WHERE THE HELL CAN I GET A JERSEY?
For the past several weeks, I have been shopping around for one of the new NFL jerseys with my brother and friend. There are three new types of jerseys made by Nike; these jerseys have prices of $100 for the Game jersey, $135 for the Limited jersey and $235 for the Elite jersey. Each jersey has unique differences in them and we (myself, my brother and our friend) decided that we wanted the Limited jersey, after reading about each one online. The Limited jersey is more comfortable to wear and for the extra $35, there is no real reason why you wouldn’t spring for that over the Game jersey.
We went out to stores to try to see them in person and we were able to see each jersey type on a mannequin. This reaffirmed our decision that the Limited jersey is the one we like, but the problem is we couldn’t find any in stock. We went to NikeTown, owned by the company that has the new NFL contract for all their equipment, and they only had two options for Big Blue; several Game jerseys in all different sizes and only two players with Limited jerseys, either XXL or bigger. They had no Elite jerseys for the Giants, which didn’t bother us that much because there isn’t that big of a difference between the Limited and Elite except for the price. Since the store seemed to be really lacking in product, we decided to take our search to the internet. This lead to the ridiculous outcome that the online store had even less to choose from, with the website stating that everything was out of stock and didn’t even have a back order option. Since then we have given up on trying to order from the website and have taken to the streets, continuously looking through Modell’s, Champs and NikeTown in search of the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
After weeks of footwork, we finally walked into the Champs near Times Square. Immediately we find a rack of Limited Jerseys, all Tuck and Eli. While sifting through the rack, we discover that all of the jerseys are XL or bigger. We asked the staff, which turned out to be a tease because the guy said they had different sizes in the back. After waiting for fifteen minutes, the sales guy came back empty handed saying that is all they had. This wasn’t a problem for me, I picked up an XXL, but my brother and our friend were screwed. I asked the salesmen helping me if he knew when they would be getting more and he just said we get shipments everyday and we don’t know what is in the shipment. Somehow they don’t know what is in the shipment, but the jerseys get sold out almost immediately. Guess we’re gonna have to find some Champs stock guy connections.
I don’t understand why it is so hard to find these jerseys and why Nike can’t even stock their own store correctly… I don’t even want to get started about the embarrassing size of the Giants/Jets section compared to the Cowboys, Pats and Packers sections. All I can say is that Nike is doing a horrible job with their new contract supplying jerseys to fans. Just take my damn money!
