Giants Sign Guard Jon Runyan. The New York Giants have made a smart move. They’ve signed former Packers guard Jon Runyan. This is a three-year, $30 million contract. Notably, $17 million is guaranteed at signing. This news comes from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Former Packers guard Jon Runyan reached agreement on a three-year deal with the New York Giants for $30 million, including $17 million guaranteed at signing. The deal was confirmed by agents Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln.

Runyan brings experience to the team. He has played 3,330 offensive snaps in four seasons. This includes 1,709 snaps at right guard and 1,611 at left guard. Runyan allowed 64 total pressures and seven sacks in his career. Interestingly, 22 of those pressures came last year. He also gave up two sacks and committed six penalties in 2023.
Joe Schoen’s Bold Moves
Joe Schoen clearly wanted to improve the offensive line. The signing of Runyan shows this. Interestingly, this news came right after Saquon Barkley signed with the Eagles. Barkley’s contract is for three years, $37.75 million. It can go up to $46.75 million with incentives. Moreover, $26 million is fully guaranteed.
Barkley’s deal averages $12.58 million a year. On the other hand, Runyan’s AAV is $10 million. Barkley’s name might be more popular, but Schoen’s investment in Runyan is smart. Runyan’s presence will strengthen the offensive line. This is crucial for the Giants’ success.
Ironically, Jon Runyan is the son of a former Eagles tackle, also named Jon Runyan. This adds an interesting twist to his career path. Additionally Giants legend Michael Strahan had a well known rivalry with his father.
Therefore, this signing brings hope. It shows the Giants are serious about improvement. Consequently, fans have a lot to look forward to this season. Runyan’s experience and skill will be vital. Above all, this move can help the Giants reach new heights.
