New York Giants QB Drama: Dart vs Wilson Heats Up

by Marco Ceo

Giants Fall to 0-3 and Face Harsh Reality

The New York Giants are staring at an ugly 0-3 start. All offseason, the message was about starting fast. Instead, this team has stumbled out of the gate and now faces long odds. Historically, NFL teams that start 0-3 almost never make the playoffs. Math says the chances are near zero. Watching this Giants team confirms it.

Yet the bigger question fans are asking is not about playoff hopes. It is about the quarterback. How much longer can Brian Daboll stick with Russell Wilson before giving rookie Jaxson Dart the reins?

Russell Wilson Struggles Again

Daboll didn’t name a starter after the loss to Kansas City. That’s not a surprise. Coaches rarely comment on lineup changes right after a game. Still, Wilson’s play is becoming impossible to ignore.

Wilson was sharp in the Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys, but the rest of the season has been a struggle. He looked shaky against Washington in Week 1 and terrible against the Chiefs on Sunday. This continues a trend from his time in Pittsburgh and Denver, where he simply couldn’t deliver consistent production.

Yes, Wilson is probably a future Hall of Famer. But the version the Giants have now is a shadow of the quarterback who once carried teams deep into the playoffs. The flashes of brilliance are rare, and the inconsistency is costing the Giants opportunities to win.

Fans Chant for Jaxson Dart

At MetLife Stadium, the fans made their feelings clear. Chants of “We want Dart” echoed through the stadium. When Dart entered the game, the crowd erupted. When Wilson returned, boos rained down. That tells you everything you need to know about where the fan base stands.

Wilson had a brutal sequence late in the game. The offense reached the red zone with four chances to score. Instead, Wilson ran a draw and then threw three incompletions. His final throw sailed out of the back of the end zone on fourth down, giving his receivers no chance. That is the kind of moment that kills a team.

Why Daboll Needs to Make a Change

Malik Nabers finished with only two catches against Kansas City. For a rookie receiver who should be a focal point, that’s not nearly enough. A more dynamic quarterback like Dart could unlock the offense and create the spark this team badly needs.

The Giants took a gamble on Wilson, hoping he had enough left in the tank. For one week in Dallas, he looked like his old self. But that magic seems gone. With the season slipping away, the call to play Dart will only get louder.

Daboll may not want to make a rash move. But the evidence is mounting. The Giants need to turn the page, and the time to see what Jaxson Dart can do is now.
