Darius Slayton Agrees to Terms Before Free Agency

The New York Giants are keeping one of their most consistent weapons. Wide receiver Darius Slayton has agreed to terms on a new deal, just before he was set to hit free agency when the new league year begins at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 12.

Slayton, a fifth-round pick in 2019, has been a steady presence in the Giants’ offense since he entered the league. In 92 regular-season games (66 starts), he’s hauled in 259 catches for 3,897 yards and 21 touchdowns. His career long of 80 yards came in the 2023 season. He’s also started two playoff games, recording five catches for 92 yards—an impressive 18.4-yard average.

Consistency and History-Making Numbers

Slayton’s impact goes beyond the stat sheet. His 15.0 yards per reception ranks eighth in the NFL among players with at least 120 receptions since 2019. Even more impressive, he’s the only player in Giants history to lead the team in receiving yards in four of his first five seasons. That includes 740 yards as a rookie, 751 in 2020, 724 in 2022, and 770 in 2023.

On the Giants’ all-time leaderboard, Slayton ranks 17th in receptions, 18th in receiving yards, and is tied for 22nd in touchdown catches.

A Meaningful Milestone

Slayton’s rookie season was especially memorable. He led the team in receiving yards (740) and touchdowns (8), tying A.J. Brown for the most touchdowns among rookies in 2019. His final touchdown that season also happened to be the last of Eli Manning’s legendary career.

Leader On and Off the Field

Slayton’s work off the field hasn’t gone unnoticed. He was the Giants’ 2024 nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, recognizing his dedication to the community as well as his performance on the field.

With Slayton back in blue, the Giants retain a dependable playmaker and leader.
