The New York Giants finally made their move. After months of questions, rumors, and frustration, the organization has a new leader. John Harbaugh is officially the 21st head coach in franchise history. And for the first time in a long time, it feels like the Giants landed a proven winner.

Harbaugh did not hide how much this job meant to him. He called it a “profound honor” and made it clear by saying, “I wanted this job.” Harbaugh wanted to be here. He chose New York. That alone makes this hire feel different.

A Proven Winner Comes to New York

John Harbaugh is not coming in as a project. He is coming in as one of the most accomplished coaches in NFL history. Harbaugh ranks 14th all time in wins. He led the Baltimore Ravens for 18 seasons and guided them to a Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XLVII. During his time in Baltimore, he coached 180 of the franchise’s 276 regular season wins.

His Ravens teams reached the playoffs 12 times. They won six division titles. They appeared in four AFC Championship Games. He also owns 13 postseason victories, tied for seventh in league history and second among active coaches.

For a Giants franchise that has struggled with consistency for years, this kind of resume matters.

Why the Giants Chose Harbaugh

This hire was not rushed. According to team president John Mara, the process was thorough and deliberate. Mara praised general manager Joe Schoen for bringing in a strong group of candidates. But through all the interviews and conversations, Harbaugh stood out.

Why the Giants Chose Harbaugh

Mara said Harbaugh separated himself with his conviction and vision for building a winning organization. That is what this team needs. Not just play calling. Not just motivation speeches. A real plan. Steve Tisch echoed that same message. He described Harbaugh as a proven winner whose teams are disciplined, resilient, and prepared. He also highlighted Harbaugh’s ability to connect with players.

That connection is huge.

Great coaches do not just design schemes. They earn trust. They create culture. They hold players accountable.

The New York Giants End the Season with a Win Over Dallas 34-17.

It was clear after last week that the New York Giants were not going to tank for a draft pick. Some fans were furious that the team could not even tank correctly. Others did not care at all and simply wanted to beat the Cowboys at any cost.

The first overall pick was within reach. That temptation was real. But that is not the story of this game.

Instead, the Giants chose to compete. They chose to finish the season the right way. In the Week 18 regular season finale, the New York Giants defeated the Dallas Cowboys 34–17 and finally snapped a nine game losing streak against Dallas that dated back to Week 17 of the 2020 season.

In a year filled with frustration, injuries, and growing pains, this win mattered. It did not fix everything. It did not erase a 4–13 record. However, it did give the team and the fan base something they badly needed heading into the offseason.

A Long Overdue Win Against Dallas

Beating the Cowboys always matters, but this one carried extra weight. The Giants had not beaten Dallas in years, and the streak had become a constant reminder of how far behind they had fallen within the division.

This time felt different. The Giants played loose, confident football. They did not flinch when the Cowboys pushed back. Instead, they responded and stayed aggressive for all four quarters. Ending that skid was important for the locker room and for fans who have watched too many one sided games in this rivalry.

Mike Kafka Closes His Interim Chapter

Mike Kafka wrapped up his interim head coaching stint with a 2–5 record. The wins were not always clean, but they mattered in context. With his future likely elsewhere, it was good to see him close this chapter with a victory.

It is hard to imagine Kafka returning as offensive coordinator after spending time as the interim head coach. Once you see the other side, going back rarely works. Still, he deserves credit for keeping the team together during a rough stretch and guiding them to a strong finish.

Jaxson Dart Shows Growth to End His Rookie Year

This was one of the more encouraging performances of the season from Jaxson Dart. He played a steady, confident game and looked far more comfortable than he did earlier in the year.

Dart should have finished with three passing touchdowns if not for a Darius Slayton penalty that wiped one off the board. More importantly, he showed growth in how he handled himself. He got out of bounds, slid when necessary, and avoided unnecessary hits.

That matters. It shows a rookie learning how to manage an NFL game. Take a breath, Giants fans. Dart will be okay, and this was a solid way to close his first season.

