Aaron Thomas Named 90th On Giants Top 100 Players List.
The New York Giants recently announced that Aaron Thomas has been named the 90th greatest player in franchise history. A true legend, Thomas made an indelible mark during his time with the Giants, earning his place among the all-time greats.
A Key Trade and Lasting Impact.
Originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 1961, Aaron Thomas was traded to the Giants early in his sophomore season. This move proved to be a pivotal moment in Giants history. Partnering with legendary quarterback Y.A. Tittle, who also joined the team from the 49ers, Thomas became a critical piece of the Giants’ offensive puzzle.
A Record-Breaking Career.
Thomas went on to set a franchise record for tight ends with 35 touchdown receptions, a mark that still stands more than fifty years after his final game in 1970. His 117 games played for the Giants are second only to Howard Cross among tight ends, and his 247 receptions rank fifth in franchise history.
Thomas’ impressive 17.2 yards per reception remains the third-highest average in Giants history among players with at least 200 catches. His contributions were instrumental in some of the most prolific scoring seasons in Giants history, helping Tittle earn the 1963 NFL MVP award.
Aaron Thomas’ legacy as one of the Giants’ all-time greats is secure. His inclusion on the Top 100 Players list is a well-deserved recognition of his lasting impact on the franchise.
