Is Cooper Rush The Favorite To Land The Giants Backup Quarterback Role?
The original signing as Per ESPN’s Jordan Rannan
The New York Giants claimed quarterback Cooper Rush off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday.
Rush was waived on Monday after the Cowboys signed Andy Dalton. Rush served as Dak Prescott’s backup prior to the addition of Dalton.
The move reunites Rush and former Cowboys coach Jason Garrett, who was hired this offseason as the Giants’ offensive coordinator. They spent the past three seasons together in Dallas.
Followed by the the contact renegotiation as per Field Yates.
After being claimed off of waivers, the Giants and QB Cooper Rush agreed to a renegotiated deal with a base value of $1.25M, which includes some guaranteed $ for Rush. Rush was previously due a non-guaranteed $2.133M, so he gets some security in competing for a reserve QB gig.