Tyrone Tracy Ends the Year on a High Note

Tyrone Tracy delivered a strong finish to the season. He rushed for 103 yards and added 56 receiving yards with a touchdown, totaling 159 yards from scrimmage.

That type of balance is exactly what this offense needs. Looking ahead, the combination of Tracy and Skattebo as a one two punch next season makes a lot of sense. A reliable running game will be critical for Dart as he enters his second year.

Tough Roster Decisions Ahead

The Giants face a difficult decision with Darius Slayton. Trading him would be ideal, but there may not be much of a market. Cutting him comes with a $15 million dead cap hit, but paying a receiver $12 million per season for inconsistent production is not sustainable.

On defense, Bobby Okereke continues to make plays. He recorded his second interception in as many games. Despite that, he could be a salary cap casualty heading into the final year of his contract. That decision will be telling.

Ben Sauls Earns Another Look

Ben Sauls had a perfect day. He went 4-for-4 on field goals and finished the season 8-for-8 overall. Consistency matters at kicker, and Sauls earned a real chance to compete for the job in training camp next season.

Ending a Tough Season with Momentum

The Giants finish the year 4–13, but they also end it on a two game winning streak after losing nine straight earlier in the season.

There is still plenty of work to be done this offseason. Questions remain across the roster. Still, beating the Cowboys, showing growth from the rookie quarterback, and finishing strong gives this team something to build on. That matters more than draft position on a day like this.

Giants Win Again and Shake Up the Draft Picture after a Week 17 win over the Raiders, as young players flash growth and draft questions remain.

The post Giants Win Again and Shake Up the Draft Picture first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

The New York Giants picked up a surprising 34 to 10 win over the Raiders in Week 17, and it came with mixed emotions. On one hand, a win always feels good, especially one this convincing. On the other hand, it once again complicates the draft picture when it felt like the top pick was finally locked in.

For the second straight season, the Giants found a way to win a late December game after fans had already started dreaming about owning the first overall selection. Last year it was the Colts. This year, it was the Raiders. Different opponent, same result, and the same frustration for fans watching the draft board shift in real time.

Players Never Tank, Even If Fans Want Them To

This game was another reminder that players simply do not tank. Fans can debate draft position all they want, but once those players step on the field, pride takes over. Careers, contracts, and reputations are always on the line.

If there was a team that looked like it might be thinking about the future, it was the Raiders. Whether you want to call it tanking or just a lack of talent, the end result was the same. At 2 and 14, they now sit as the worst team in football. The Giants took full advantage, and honestly, that is exactly what they should have done.

Confidence Matters for a Rookie Quarterback

Jaxson Dart looked like himself again, and that was one of the biggest takeaways from the afternoon. He was once again playing loose, confident, and aggressive. Over the last month its been difficult for him, glad to see today’s game.

Yes, it came against a bad Raiders defense. That matters. Still, Dart needed this kind of game. He needed to make throws, move the offense, and feel good walking off the field. Confidence is everything for a rookie quarterback, and this performance helped reset things heading into the final week.

This was not about crowning him as the long term answer. It was about stopping the slide and getting him back on track.

Tough Decisions Are Coming at Wide Receiver

Wan’Dale Robinson continues to show why he is going to get paid in free agency. He does the little things well, gets open consistently, and competes every snap. If it were up to me, I would keep Wan’Dale and let Darius Slayton walk.

That might not be a popular opinion, but Robinson brings more versatility and reliability to this offense. He has earned his spot, and this season has made that clear.

Brian Burns Is Playing at an Elite Level

Brian Burns has been outstanding all season. His impact shows up every week, even when teams try to game plan around him. If Myles Garrett were not having the year he is having, Burns would have a very real case for Defensive Player of the Year.

The Giants finally have a true game changer on the edge, and it shows every time he lines up.

