Giants Add Special Teams Standout Chris Board

Chris Board Brings Experience and Grit to Big Blue.

The New York Giants have agreed to terms with veteran linebacker Chris Board, pending a physical. At 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, Board brings seven years of NFL experience. He’s appeared in 114 regular-season games with the Ravens, Lions, and Patriots.

Board started his NFL journey in 2018 as an undrafted free agent with the Ravens. He’s only missed two games in that time. His durability and consistency are impressive.

A Special Teams Ace Joins the Giants.

Board has built a strong reputation on special teams. In 2024, during his second stint with Baltimore, he led the team with 382 special teams snaps. Since entering the league in 2018, he ranks fifth in the NFL with 65 special teams tackles. As a rookie, he notched 12 special teams tackles—second-most by an undrafted rookie in Ravens history. His consistent impact in this phase of the game makes him an immediate asset for the Giants.

A Tough, Versatile Defender.

While Board is best known for his special teams work, he’s also made solid contributions on defense. His career totals include 90 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and five tackles for loss. He’s added nine quarterback hits, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. As the Giants continue to build depth and toughness on defense, Board is a perfect fit.

A Smart, Reliable Signing for the Giants.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the deal is a two-year contract worth up to $6 million. This move signals the Giants’ commitment to strengthening core areas of the roster with reliable, experienced talent. Board’s versatility and durability make him an ideal fit for a team looking to build a more consistent and physical identity on defense and special teams.
