Howard Cross Honored as One of the Top 100 Players in Giants History

Howard Cross Named 88th on New York Giants Top 100 Players List.

The New York Giants have honored Howard Cross by naming him 88th on their Top 100 Players list. This recognition highlights Cross’s remarkable contributions to the franchise during his 13-year career.

A Giants Legend with Longevity.

Howard Cross’s tenure with the New York Giants began in 1989 when they drafted him in the sixth round. Over the next 13 seasons, Cross played in 207 regular-season games. At the time of his retirement in 2001, no player had worn the Giants jersey in more games.

Cross is one of only four players in Giants history to join the exclusive 200-game club. He stands alongside Eli Manning, Michael Strahan, and George Martin. This achievement cements Cross’s place as a durable and reliable presence in the team’s history.

Super Bowl Success.

Cross’s career wasn’t just about longevity; it was also about winning. He played a key role in the Giants’ Super Bowl XXV victory over the Buffalo Bills. In that game, Cross caught four crucial passes, each resulting in a first down. His contributions helped the Giants secure a narrow 20-19 win.

A decade later, Cross helped the Giants reach another Super Bowl, this time in 2000. Though they fell short in Super Bowl XXXV, Cross’s leadership and experience were invaluable.

Howard Cross’s inclusion in the Top 100 list is a well-deserved honor for a player who gave so much to the New York Giants. His impact on the franchise continues to be felt long after his playing days ended.