Abdul Carter Is Taking the Next Step

Abdul Carter continues to prove that he takes football seriously. His growth has been steady, and the production is starting to match the effort. You can see it on tape. He is more decisive, more physical, and more involved in every phase.

This is exactly the type of progression you want to see from a young defender.

Ben Sauls Deserves a Real Look

Ben Sauls has been solid in his two games with the Giants, and he deserves a chance to compete for the kicker job in 2026. He has done his job, and that is not something this team has been able to say consistently at that position.

Mike Kafka Gets One in the Win Column

Mike Kafka finally gets his first coaching win. It might not change the big picture, but it matters. Going winless as an interim head coach sticks with you. At least now, that will not be part of his story.

Rep The Team No Matter What!

The New York Giants dropped a frustrating 16-13 decision in Week 16, and once again, the same issues surfaced. This game felt winnable, yet it slipped away in familiar fashion. It was another long afternoon that highlighted where this team is right now and why the rebuild still feels incomplete.

A Rough Day for Jaxson Dart

This was easily the toughest start of Jaxson Dart’s young career. From the opening drive, he looked uncomfortable. The rhythm never came. Pressure showed up early, and it stayed consistent throughout the game. The pocket collapsed far too often, forcing Dart to rush throws and abandon reads. That is not a recipe for success for any quarterback, especially a rookie still learning NFL speed.

No, the Giants are not moving on from Dart

Let’s clear this up immediately. The Giants are not going to move away from Jaxson Dart because of one rough outing. Rookie quarterbacks struggle. That is part of the process. Growth is rarely linear, and setbacks are expected. The organization cannot afford to panic again at the most important position on the field. Dart needs time, coaching, and protection before any real evaluation can be made.

Offensive Line Issues Resurface Again

The offensive line had a rough day, especially in pass protection. Injuries played a major role. At one point, the Giants were missing three starters, and they lost two more during the game. That level of attrition is hard to overcome, but depth matters in the NFL. The Vikings consistently won at the line of scrimmage, and it completely disrupted the offense when it mattered most. Until this unit stabilizes, no quarterback will truly have a chance to succeed.

Darius Slayton Lets Another One Get Away

Late in the game, with momentum hanging in the balance, Darius Slayton dropped another crucial pass. Unfortunately, I write this every week. At $12 million per season, expectations are higher. Production should match the contract. Right now, it does not. That decision falls on Joe Schoen, and it deserves scrutiny. These are the types of plays that separate winning teams from teams stuck near the bottom of the standings.

Defensive Bright Spots in a Lost Season

In a season filled with frustration, Brian Burns continues to be a bright spot. He added two more sacks and forced a fumble, pushing his season total to 15. Burns shows up every week, plays with urgency, and finishes plays. Even when everything else feels broken, his effort never wavers.

Abdul Carter Is Turning the Corner

Abdul Carter recorded his third straight sack, which is encouraging. Yes, the offsides penalty cannot happen, but the overall trajectory is positive. He looks more engaged and more locked in. Late-season development still matters, and Carter trending upward is something worth noting.

Kicker Competition Might Be Real

One quiet positive came from Ben Sauls, who delivered a solid debut. Two field goals. One extra point. No mistakes. That performance earns him another look next week. At this stage, consistency is key, and Sauls did his job without creating added stress.

Mike Kafka Is Running Out of Answers

Mike Kafka is now 0-5 as the Giants interim head coach. The effort is there, but the results are not. The team still struggles with situational football, discipline, and execution. Right now, it does not look like a long-term solution. The Giants need direction and accountability, and those elements are still missing.

Eyes on the 2026 NFL Draft

At 2-13, the Giants are firmly in the race for the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. That is the reality, whether anyone likes it or not. Every remaining game now impacts draft position more than standings. The margin for error is gone, and the front office must get this next decision right.

There are pieces here that can matter long term, including Burns, Carter, and Dart. But until the basics improve and mistakes stop defining games, the results will not change.

