Giants Waive Rogers, Dimukeje Out With Injury

Roster Moves Begin as Rookie Minicamp Nears

The New York Giants made a small but notable roster move ahead of rookie minicamp. On Thursday, the team announced the release of defensive lineman Casey Rogers from the 90-man offseason roster.

Rogers joined the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon following the 2024 NFL Draft. He also spent part of his college career at Nebraska before transferring. Although he was active for two games during his rookie season, Rogers didn’t make a statistical impact. He logged 33 snaps on defense and appeared on special teams but did not record any tackles.

The move opens a spot that will likely be filled by one of the tryout players at this weekend’s rookie minicamp. It’s a common time of year for teams to shuffle the back end of the roster and bring in fresh competition.

Dimukeje Injury Hits Edge Depth

In more unfortunate news, edge rusher Victor Dimukeje suffered a torn pectoral muscle during offseason workouts with the Giants, according to a report by Jordan Raanan. Dimukeje was added as a free agent earlier this offseason, bringing depth to the outside linebacker group.

This injury means he’ll miss significant time, and it could open the door for younger players to step up. Luckily, the Giants used a draft pick on Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter, a sign that they’re investing heavily in the position.

Eyes on the Future

With minicamp underway and training camp just a few months out, roster battles will start to heat up. The Giants’ front office remains active in shaping the team, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Keep an eye on the waiver wire and rookie standouts as the offseason continues.
