2011 Giants vs. 1989 Giants

Spoiler Alert: Upset City….

All you youngsters out there are gonna flip shit when you read this…but it wasn’t even close. If you remember this ’89 team, if you saw them play, then you know the deal.

It was like the 89 team still had a bad taste in their mouths after the Flipper Anderson incident. This was ball control, physical, smash mouth football.

The 89 team dominated time of possession and took advantage of a 2011 team that had trouble for most of the year against the run. The 89 team ran for over 200 yards as both OJ Anderson and Dave Meggett rushed over the century mark. And 2011 Eli, despite the trio of Nicks, Cruz and Manningham, had zero time to throw the ball. He was pressured all day by LT and the Big Blue Wrecking Crew.

The 89 team only threw the ball 18 times on the day, as the game plan was clearly to ground and pound the 2011 team into submission. It worked indeed.

The score was 21 nothing at half time….it was never close.
1989 Giants 27 – 2011 Giants 7