Another week passed. Another loss added. And another reminder that the Giants still have a long road ahead.

The New York Giants lost 29-21 to the Washington Commanders in Week 15, dropping their record to 2-12. The final score tells part of the story, but once again, the details reveal deeper issues. There were moments of promise, especially from a rookie who finally looked the part, but the same team-wide problems continue to hold this group back.

Abdul Carter Finally Makes His Presence Felt

This was the type of game everyone expected from Abdul Carter when the Giants selected him No. 3 overall in April. Carter was all over the field and played with the urgency and physicality that has been missing for stretches this season.

A Breakout Performance to Build On

Carter finished the game with seven total tackles, three tackles for a loss, one sack, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. He was disruptive in the backfield, active in pursuit, and constantly around the football. This was not a quiet stat-padding game. His impact was obvious on tape and felt throughout the afternoon.

The challenge now is consistency. The talent has always been there, but this team needs Carter to stack performances like this. If he continues to take his preparation seriously and brings this same edge every week, the Giants may finally have the defensive cornerstone they envisioned on draft night.

The Defense Still Cannot Stop the Run

As encouraging as Carter’s performance was, the overall defensive issues remain. The Giants once again struggled badly against the run, allowing 145 rushing yards and a touchdown. This has become a weekly problem, regardless of opponent.

Teams know exactly how to attack this defense. They run straight at it, control the clock, and force the Giants to play from behind. Until that changes, it is hard to see this unit making meaningful progress.

Coordinator Change Has Not Fixed Anything

The change from Shane Bowen to Charlie Bullen has not delivered results. The same issues show up every week. Poor gap discipline, missed tackles, and a lack of physicality at the point of attack continue to define this defense.

At some point, it becomes less about play calling and more about personnel and execution. Right now, the Giants are not winning up front, and that failure bleeds into every other part of the defense.

Special Teams Continue to Hurt the Giants

Another week, another special teams disaster. This unit played a major role in the loss and erased any margin for error.

Younghoe Koo missed two field goals, leaving six points on the field in a game where every possession mattered. On top of that, the Giants allowed a punt return touchdown that completely shifted momentum.

It is hard to justify performances like this at the NFL level. Based on the last two games alone, it would not be surprising if changes were made. That said, with only three games left, the Giants will likely ride it out.

It is especially frustrating because when Graham Gano is healthy, those kicks are usually automatic. His ongoing injury issues have quietly become another setback in a season full of them.

Jaxson Dart Battles Through Another Learning Game

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart had an uneven day, but the effort never wavered. The first half was rough. Timing was off, and he missed a few throws he needs to make at this level.

In the second half, Dart settled down and played with more confidence. He moved the offense, made some tough throws, and kept fighting to give the Giants a chance. There were still missed opportunities, including a throw that should have gone for a touchdown, but the resilience matters.

Dart is learning under difficult circumstances. He is playing behind an inconsistent line, with limited help, and in mostly negative game scripts. While the results are not always clean, the compete level is encouraging.

Tyrone Tracy Delivers a Solid All-Around Game

Tyrone Tracy put together a respectable performance and made a bit of team history in the process. He became the first Giants player since Saquon Barkley in 2023 to record both a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in the same game.

Tracy was not dominant, but he was effective. He continues to show versatility and effort, two traits this offense desperately needs. He has earned continued opportunities as the season winds down.

Darius Slayton’s Drops Are Again Costly

Darius Slayton continues to struggle with consistency. The drops are piling up, and this game included one that should have been a touchdown. The ball hit him in the hands, and the Giants came away with nothing.

For a young quarterback trying to gain confidence, those mistakes are damaging. At this point, Slayton has not played up to the expectations that came with his contract. Dependability matters, and right now, that is missing.

Mike Kafka’s Chances Continue to Fade

Interim head coach Mike Kafka is now 0-4 since taking over. The Giants are playing hard, and the effort is noticeable. However, effort alone does not win games.

