The Giants waived LB Uani Unga.

The Giants waived/injured linebacker Uani Unga today, as reported by ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

The Giants waived/injured Uani Unga, who opened 2015 as their starting middle linebacker but was made expendable by the acquisitions this offseason of Keenan Robinson, B.J. Goodson and others. They signed undrafted CB Matt Smalley from Lafayette.

Unga quickly became a Giants fan favorite when stepping in for an injured Jon Beason and claiming the middle linebacker position for a few games.

I must say I’m sad to see Unga go, I always root for the underdog and the ones that devote that extra effort.
