strengthen their offense. According to multiple reports, Joe Schoen and the front office have been calling around the league for wide-receiver help as the team looks to stay competitive down the stretch.

The loss of Malik Nabers for the season was a massive setback, removing their top playmaker from the equation. Fortunately, Darius Slayton has returned to action, giving the offense a bit of stability — but there’s still a clear need for another reliable target.

Brian Daboll has made it clear this group needs more juice, and with the deadline days away, the Giants remain a team to watch.

Pelissero Lists Top Wideouts on the Trade Block

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, several receivers have been floated as possible trade options:

  • Jakobi Meyers (Raiders)
  • Calvin Ridley (Titans)
  • Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, or Brandin Cooks (Saints)
  • Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins)

Pelissero reports that a deal for Chris Olave could cost around a third-round pick. That’s steep — and I still don’t want the Giants giving up future assets or premium draft capital. If a move happens, it should come from players they’re willing to move on from, not by mortgaging the future.

Jakobi Meyers (Raiders)

Still one of the most talked-about names on the block. Meyers has been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but his reliability and route running could easily draw interest from New York if the price is right.

Calvin Ridley (Titans)

It’s been quiet on Ridley’s front. No major buzz or movement yet, though Tennessee could always surprise if they decide to retool their offense before the deadline.

Chris Olave (Saints)

Olave’s name continues to come up more than any other New Orleans receiver. The Saints are reportedly seeking high draft picks in return, which could drive the Giants out of the bidding — but his talent and upside make him a name to monitor.

Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins)

Miami keeps publicly denying that Waddle is available, yet the situation feels shaky. The Dolphins have only one win, the coach is on the hot seat, and Waddle has recently been spotted following several Giants players on Instagram. It might mean nothing — but at this time of year, everything gets noticed.

Brian Thomas Jr. (Jaguars)

Dianna Russini reports that the Jacksonville Jaguars are listening to calls for Brian Thomas Jr., even if a move feels unlikely. The team is also shopping for defensive help. Still, pairing Thomas with his former LSU teammate Malik Nabers when he returns next year would be an exciting thought for Giants fans.

What About Isaiah Hodgins?

One more name I keep coming back to is Isaiah Hodgins. He’s familiar with Brian Daboll’s system, has produced in New York before, and would likely cost next to nothing to bring back. He’s not flashy, but he’s dependable — and right now, the Giants could use exactly that. Sometimes the best moves are the simple ones.

Looking Ahead

The receiver market is active, and the Giants are clearly monitoring every angle. Schoen’s challenge is finding the balance between helping his young quarterback now and protecting the future. The front office has been aggressive in its calls, but smart, sustainable moves must take priority over desperation.

With the trade deadline fast approaching, New York remains one of the most intriguing teams to watch. Whether they add a playmaker, stand pat, or quietly plan for next season, one thing’s certain — the Giants are on the horn and staying involved in every conversation.