With each loss, Kafka’s chances of becoming the permanent head coach in January grow smaller. The Giants may respect the fight, but results matter, and the wins are not coming.

Draft Position Is Now Front and Center

At 2-12, draft watch is no longer subtle. Every loss strengthens the Giants’ position near the top of the board. While players and coaches will continue to compete, the organization is clearly approaching a crossroads.

Abdul Carter’s breakout offers a glimpse of what this team could become. The question is whether the Giants can build on moments like that, or if these final weeks will simply confirm how much work still lies ahead.

This game felt lopsided from the very beginning. The Giants never settled in or found any rhythm, and the Patriots controlled the pace on every drive. It was the kind of night where the Giants were hanging on more than they were fighting back, and the final score reflected exactly that.

This Monday Night Football matchup was rough from the opening kickoff. The New York Giants played exactly like a 2-10 team walking into the home of a 10-2 contender, and the scoreboard reflected every bit of that gap. At no point did it ever feel like the Giants were in this game. This was the first time all year where they were simply outclassed for all four quarters. It was not competitive and it certainly was not close.

New England dominated in every phase. Even special teams were tilted heavily in their favor. They outkicked the Giants, outpunted them, and won the return game with ease. When a team gets beaten that badly in all three phases, you know the night is heading in the wrong direction.

Jaxson Dart’s Return and a Big Priority Ahead

It was at least good to see Jaxson Dart back on the field. He took a couple of big hits, some really heavy shots, but bounced back up and kept playing. That part was encouraging. At this point in the season, the main objective is simple. Keep him healthy. Keep him out of the blue tent. Protect the franchise quarterback. The staff needs to stay on him about sliding earlier because he cannot keep absorbing these hits.

Abdul Carter’s Ups and Downs

A Sack Overshadowed by Discipline Issues

Tonight could have been remembered as the night Abdul Carter earned his first full NFL sack. Instead, most of the conversation will be about him being benched for the entire first quarter due to another disciplinary situation. He is still young, but this cannot become a trend. If he wants to be a leader on this defense, he needs to carry himself like a pro every day. Talent only takes you so far. Professional habits take you the rest of the way.

Drake Maye Shreds the Giants Defense

Drake Maye had whatever he wanted tonight. The Giants defense had no answers for him. He attacked the secondary from start to finish and completed passes at will. The tackling was shaky, the coverage was loose, and the pressure never came close to rattling him. As for Charlie Bullen in his first game as interim defensive coordinator, this was not the debut he would have hoped for. The defense looked lost far too often and could not adjust to anything the Patriots threw at them.

Mike Kafka’s Tough Start as Interim Head Coach

Mike Kafka now falls to 0-3 as the interim head coach. In his first two games, at least the Giants were fighting until the final minutes. This game was different. This was the first time under Kafka where the team was completely overwhelmed and never found a rhythm. Performances like this do not help him in the conversation for the permanent job. It is difficult to make your case when the team takes a step backward like this.

A Losing Streak With No End in Sight

The Giants have now dropped seven straight games since their last win over the Eagles. That victory feels like it happened forever ago. The bye week arrives at a perfect time, but the four games that follow will still be another grind in what has become a long and painful season.

Looking Ahead at the Draft Position

At 2-11, the playoff conversation is over. What remains is draft positioning and the long term outlook. This team will have major decisions to make in the offseason. Coaching, roster building, and development will all be on the table.

From my own point of view, the Giants had been playing hard in recent weeks even in the losses. This game did not fit that pattern. This was flat from start to finish. At this point, I think the organization will move on from Kafka when the season ends.

The New York Giants fire Bowen after defensive lapses close the Lions game following repeated 4th quarter letdowns cost the Giants critical wins.

The post Giants fire Bowen after defensive lapses close the Lions game first appeared on Bleedbigblue.com.

The roller-coaster season continued and, frankly, it hit the point of no return. The New York Giants parted ways with their defensive coordinator, Shane Bowen, after a collapse that felt far too familiar.

