James Hudson III Joins the Giants Offensive Line
The New York Giants have agreed to terms with offensive tackle James Hudson III, pending a physical. This move adds depth and experience to the offensive line, a position group that’s always in demand.
Hudson brings size and versatility. He stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 313 pounds. Originally drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Hudson has played in 47 regular-season games. He started 17 of those games, with 14 starts coming at right tackle and three at left tackle last season.
A Proven Contributor in the Run Game.
Hudson made an impact as a rookie. He played in 12 games and started four at right tackle. That year, the Browns led the league with an impressive 5.09 yards per carry. It was their best team rushing average since 1966. Hudson was part of the line that helped star running back Nick Chubb finish second in rushing yards that season and third the year after.
From Ohio to New York.
Hudson has spent his entire football career in Ohio—until now. He played high school football at Central Catholic, then went on to college at Cincinnati after transferring from Michigan. At Cincinnati, he played in 11 games and helped anchor a line that was a Joe Moore Award semifinalist.
Now, he’s heading to New York to protect the quarterback and open holes in the run game. If he passes his physical, Hudson could be a key rotational player for the Giants’ O-line in 2025.
This is a smart, low-risk move by the Giants. Hudson adds veteran depth and competition in the trenches.
