Giants QB Tommy Devito Speaks Out on Potential Roster Move
The New York Giants face difficult decisions as they trim their roster before the season. Quarterback Tommy Devito, an undrafted free agent, has shown promise during training camp and preseason games.
His performance has sparked a conversation about whether the Giants should retain him on the active roster or risk placing him on the practice squad, where other teams could claim him.
Giants QB Tommy Devito told the New York Post’s Ryan Dunleavy that it would be a “gamble” for the team to cut him and try to keep him on the practice squad.
“That’s up to them to make that decision, make that gamble. I’m going to continue to play. We’ll see how everything unfolds. If they decide to [cut me] and I get scooped up, I don’t get to make that decision [to say] afterwards, if somebody grabs me, ‘No, I want to stay here.’ It’s everything for the front office,” he said.
DeVito’s confidence and readiness to seize any opportunity highlight his competitive mindset. As roster decisions loom, the Giants must weigh the potential loss against the need for depth at quarterback. DeVito’s fate will soon be decided by the team’s front office.