On Sunday, The New York Giants dropped a 34–27 overtime decision to the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. The late game letdown marked the fourth loss this year where the defense failed to hold a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter. Add to that, this was the fifth road game where the team owned a double-digit lead and still came up empty.

Let’s be honest. It’s tough to watch. It’s even tougher to write about.

The defense surrendered 17 straight points to finish the game. In that stretch, the magic from a once-commanding lead disappeared. Interim head coach Mike Kafka was asked about his trust in Bowen right after the game. His answer? Business-as-usual presser talk.

“Yeah, I do. I have a lot of confidence in Shane and his entire staff.” – Mike Kafka

Every week, we hear coaches support their guys at the podium. But you could see the truth clear as day. The tape told a different story than the postgame quotes.

Bowen’s defense came into the season with hype. But, surprisingly, the back end collapses kept showing up. The effects trickled down. Blow a lead once, it’s a stumble. Twice? It’s a trend. But four times? That’s a breaking point for any franchise trying to find a new heartbeat.

Giants OT Collapse Reaches New Low in Week 12 as the Detroit Lions rally to a 34 to 27 win. Defensive coaching questions continue, and the fourth quarter issues prove no lead is safe.

Before diving into the game itself, I need to start with this. It is frustrating to look back at the offseason and realize that most of the money and focus went to the defensive side of the ball. On paper the defense looked strong. Many of us said that before the season. Yet here we are watching one of the worst defensive units in the league. It is shocking how far the group has fallen. I warned people that Shane Bowen could be an issue and we are seeing exactly that every single week.

The New York Giants continue to find new ways to lose games they should win. Until the defense is fixed, these collapses will keep happening. Now let’s look at what went wrong in this latest loss.

Shane Bowen’s Defense Remains a Major Problem

Shane Bowen delivered another fourth quarter collapse. At this point there is not a single lead that feels safe with him running the defense. Ten point lead, fourteen point lead, it does not matter. The Giants defense cannot close, and it starts with his coaching.

Then came the overtime disaster. Your star defensive tackle is standing on the sideline for the first play of overtime. The Lions immediately score on a 69 yard touchdown. That kind of decision should cost a coach his job on Monday morning. It continues to feel like Bowen is not adjusting, not improving, and not putting players in positions to succeed.

The run defense also hit a new low. Jahmyr Gibbs ran wild for 219 yards. The Lions finished with 237 on the ground. That type of performance falls on coaching and preparation. This defense was supposed to be the strength of the team, yet it feels like the biggest liability.

Jameis Winston Shines Despite the Loss

Jameis Winston actually played one of his best games in a Giants uniform. Three total touchdowns and even one he caught himself. He threw for 366 passing yards and kept the Giants alive all afternoon. Yes, he took a sack to end the game. Yes, he threw a pick. Even with those mistakes, he outperformed expectations and kept the Giants competitive.

The Offense Shows Life Under Kafka and Kelly

Mike Kafka and Tim Kelly deserve some credit. The offense finally looked creative. The trick plays worked. They created scoring opportunities. Even the offensive line held strong for nearly the entire game. Outside of the final sack, the line played one of its best games of the season and has been one of the few bright spots.

Isaiah Hodgins continues to prove why the Giants made a mistake by not signing him the moment Malik Nabers went down. Hodgins has more touchdown catches in two games than Jalin Hyatt has in twelve. Hodgins stepped in and became one of the Giants most reliable targets right away. Joe Schoen not making that move sooner was a major miss.

Wan’Dale Robinson also had the best game of his career. He looked explosive, dependable, and ready to cash in as a pending free agent.

Young Talent Steps Up While Other Spots Remain Issues

Rookie Darius Alexander grabbed two sacks and showed real progress. The Giants need their young defenders to develop, and this was one of the few positive signs.

On special teams, Younghoe Koo continues to make a strong case to be the Giants kicker next year. He looks steady, confident, and reliable.

