Kareem McKenzie Named 82nd On The New York Giants Top 100 Players List.
The New York Giants have announced that Kareem McKenzie has been ranked 82nd on the franchise’s Top 100 players list. McKenzie, a key offensive tackle, played a pivotal role in two Super Bowl victories for the Giants.
A Dominant Run with the Giants.
McKenzie joined the Giants in 2005 as a free agent from the Jets. He solidified the offensive line, starting 116 games over seven seasons, including 11 postseason appearances. McKenzie was part of the legendary offensive line quintet that started 38 consecutive games, the longest streak since the AFL-NFL merger. This group, which included David Diehl, Rich Seubert, Shaun O’Hara, and Chris Snee, anchored the team’s success during that era.
Key Contributor to Historic Moments.
In 2005, McKenzie helped the Giants achieve their first playoff berth in three years and win the NFC East. That season, he paved the way for Tiki Barber, who had the best rushing season in Giants history with 1,860 yards. Barber’s record-breaking performance helped the Giants offense soar, and McKenzie was a major reason for the team’s success.
McKenzie’s contributions didn’t stop there. He played an instrumental role in the Giants’ victories in Super Bowl XLII and XLVI, cementing his legacy in franchise history. Originally drafted by the Jets in 2001, McKenzie quickly became a cornerstone of the Giants’ offensive line.
McKenzie’s journey started at Willingboro High School in New Jersey, followed by an outstanding college career at Penn State. His inclusion in the Giants’ Top 100 players list is a well-deserved honor for a player who left a lasting impact on the franchise.
