Orlovsky Highlights Jones’ Struggles with Touchdowns and Turnovers
On ESPN’s Get Up, Dan Orlovsky expressed concern over New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones‘ two interceptions against the Houston Texans in his preseason debut. Orlovsky didn’t hold back, stating, “Daniel Jones hasn’t thrown for three touchdown passes in a game since 2019. For that to rear its ugly head again, that’s got to be an issue.”
This critique comes after Giants head coach Brian Daboll downplayed the interceptions, emphasizing the positives in Jones’ performance. Daboll acknowledged that while the interceptions were unfortunate, Jones needed these live reps after his long recovery from an ACL tear.
Orlovsky, however, is worried that the same old issues may resurface. His point about Jones’ lack of three-touchdown games since 2019 underscores the pressure on the quarterback to perform. The upcoming season is crucial for Jones, and these preseason mistakes could be a sign of deeper issues that need to be addressed.
While Daboll remains optimistic, Orlovsky’s concerns highlight the importance of consistency and avoiding costly mistakes, especially as the regular season approaches. The Giants need Jones to step up, and his performance against the Texans will be closely scrutinized as he continues to shake off the rust.