Mike Kafka Still Chasing His First Win

Mike Kafka is now 0 and 2 as the interim head coach, but he is keeping the Giants competitive. They have been in both games. They have played hard for him. If he wants the permanent job, wins will matter. Close losses will not be enough. The front office needs to see real results.

Playoff Hopes Are Gone

The Giants are officially eliminated from playoff contention. All eyes now turn to draft positioning and how the final stretch shapes the future of this team.

A Frustrating Loss That Feels All Too Familiar

The New York Giants dropped another tough one, falling 27 to 20 to the Packers in Week 11. What stings is how familiar this script feels. Once again, the Giants were competitive. Once again, they held a fourth quarter lead. And once again, the defense could not close it out. For a team that has spent the entire year inventing new ways to lose, this one fits right in with the rest of the 2025 season.

Kafka Steps Up, But One Move Still Needs To Happen

Shane Bowen’s Defense Is Fully To Blame

Mike Kafka made some bold calls in his first week as the interim head coach. The offense had life. The team played with energy. But there is one move he still needs to make. It is time to fire Shane Bowen as the defensive coordinator.

The Giants blew yet another fourth quarter lead. Brian Daboll is not here to take the heat anymore. This one is all on Bowen. His defense has failed in every key moment this year. At this point, the only real fix is change at the top. Let Andre Patterson or Marquand Manuel take over the unit for the rest of the season. Kafka needs to make that decision this week.

The Wide Receiver Situation Is A Mess

Jalin Hyatt Continues To Disappoint

I have no idea how the Giants ever talked themselves into Jalin Hyatt. He is just not a good football player right now. The team traded up for him in the third round and has gotten almost nothing in return. And the crazy part is this could have been avoided. Joe Schoen should have swallowed his pride and moved him back in August. Instead, the Giants are stuck with a receiver who cannot produce and cannot be trusted.

Isaiah Hodgins Makes An Immediate Impact

On the flip side, Isaiah Hodgins walked back into the building and outproduced the entire wide receiver room in less than a week. Hodgins should have been signed the day after Malik Nabers went down. He is dependable, he understands the system, and he gives the quarterback a reliable option. It makes you wonder why this move took so long.

Cornerback Help Is Needed Right Now

The Giants absolutely need to bring in free agent cornerbacks for workouts this week. Injuries are piling up, depth is thin, and it is easy to see how opponents continue to pick on the secondary late in games. There is no way they can finish the season with this current group and expect different results.

Jameis Winston Is Exactly Who He Has Always Been

Jameis Winston played like the player we all know. Competitive, aggressive, willing to take chances, and fully capable of throwing touchdowns and interceptions in the same game. Some of his throws easily could have been picked off. He was lucky to finish with only one interception.

But Winston also gave the Giants a real chance to win. When the game is tight, he will always swing. Sometimes it works. Today it did not.

Big Moments From Key Players

Brian Burns Keeps Building His Case

Brian Burns picked up two more sacks and continues to build a serious case for Defensive Player of the Year. His production this season has been one of the few bright spots for this team.

Tyrone Tracy Continues To Impress

Tyrone Tracy put in a strong performance with 88 rushing yards and 139 total yards. He ran hard, fought for extra yards, and kept the offense moving. The Giants should also consider calling up Dante Turbo Miller to add even more juice to the run game.

A Season Full Of Missed Chances

The Giants were competitive but still found a new way to lose. That has been the theme of the entire 2025 season. Every time there is a chance to take control, something breaks down in the final minutes.

It really makes you wonder what this team’s record would look like if the defense had held just a few of these leads. They could easily be sitting in a much different spot right now.

Looking Ahead To Week 12

Mike Kafka will go for his first win as a head coach next week on the road against a strong Lions team. It will not be easy, but he gets another shot.

Draft pick watch continues. Head coach watch continues. And the 2025 season rolls on.

