Deep Football Thoughts Week 12

Happy Thanksgiving and a happy and healthy holiday season to all who follow us here on BleedBigBlue.com. What am I thankful for? Plenty….

I am thankful to Marco, head of BleedBigBlue.com, for the opportunity to write and share my thoughts on not only the New York Giants, but the entire NFL with you. I am grateful beyond words and hope to write for many seasons to come. Thank you Marco for giving me a chance.

I am thankful to whoever reads my musings…I hope my thougts provoke emotion out of my readers. Good, bad or indifferent. I hope at times I have made you laugh…fired you up or even had you say..”Wow..this asshole has no clue what he is talking about.” I am totally fine with conjuring up any of those emotions in you…If you are reacting at all to my words, in a good or bad way, it brings a smile to my face.

I am thankful to Phill Simms and Lawrence Taylor who showed me the Big Blue Light 28+ years ago.

I am thankful for seeing and remembering vividly 4 Super Bowl vicories….also thankful for personal days which enabled me to go to two parades…good times.

I am thankful “to all the girls I’ve loved before….who have traveled in and out my door…I’m glad you came along…I dedicate this song…to all the girls I’ve loved before.”

I am thankful for Scott Norwood….I am not thankful for Flipper Anderson.

I am thankful for Drew Brees, Adrian Peterson, AJ Green, Jamal Charles, Zak Stacy and Josh Gordon for making my fantasy team bad ass.

And most of all….I am thankful for December 2nd, 2003. The day my daughter Adriana was born. She turns 10 tomorrow. Where does the time go? Seems like the last decade has gone by so fast…not only for Coughlin, Eli and our Giants….but for a beautiful, smart and incredibly funny young lady. I have watched her grow in awe over the last ten years and still find myself staring at her in wonder at times. She is the one gift I have received that makes me think I did something right in my lifetime, and she enriches my life every single day more than she will ever realize. I am so proud of you Adriana, and I can’t wait to drag you to Giants training camp again next year…. Daddy loves you…(heartface).

FANTASY PLAYS OF THE WEEK —

QB’S I’D PLAY — CAM NEWTON (PANTHERS) — JOSH McCOWN (BEARS) — CARSON PALMER (CARDINALS) — EJ MANUEL (BILLS)

RB’S I’D PLAY — DANNY WOODHEAD (CHARGERS) — RYAN MATTHEWS (CHARGERS) — MIKE TOLBERT (PANTHERS) — SHANE VEREEN (PATRIOTS) — MONTEE BALL (BRONCOS) AND ANDRE BROWN (GIANTS)

WR’S I’D PLAY — JOSH GORDON (BROWNS) — DONNIE AVERY (CHIEFS) — MICHEAL FLOYD (CARDINALS) — KENDALL WRIGHT (TITANS) — ALSHON JEFFREY (BEARS) — CORDARRELLE PATTERSON (VIKINGS) — PERCY HARVIN (SEAHAWKS) AND MICHEAL CRABTREE (49ERS)

TE’S I’D PLAY — GREG OLSEN (PANTHERS) — JORDAN REED (REDSKINS) — JORDAN CAMERON (BROWNS) — JARED COOK (RAMS)

PICKS OF THE WEEK —

RECORD LAST WEEK ATS — 5-7

RECORD ON THE SEASON — 32-34-3 — GOTTA BE ABOVE .500 BEFORE THE SEASON ENDS….TIME TO MAKE A RUN — LET US PRAY —

Jaguars +7 over the Browns — Everything in my gut says the Browns win big. Jags 3rd straight road game, cold weather and then I see Brandon Weeden is playing QB for the Browns. I will take the points. BROWNS 17 Jaguars 13

Dolphins +2 over the Jets — Geno Smith in his last 6 games has 1 td and 10 picks. Wouldn’t be surprised to a Simms by the 3rd quarter. DOLPHINS 20 Jets 14

Bengals +1 over the Chargers — Time for Andy Dalton to step up. The Chargers defense is going to have trouble with the Bengals running game all day long. AJ Green makes a play. Benagals 24 Chargers 21

UPSET OF THE WEEK —

SAINTS +4.5 OVER THE SEAHAWKS — I KNOW THEY ARE IN SEATTLE, BUT THE “LEGION OF BOOM” MIGHT HAVE PICKED THE WRONG WEEK TO GET BUSTED BY THE NFL FOR PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS OR WEED OR WHATEVER THEY WERE DOING. 2 KEY DEFENSIVE BACKS ARE OUT FOR THE SEAHAWKS — BAD WEEK TO BE SHORT IN THE SECONDARY WITH DREW BREES COMING TO TOWN — THIS GAME IS MOST LIKELY GOING TO DECIDE HOMEFIELD IN THE NFC…SHOULD BE A GREAT GAME TO WATCH — SAINTS 31 SEAHWKS 28

That is all this week Big Bluers… Again, a Happy and healthy holiday to and your family. Enjoy the games…the left over turkey and as always Bleed Big Blue!!
