New York Giants Legend Dave Meggett Honored as One of Top 100 Players in Franchise History.

The New York Giants have officially honored Dave Meggett as one of the top 100 players in franchise history. Meggett, known for his incredible special teams performance, was named 85th on the list.

Dave Meggett’s Impact on Giants History.

Drafted in the fifth round of the 1989 NFL Draft, Meggett quickly made his mark. His prowess in the return game set him apart, earning him a spot in Giants and NFL history. He retired in 1998 with a then-NFL record of 3,708 punt return yards.

Records That Still Stand.

Meggett remains the Giants’ leader in punt return yards with 2,230 and holds the franchise record for punt return touchdowns (six). His punt return average of 11.0 yards and 146 kick returns still stand as Giants records today. As a rookie, he earned First-Team All-Pro honors and his first of two Pro Bowl selections.

Offensive Contributions.

In addition to his special teams dominance, Meggett contributed on offense. He caught 231 passes for 2,194 yards and scored 10 touchdowns during his time with the Giants, making him a dual-threat on the field.
