Giants Make Bold Move to Land Jaxson Dart.
The New York Giants made headlines on draft night by pulling off a major trade with the Houston Texans to move back into the first round. With the 25th overall pick, they selected quarterback Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss — a player they had been eyeing for quite some time.
Earlier in the evening, the Giants opened their 2025 NFL Draft class by taking All-American edge rusher Abdul Carter out of Penn State. Then, as the draft approached the 20s, General Manager Joe Schoen and Head Coach Brian Daboll began working the phones from their Draft Room. Eventually, they secured a deal with Houston that brought them the 25th pick.
In return, the Giants sent the Texans the 34th and 99th picks in this year’s draft, plus a third-round selection in 2026.
Why the Giants Wanted Jaxson Dart.
Dart arrives in New York as Ole Miss’ all-time leader in passing yards — a record previously held by none other than Eli Manning. The Giants believe he has the tools to thrive at the next level.
“He’s got a lot of the qualities you look for,” said Daboll. “Tough, smart, athletic, and he’s played in a tough conference.”
Schoen added that the evaluation process for quarterbacks began last May. “We’re fired up to have Jaxson Dart as part of this organization,” he said.

After the trade, the Giants have five picks remaining in the draft:
- No. 65 (Round 3)
- No. 105 (Round 4)
- No. 154 (Round 5)
- No. 219 (Round 7)
- No. 246 (Round 7)