Rep The Team No Matter What!

The New York Giants fire head coach Brian Daboll after 2-8 start to fourth season. The move signals a full reset for a franchise that desperately needs new direction.

The New York Giants have officially decided to move on from head coach Brian Daboll after opening the season 2 8. The announcement came down Monday morning, and it signals the end of a tenure that once looked promising but never truly got back on track after the 2022 playoff run. Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will take over as interim head coach for the rest of the year.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport first reported the move. By the time it became official, most fans were already expecting it. The season felt stuck in repeat mode, and the collapse in Chicago on Sunday only added to the frustration. Blowing a late 10 point lead to the Bears pushed emotions to the edge and brought this decision to the front door.

Daboll’s Tenure Never Recovered After 2022

Early Success Raised Expectations

Daboll arrived with energy, creativity, and the reputation of a coach who could bring stability to a franchise badly in need of it. His debut season supported that belief. The Giants went 9-7-1 and made the postseason, then stunned Minnesota on the road. It felt like the foundation of something real.

But that first year ended up being the high point. Over the next two and a half seasons, the wins slowed to a crawl. The Giants collected only 11 victories during that stretch. The spark faded, the offense stalled, and the team never found the consistency needed to take the next step.

Repeated Late Game Collapses

What made things worse was how predictable the losses became. Week after week, the Giants were in games, only for small mistakes and mental lapses to pile up at the worst possible times. Sunday’s loss to Chicago looked like a replay of earlier failures. A solid lead late in the game, followed by a complete shutdown in the final minutes. Four straight defeats and another road meltdown sealed Daboll’s fate.

Ownership acknowledged the disappointment directly. John Mara and Steve Tisch said the results were not acceptable, and they understood why fans have grown frustrated. They thanked Daboll for his time in New York, but it was clear they felt the franchise had hit a dead end.

Joe Schoen Will Lead the Next Chapter

One part of the announcement surprised fewer people. General manager Joe Schoen is staying in place and will run the head coaching search. Ownership doubled down on Schoen just last week, and Monday’s statement confirmed it once again.

This decision puts significant responsibility on Schoen’s shoulders. The next hire will shape the direction of the franchise for years. It will impact how Jaxson Dart develops, how the roster is built, and how quickly the team can climb out of this cycle. Schoen pushed for continuity, and now he has to deliver on it.

Why the Timing Made Sense

Daboll Entered 2025 With Very Little Margin

Daboll began this season firmly on the hot seat. The 3 14 finish in 2024, combined with the decision to move on from Daniel Jones, left ownership unsure if another year would bring change.

Going into 2025, the front office tried to give Daboll every possible chance to turn things around. The quarterback room was rebuilt with multiple directions to explore. Russell Wilson arrived. Jameis Winston arrived. And the Giants made the bold move to trade back into the first round to draft Ole Miss star Jaxson Dart. The message was clear. Daboll had options. It was on him to make it work.

The Results Were Too Hard to Ignore

Ten games in, the Giants looked like the same team from last year. Injuries, stalled drives, communication breakdowns, and defensive slip ups kept showing up. The Chicago loss did not create the problem. It confirmed that nothing was changing.

At 2 8, with a young quarterback waiting to be developed and a fan base running out of patience, ownership chose to hit the reset button now rather than dragging out the inevitable.

What Comes Next for the Giants

Mike Kafka will run the team the rest of the way. Schoen will begin the coaching search. And for the Giants, this becomes another turning point in a long stretch of uncertainty.

There is young talent in important positions, and the franchise needs leadership that can build something stable around it. The Daboll era started with hope but ended with the feeling that everything was stuck in neutral.

The Giants now have a chance to start fresh. The question is who will step in and take on the challenge.

Rep The Team No Matter What!

Even through the ups and downs, we bleed blue. And if you’re gearing up for a fresh season, there’s no better way than with the just-released Jaxson Dart New York Giants jersey — flying off the shelves!
